Thread: Dual-Wielding...

you know how the Pistoleers are pushing for the dual wield option...im wondering... why arent we doing the same? i mean..that is commandoesque is it not?...i understand if we dont get it..but...yea are we kinda pushing for that?
I think Dual-Wield will NOT be part of CURB.
When, and if, it happens, I think we will be included, since we do have a pistol, the "Launcher" pistol.

What is the point of duel weilding any way?
They wont let you do double damage with 2 weapons.
They wont let you shoot 2x as fast
They would double the HAM cost
Dual wielding is rather pointless in a turn based MMORPG system.
You would end up with 2 pistols is always better than 1.
Its fun in an FPS system because you can shoot from 1 weapon while reloading the other and so on.
I dont see it ever coming into the SWG to be honist.
It'll come in time, but not for a while (they've said so themselves... certainly after CU). The thing about dual (not duel) wielding is that in pretty much every game, it does more damage, but is far less accurate (which makes sense) unless you're a complete pistol specialist. It's pretty easy to put in actually, just look at how they did it in KOTOR and it'd work just fine here.
Oh god...
I have a novice pistoleer character, and I never visit the pistoleer forums because I'm sick of all the threads crying about dual-wield and holster animation.
Please, please, please, let's not turn the commando forums into that kind of mess.
Hey, I've signed at least a couple of those petitions.
The original one is no worse than the tank thread.
Besides... what pistoleers really need is twirly Jango Fett-esque pistol holsteringmove that has a 5% chance of shooting yourself in the foot.
(more if you aren't a master...)
In all honesty I kinda gave up on that forum though, there's only so many directions you can go with pistoleer, and none of them have possibilites as remotely as interesting (and potentially as flexible) as commando does. The most radical thing there is the possibility of specials being unique and changing dodge animations in the CU (as well as making pistols actually worth something I might add... stupid AR1 being worthless on anything tough).
Yeah, but you don't see a half dozen tank threads here...
Seriously, the last time I went to the pistoleer forums, I saw about 4 dual wield threads/petitions on the first page, 2 holster threads, and one or two threads asking for "twirly moves."
For my pistoleer, I don't care if dual-wield is ever implemented or not.
For commandos, I hope we don't get it. To me, dual-wielding isn't commando-ish. Now, giving us a bayonet on the other hand...

I can just imagine that. That would be cool. But it will never happen.

I've brought this up to the Devs in the past and I have to say, I kind of agree with their reasonings...Dual-Wield makes sense for Pistoleers...their weapons are suppose to be light where as ours are suppose to be "heavy" (both in damage and weight)...BUT...if Duel-Wield ever becomes something that Pistoleers do get (and I know the Pistoleer Correspondent is working hard on this...doing a great job by the way) then all we have to do is "dabble" pistoleer to get that ability (which many of us already do and will definitely still be a good option post CU)...
If I had to choose between getting our Consumables fixed and our Damage cranked up (DPS-wise) over Dual-Wield, I definitely would...
Remember...every profession SHOULD have a thing that is THEIR thing...I can see Dual-Wield being a Pistoleer thing...

Ok take how hard it is to hit something now with a flame thrower.
Now double or tripple it.
Still think its awsome?
Then Nunas would be handing our bootys to us on a daily basis.
You fire at Nuna but you miss
You fire at Nuna but you miss
You fire at A Nuna for 2000 damage but it dodges it
You shoot at a Nuna for 1900 damage but it counter attacks
You use FlameSingle2 on A Nuna for 16000 damage but it dodges
You fire at Nuna but you miss
You fire at Nuna but you miss
You fire at Nuna but you miss
You fire at Nuna but you miss
