most n00bs don't want to touch our expensive, fairly gimps profession when they can do others much more easily

oh and commandos don't fly planes

LMAO! OT here a bit...but I actually tried doing some space stuff on live a while back (I DID beta JTL and reported bugs). I got lost and freaked out! I hit some hotkey and got lost in the yacht. Never left the controlls before that. So I ran around my OWN ship...lost! I was trying to click on control panels, enter elevators, and got stuck. Finally I found the cockpit...and spent a while trying to figure out how to regain control.

I finally had to swallow some pride and sent a few /tells...embarrassing! Especially when they said "Click on the Captians chair...duh!".

Don't tell anyone ok?

Commando isn't one of the professions that... *ahem*... pwn... people. Not like meleers or Riflemen (the one ranged profession people fear).

The Commando posters here aren't the run of the mill combat oriented players. I'll categorize us:

- Too much loyalty to their first elite profession. I fall into this category. Kind of like your first [...EDIT].

- The title of Commando, especially to newbs (not n00b, according to the titled thread), is an appealing one. Hmm... I fall into this one also.

- Players who go against the grain of FOTM templates. Commando isn't flavor of the month anymore. If anything, it is a Jedi grinding profession if you want to try using something derogatory. When I fight (and get killed in my ST armor) other players, when people see the Master Commando title up, there's no basis for anyone to say I'm a FOTM or temploiter.

- Players who like to see stuff go boom or go up in flames & smoke. The Launcher Pistol, Flamethrower, and some of our consumeables have cool effects and animations. Though the animations can be a tactical hazard for us. As for the Flamethrowers... that's for the Pyro's in our ranks.

- Players who relish in pain & suffering. Admit it, as Commandos, alot of incaps & deaths come our way. But some probably like this stuff.

A minor bonus... Heavy Infantry and Shock Trooper are cool titles. Great for Imperials in factional armor.

I do too fly a plane
Well, actually its a TIE Advanced.
Soon I will have a TIE Commmunicator (the name has been changed from Opressor due to the Emperor's "Kindler, Gentler Empire" campaign)

And Does the fact that the first profession I mastered a year ago was rifleman and have kept ever since make me a FOTM temploiter?
Once I found my rifleman/commando combination I became the happiest nonjedi in the game. I love this template. Sure, it sucks in PvP because I don't exploit rifleman enough, but there isn't a single thing in PvE that I fear. At least not when I am buffed with full armor... except maybe a SBD or NS protector. But I will chew on elders all day.

I dunno if I count or not.

I read the forum virtually every day, but don't find it important to post most times.

I admit being a Commando/TKM and watching my unarmedspin2 take out a mob twice as fast as flamecone2 vs a mob of virtually anything pretty depressing.

that's with a 2.8 speed 844max flamethrower vs a defacto standard 2.2 speed 144max give or take vk.

well, if you pop a snow cake (got to be the best food in the game, with brandy in a colse secound) and get a nice slice, 2.8 speed counts, then you'll be good to go. just make sure you kneel.
