Thread: Races Pros & Cons
I got bored and created one of each species in game.
Then I adjusted their stats using the following formula.
No secondary stat could be less than nor higher than 400 so that full armor can be worn.
Any number higher than 400 is the minimum that species allows.
Any extra points evened out the ham
This made for some interesting discoveries.
So, let's break these numbers down shall we?
Bothan 950/400/400 950/600/400 900/400/400
I must confess this amazed me. The Bothan has an incredible base action special modifier, an abundance of extra points, and is well rounded. Action specials will be easier to spam. It also has added bonus of +15 to camoflague and +10 to cover. This means /maskscent will work wonderfully.
Human 900/450/450 900/450/450 900/450/450
This was no surprise. The basic evenly rounded class with no specific perks or disadvantages.
Mon Calamari 900/400/400 900/400/450 900/600/450
No surpise here. This race is the brainy race. High mind special modifiers which is why they make great doctors or decent fighters who use stims. This definitely helps wearing a helm.
Rodian 900/400/400 850/500/750 800/400/400
Definitely the action users. High regen for action and lowered costs for said specials. Can't overlook the added +15 defense vs blind and the +10 1h weapon accuracy and +10 2h melee accuracy.
Trandoshan 900/600/700 900/400/400 850/400/400
I know all about this race as it's what I picked. Makes for a great tka because of the +10 unarmed accuracy, +5 unarmed speed, +15 unarmed damage. The +10 melee defense is nice; however since you cannot wear gloves or boots it's laughable as compensation. In the endgame this hurts more than you would think. A few lucky shots hitting for full take you down quick. Regenerate is a useless innate skill.
Twi'lek 900/400/550 900/600/400 850/400/400
This was another surpise to me. Another action special spam race and nice health regen.
Wookie 1125/650/450 1125/400/400 1100/400/400
The wookie most certainly has an abundance of points, but due to the fact zero armor = endgame pain and suffering. Personally as long as you don't get shot at in combat this makes for an amazing race for maxing out a class specialties.
Zabrak 900/400/400 900/400/400 900/400/700
The one race that gets combat protection love. Defense vs dizzy +10, Defense vs stun +10, Defense vs intimidate +10, and anti-shock +5. Not to mention the ever powerful /equilibrium which evens out all 3 of your bars. Toss in an incredible regen of the only unhealable bar and it's a win/win race.
There you go. As you can see each race has it's pros and cons. There is no one best. Play what you like.
Or pick what you feel gives you the advantage for what you want to do.
Only data I didn't collect was the min/max for each category. But going that route means giving up in another cateogry.
I did this keeping in mind wearing armor and having no one weakness which would occur maxxing out another stat.
Anyway, enjoy.
Trandoshan is the best. my opinion.
You get more points than any other class besides wookie AND you can wear the most important pieces of armor, helmut, chest plate, legs. I mean how many times do you get eyeshot/mindbled/torsoshot in the hands or feet? Being able to wear gloves or boots is overrated.
My commando-to-be is a Mon Calimari... I think I might have cracked how to make it work well though. In the end she is going to be Master Commando, several boxes of medic which I haven't decided on yet and have exploration 4 in the scout tree.
She probably won't wear full armor. I'd much prefer wearing my grand ball gown and dress slippers while setting people on fire. Perhaps a bio engineer enhanced grand ball gown with lots of bleed protection when it's fixed? =)
Oh ever seen a mon cal with a maxed head size in a composite helm? *snicker*
Zabrak is the best race because of their equilibrium and high mind stats (the high mind stats might not be so important if holocron ever puts that mind damage fix in, but we shall see...).
If you think gloves and boots aren't that important, just wait until you get hit with a heavy weapons special in one of those two locations... oh and npcs that seem to hit your unprotected areas 70% of the time when youaren't wearingglovesare fun too.
One point of contention...
I play Trandoshan Commando (2/2/4/1) and regen is not useless. I can state for a fact that with full composite I have outlived a health bleed because I hit that nice regen button. It boosts constitution, in my case over 1000. After being shot by a pistoleer bleed and downing him in pvp, I took off my armor, sat down and chuckled while he watched my health regenerate almost as fast as his bleed worked. at the end, I had about 2/3rds health before he stood up from the incap. And for the record yes, I did hit him with Flamesingle 2. It was a friendly duel because he didn't believe I could one-shot him....
Oh, and also for the record, Burnt Wookie smells like muddy cat and blueberry muffin.
Now, for the rest. First, being Cold Blooded has advantages especially on worlds like Tatooine where I don't show up on heat sensors... you also get to be chipper and full of energy when the temperature gets nice and sweltering. Mind you, when the Hoth Expansion comes out, I'm going to lie down and take a nap...
Second, ladies love the scales...
And most importantly... Evolution is overrated
