Thread: Damage/DoT = Loot rights?

OK, now......I am trying to understand how "looting rights" work, by work I do not mean "as intended" for this is a Dev answer and we all know that Dev answer's are blanent lies.....Continued..... Last night some fellow guild mates and myself decided to do a little Krayt hunting since they upped the spawn and I really need some tissues' for a FT I will have made. I was the first to spot em. Two of em to be exact. 1 Juvinial (spelling?) Krayt and one Canyon Krayt and no one on em....they all MINE! What glee I had when I gave the WP in group chat. I start attacking the Canyon and get a really good DoT on em and pullout my high damage Flamer and FLAME2 at it with all a Commando could give.


I was tearing it appart.....then....then Two Master Swordsman came and started spamming specials....not mind special's mind you.....they didn't appear to be really doing a whole lot of damage....Per combat log I was doing about 6k damage per hit, about every 4 seconds...with a full DoT stacked and my fellow guildies where TKM'ing UAH3 like madmen. The Krayt goes down with 1/4 of it's health wounds....I felt as if my work was done here....but guess what message I got when I tried to loot("you do not have permission to access the corpse") Now I had been working that lil b@stard for about 4 min and doing good damage before anyone else even touched it, I know my guildies didn't get loot rights......so this leads me to believe one of the Swordsman managed to out damage me with out any issues at all. The resistances were 35% across the board on this Krayt so the playing field was pretty even. I was even using some Rocket Launchers (to my amazement I hit 3/4 of the time) and to be out damaged by some 92 or some odd skill point profession. FIX THIS F*CKING GAME! THROW US A F*CKING BONE!..........and that's all I feel I want to say.

I know i feel you pain. Riflemen and Swordmen will ALWAYS out damage us. I HATE THAT. I cannot tell you the number of krayts that have been stolen from me by those two professions.

From what I've found the combat log show's what's happening before armor rating is taken into account. The 2 riflemen were not using headshot's because they didn't care about a "quick" kill. They wanted loot rights and were most likely using strafshot2, our most powerful attack. Now if you go "behind the scenes" and take armor rating into account. The rifleman has AP3 and does normal damage to an enemy with AR3 while a flamethrower has AP0 and suffers an 87.5% damage reduction from what's in the log. This doesn't really get any better with something that has AR2 or AR1 either. If something has AR2, a rifleman will get a 25% damage bonus while a flamethrower still gets a 75% reduction, AR1 a rifleman gets a 56% damage bonus while the comando gets a 50% reduction. And finally, if there is an AR0, the rifleman will get a 95% damge bonus (almost double) while the commando does normal damage.

just about all the damage you do comes from the flame dot....which doesn't count for lootrights...


a tip: next time if it's a juvi go with speedsliced HPBC...you'll drop it superfasdt and get lootrights

So basically.....we all know it.......Commando is crap for taking on anything that has any type of Armor rating. DoT or not.....I went there.


As an after thought....it's almost as if the Dev's are truly pushing those who would like become Commando or Stay Commando away......hmmm. I wonder if they are going to take the Commando Title away in the C.U since they hate us so much....I feel sorry for a Wookie Commando...

your forgetting about resists too.
If the Krayt has 100% heat resists, your gonna do 0 damage no matter how hard you hit.
I don't usually have this problem as I am a MC/MR. All power and no defense baby. Booyah. *thats sarcasm by the way*

Nah they dont have 100% resists. The problem is as was stated by others, armor piercing. That and speed capping. When a swordsman wields a really good hammer while speed capped by using 2h melee speed tapes and spams his Hit3, it wouldn't even take 2 to out damage you. You could have even got a head start and he would still beat you soundly and win the loot. I don't even want to talk about what would happen with a rifleman and a T21.


All I can say is, you won't be winning ANY loots from riflemen and swordsmen until after the CURB. They can use damage powerups, speed tapes, mind food, and a damage sliced weapon fired at once per second and doing more damage than you by about 10-fold. I have been a rifleman in the past and grouped with one other rifleman. We were capable of getting the loot rights on any group that did not have at least 2 rifleman in it.


Commandos lack speed tapes, damage power ups, and a non-expendable weapon with heavy armor piercing. Because of this, they will never outdamage people who have these things.

Has this changed recently? I'm pretty sure the DOT does count towards loot rights.

Not to long ago, I was able to kill-steal (yes, I'm a bad person) groups of 4 or 5 melee guys (usually including some, if not all swordsmen) with my flamer and a riflemen friend.

I mean, my friends and I have been doing the krayt-killing thing since the first couple of months, so we are seasoned pros at it, but I doubt our strategy was what did it for us. Now a days, everyone knows how to take on the ol' krayts.

You sure it wasn't haveing the rifleman friend with you that got you guys the loot rights? As stated above about armor piercing, riflemen even have a significant advantage over an AP2 hammer that does 50% damage. I've managed to get loot rights as a rifleman from small groups of swordsman.

As far as I understand it, this is how loot rights work:

The group with the person who does the most damage, not counting DoTs, gets the loot.

I have had a Krayt KS'd from myself and a fair sized group that was close to or more than 50% dead when a single Rifleman rolled up. He whipped out a damage sliced Krayt T-21 and thanked us for tanking for him. There was no way he outdamaged our entire group (including several rifleman using moderate damage T-21s) in that short of time. Simply, he did more damage than any one person in our group so he got the loot rights. Same reason why Jedi KS everything in sight.

And because DoTs don't factor in to loot rights, Commandos become especially susceptible to having loot rights stolen when we "stack" Flamethrower DoTs (if such a thing is possible).

My ultimate Krayt Hunting group.... a Swordsman/stacker with good Dizzy/KD defense, a TK/Stacker for sheer toughness and tanking if the swordsman gets KD'd or killed, a Master Commando/Rifleman or TKA and a Master Rifleman/Doc. The doc heals and Dizzy states and keeps the tanks alive while spamming Strafe2, the Commando cycles flame specials and keeps the BBQ going and the tanks.... tank.

nobody except maybe a jedi takes down krayt faster than commando...we just don't get lootrights as soon as a msw or mrm are involved
