I'm a TKM and a 0/3/4/0 commando. I'm having a blast. I'm not really using many of my TKA skills right now because I'm trying to level commando still, but I'll be extremely deadly once I'm done leveling.

I don't currently plan on going past 0/4/4/0 in commandofor of4 reasons.

1) I'd have to give up everything else besides medic, and I just can't handle playing this game with no terrain nav skills.

2) Master commando is not that enticing ATM. All you really get is flamecone 2, which is great in specific situations, but not necessary to function as a high level commando. Playing a TKA without master is just silly. The +40 damage from the master box accounts for about 25% of your overall damage potential alone. That with all the other bonuses from TKM means you you really need that box if you're going to compete. I don't really get the chance to set up flamecone attacks that often anyway. They're very cool when they do work, but I can live without them.

3) Grenades are not tactically necessary ATM. At 40m (grenade range) you can use your PBC, under 40 m I generally pull out my FT to try to close and get a FS2 in. I'm not saying that greanades aren't cool and fun, but when you're talking about having to give up scoutor perhaps medic, it's just not worth it.

4) The Heavy Acid Rifle just stinks. less damage than the FT, no DOT, no AP. If I come across something that I can't kill without acid, I'll use my acid cannon rather than pay the 13 points for the HAR.

So there you have it.

I'm actually working toward TKA now and am a Commando. The TKA appeals to me because of the defensive bonuses as well as the Meditate ability. I thinka Master Commando/TKM is a great combination.

Meditate is probably the single most convenient skill in the game. If only it'd cure battle fatigue...

This is my combo atm, although I'm not quite as far along as mister_heavy. I'm still toying with the option of going w/ 0,4,4,4 or 0,4,4,0( like heavy) or master commando. The grens and HAR havne't shown that they are worth giving up the other skills that will require that sooo.. we'll have to see.

The part I don't get about this build is why you'd choose 2 melee range professions? I was TKA and dropped it for commando. I do miss the meditate, but that's about it. Most PvP occurs at range if the opponents are even reasonably skilled. I'm doing a commando/squad leader for my PA, but if not I'd consider a weapon that does good dmg at range with a reasonable fire ratelike the carbine (AOE dizzy, which is also nice). If it's a question of defenses, I'd do pistoleer, which has nice defenses and would still be active when equipping the LP. To get the defenses as a TK you'd have to unequip.

The flamethrower's autoattack is plenty powerful at 64m, but I don't see why you'd want to stop using it and equip VKs or fists at short range considering the power of flame single 2.

I agree though that if you're going to "dabble" in commando, skipping FT and HAR is the right idea. Don't forget that as a master marksman you can get a DXR6 carbine to do AP1 acid damage, quite fast and with some great specials (actionshot 1, leg shot 2, full auto single 1).

Personally I'd say that if it ever gets an upgrade (defense modifiers still aren't very useful and the specials besides HS2 all stink), Pistoleerwill bethe best compliment to commando for raw combat power. You can get a lot of skill boxes in itfor some good defenses and nice pistol modifiers, and eventuallymaybe even some decent specials if they ever get fixed/improved,to go along with your sliced kryat launcher pistol.

Still... overall I'd say Commando on its own is in a "good place" in terms of combat power without secondary professions. A wise use of skill points might be to forego other combat professions in favor of combat support and indirect combat abilities. Like medical skills.

Or for another example: an underrated skill tree, in my opinion, is Trapping from Scout. Having phen darts from trapping 3 is making my life a lot easier by keeping thingsfrom closing thedistance while I toast them. But that's just my opinion.

The bonuses from TKA are very nice, but I think you'd end up primarily making use of the meditate line, and forgoing the kung fu in favor of the flame single 2 at close range

well my build is master commando, riflemen 4-0-4-4, novice carbineer, novice pistoleer, TKA 0-0-0-4 i miss the meditate but this gives some really nice ranged and melee defense not to mention some good rifle skills and i can bleed and target any pool.

there is a slight tactical aspect

fromwhat i have seen people try to close the distance against commandos to throw off the accuracy of FT

esp pistoleers..

so the idea is...FT they stop kiting and close the distance...KD2...FT....

opinions? is this viable?

like wise there are additional def mods in the commando tree to be added...

finally the meditate gets you back in the game faster......

I really really wanna master teras kasi and commando, but I dont think I have enough points. im willing to give up everything except terrain in scout, and I only have box three in it. I think its a great idea to take both, since you would have range, and melee abilitys.

giving up the terrain nva will be a pain but with speeders coming travel won be that much of a bother

You can master TKA

You can master Commando

You can take novice scout and explore I

and you will have ONE skill point left

Im not a commando, but i consitered it. TKM MC sounds like a good long term goal but their combat ranges and leveling just make them not a good duel leveling combo.
