Thread: DOTS need to be toned down a bit... the Loser wins?!?

Problem I see is that Dots sticking with you after your incapped. This is truely dangerous with the Flame Dots being as it wounds the hell out of you until it finishes its run. Why does it seems that this game rewards the loser of a fight. I beat down this Commando dabbler earlier and he had scored a flame hit. Ok, the dot is going to take me down so I DB him and wait for it... boom incapped. I get up and head out of the area and bam the Flame dot keeps going incapping me over and over giving me more wounds. Now I can't do anything about this and it annoys me ... I was on Tatooine no water. The guy I DB got off easy... since he died his Dots are gone. Why is it that this game rewards the loser of the battle? This is not just the flame dot, Combat Medics poisons and diseases are just as bad. The only way to beat it is to have a friend duel and kill you to remove the dots, and that, to me, makes no sense.

There needs to be a way to remove flame Dots just like you can remove the other ones. Give medics burn treatment kits or something cuz your not going to always PvP where Water is handy nearby. Another method is to make Incap clear all existing Dots off you... or have the dots stay on you after death (again makes no sense but at least evens the field). If you win you should not lose worse than the guy that you killed.

I agree they need to give docs kits to extinguish the fire so the DOT is gone, just the same as they can remove posions DOTs. That just makes sense.

Although, many times I've seen Combat Medics deliver posions in the same city and they same place every day, even at roughly the same times each day. You know what, everyone still got incaped cause there was either no Docs around or if they were they didn't have the supplys to treat it anyway.

So I say get those extinguishers out there for the Docs to use, it won't hurt the commandos much considering you still need a well equiped highly skilled Doc there to save your butt.

Also, they shouldn't make it so that everyone can use it. It should require a Doc at the same level as they need to be to treat CM posions. If they made it that easy to stop then they might as well give everyone the ability to remove posions and any other DOT in the game.

There is no flameout thing. When incapped, just like every bad thing that can effect you like bleeds, poison, disease, and dots, stays. Its when you are DB and clone that all those bad things need to gowhen you getyour new body.

I think they should give the fire dot reducer (no, you shouldn't be able to use one to stop all the fire. it should be like first aid where you need to use more than one based on your effectiveness and the power of the dot) to combat medics because it just sort of fits my view of what a combat medic does heh. The fact that you can jump in water and INSTANTLY negate ALL fire dots is the key here, you cannot do that with any other type of dot.

The key here dunk'tan is that he was on Tantooine which has no water. As far as this problem, I have discussed it before... Everyone hates that dots, disease, and poison continue to effect the afflicted person after incap if they do not die and clone. The obvious fix is that upon incap, all dots etc should be nulled. The problem that falls in, is that it appears that buffs fall into the same code as dots, poison, and disease. Therefore if they just throw a hotfix in to get rid of any negative buffs (dots etc) upon incap, buffs would also be lost. It sure would suck if you got incapped from something other than a dot and your wonderful doc buffs were gone once you popped back up.

The flame dots suck especially if you come across people with a flamethrower who are po'ed in RL and just want to grief people.

We have a Master Commando on sunrunner, guys name is Alex, he's imperial, nothing against imps, but this guy was bein a jackass. I watched him stand 10m away from a guy he had incapped with his FT, and diseased with his faction pet, and refuse to DB him, leaving the guy running up mad wounds from the DoT, and unable to do anything about it.

His reasoning "I'm having a bad day don't f&^k with me." No offence, if you're having a bad day RL, dont bring it anywhere near me.

Right now its possible to wound someone who's buffed so that they cant get up in the clone center, "thats the risk you take" some might say.. to anyone that says that, get yourself buffed, let me wound the crap outta you so you cant get up, then we'll see how you like it.

Two things needed... /suicide and some way to put out the flames...

Oh and before you go screaming that /suicide means i'll stop you from getting faction for DB'ing me.... how bout having it remve double faction and give it to the person who incapped you...

Just to illustrate how overpowered or bugged the flamethrower dot is. Flamethrower dot ignores heat resist. Don't believe me? Watch rancor/grand wrix (100% heat resist) get killed by a single flame thrower dot. I've been pvping alot btw beastine and anchorhead, I always hav to retreat or die else where after i kill the commando - the flamethrower dot can last around 15 mins......DEVS WAKE UP!! got a friend who got incapped 3 times from one flame dot which lasted well over 10 mins. Idea to fix this is to give people with first aid 4 an ability to put out the flame dot and shorten the dot duration.

Through experimental results, I believe there to in fact be a bug with Flame DOT's, and perhaps all DOT's in general.

On my observations when a target is not incapped by a commando, the Flame DOT will subside after roughly 2 minutes. This has been consistent, but every time I noted that the target did not incap. (Something I didn't think of trying at the time) Given the brief duration, it was not hard at all for a Master Medic to keep up with the burn(even a bad one), and then heal the wounds after it subsided.

So, naturally, when people said burns lasted 15-30 minutes, my response was, "Congratulations, you're full of it." However, after hearing this from more reliable sources, it appears taht if you are incapped while DOT'ed, the DOT timer resets somehow. Upon getting back up you get your 5 minute grace period, the DOT starts up again.... and then it just keeps going and going and going..... I will need to experiment further.

I think the Dot has a set time periode, 10 min I think, but when you incap the timer stops. 90 seconds roll by you get up 3-5 min timer initiates then at the end the Dot restarts. Unless you've been getting healed the Dot will immediately incap you again and the cycle continues until the 10 min Dot timer expires. That's where your getting some folks burning for 15-30 min repeatedly incapping and racking up wounds (myself included).

This problem needs addressing soon. At this time their are too many people using this to grief people which is sapping the fun out of PvP, and since PvP is one of the key features of this game (and the fact there is really no existing PvE content) not addressing will cause loss of capital due to cancelled subscriptions.
