Thread: To my fellow commandos I want your opinion on this.

I don't know how many of you are going to like this however something needs to be done. Too many people are shooting up the flame thrower spec line then just going into cities and starting tef wars and angering many many people b/c of the severe wound dmg ( which I fully support ). It's too common place.

I was wondering how many of you would support a nerf something like this.

instead of

novice commando +10
flame spec1 +15
flame spec2 +15
flame spec3 +25
flame spec4 +15

for accuracies

How many of you would support something like this.

novice commando +10
flame spec1 +5
flame spec2 +5
flame spec3 +10
flame spec4 +10

master commando +40

We would have the same end accuracy and would make mastering commando useful and would probably make alot of people either a) drop commando or b) actually master the class thus making it worth it - ( also a similar thing for the HAR line would be applied for consistency's sake ).

Not looking for flames, just seeing how many of you think at this time and place this would be appropriate.

Griefers would still take the single line and still start TEF fights. They would just AIM first.

Yes but that would a) give the other person a chance to respond before they hit and b) they would still miss very often

I dissagree. I did not test it as I moved up the flame tree, but I had a macro set up to aim and flame and I did not feel like I was missing anywhere near as much as I expected to from reading the FAQ.

Also, when people are standing around talking or sitting idle in the cantina, or worse, fighting others, you are fooling yourself if you think they are going to notice and then respondin the time it takes to aim.

How many posts have people said this on? I know I am currently at the bottom (not for long) of a very long list: "The problem is not the flame thrower and how powerful it is. The problem is revenge TEF"

Revenge TEF should be removed. There is no good reason for having it.

oh yeah, when that covert is at a mission terminal looking for a mission they're gonna have a chance to notice before you get 2-3 shots off. and one hit will make a uy drop. all you do is get up next to them, kneel for the acuracy bonues and then /aim and its over. theres almost NO way you can miss. even if you only have a +10 in accuracy.

A few points.

I think the real problem is the revenge TEF. Once that goes away, all kinds of problems will be solved.

I'm generally in favor of stacking all kinds of bonuses towards the end of the tree, and even in the master box. However, in this particular case, I feel that it would not be particularly useful to lower the accuracy bonuses of the first couple boxes. The FT is already frustratingly inaccurate at that level, and it's not until the thrid box that it even starts to get decent. Even in the 4th box, I miss more often than I'm comfortable with. I'd like to see the FT tree stay the same, and for them to add another +30 FT accuracy in the master box.

I just don't see the FT's DPS justifying the inaccuracy. 600 DPS is not too hot for an elite hybrid's best special. It'sgood damage, and it's front-loaded, but it's not pool-specific, and the accuracy is not where it needs to be. If you looked at the overall DPS of the FT, counting misses, you'd seethat it's not that great at all. At some point, I'd really like see the FT become a reliable weapon, if that's at the master box, so be it, but I think it should be in there somewhere. If need be, make the third box +15 instead of +25, and then add +40 at the master level.

I really want a reason to become a master commando. I'm at 0/4/4/0, and I have 300K unused combat xp and close to 600K unused heavy weapons xp, so I'm not really that far away. But I'll need a good reason to drop my other skills and get that master box.

Here's an idea I read a week or so ago. I think that this is a nice middle ground that requires more skill pts but not all the way to master (BTW I am a week away from master) to really use flame effectively. Combine Acid rifle and Flamethrower in this way.

Tree 1
HAR/FT specials 1 = flamesingle 1 + acidsingle 1
HAR/FT specials 2 = flamecone 1 + acidcone 1
HAR/FT specials 3 = no new abilities
HAR/FT specials 4 = flamesingle 2 + acidsingle 2

Tree 2
HAR/FT skill mods 1 = speed + accuracy mods
HAR/FT skill mods 2 = speed + accuracy mods
HAR/FT skill mods 3 = speed + accuracy mods
HAR/FT skill mods 4 = speed + accuracy mods (same as mods in both trees now)

This costs player 2X as many skill points but not 4X the skills to reach master.

There would still be dabblers but not as many.

Wish I could take credit for this one; I think it is a great idea.

I agree with you Bobbi. As of right now there is now overwhelming reason for me to give up my other hard earned and greatly appreciated skills in other trees to become a Master Commando. I want to have a really good bonus to motivate me to become a Master. As of right now there is none. Nurfing novices is not the correct approach either. The Commando is suppose to be an elite class. Hard to earn and deadly. Not a uber character but very, very deadly. The Master Commando should be at the top of the heap. Something to be coveted.

Before i blow off on that dip**edit**, i'm gonna explain my point of view so you "idiot" get it, and actually read and try to understand a post instead of flaming cause "little boy did not like what he saw". Unless ur a noob, and this is your first day in the commando forum, for the past 2 months or so when ppl were talking about bandwagonneers and the such, I was one of the few that said i dont give a crap if 80% of the swg players go commando or not, whoever came up with "bandwaggoneers" is a moron and master ch or what have you having the 0 0 4 0 tree on the commando profession matters to me not. So in plain words, i dont give a **edit** if you dabble.

I do think that the master title for some proffesions including commando should have more props to it so that it becomes an incentive for ppl to master the profession if they want. Once again, i dont give a **edit** if you do or not. So i guess by me wanting more master commandos aroundmakes a commando hater right? People who actually put the effort and the such intomasteringcommandoShoulD get more than they are getting now.Example, master combat medic gets 21new commands and 5 newskill mods, while master smuggler gets none. Yes, more ppl will try to master combat medic to get those benefits if they see it fit.The same should be for all professions including commando.

I agree with you theedage, but it'd be more effective to move that way on speed rather than accuracy. Accuracy effects can be muted by /aim. The DPS goes up a lot with a speed change, and it'd make the master title worth something. Ignore the flaming min/max twits that fear they might lose their uber PvP skills....there should be a substantial benefit for getting attain master and atm, there's not.

I agree with Theedage here, though I wouldn't go quite so extreme with the mods.

Maybe

Novice +15

+10, +10, +10, +10

Master +35

That way, there's a little more upfront bonus, making the FT a bit more feasible at 1 and 2, making it moderately effective at 3 and 4, and then reserving the real power at Master.

I like that idea Rooster. It's more how the other combat professions are set up.

Well personally im about to master commando so im a pretty happy camper, but i do think that if we are gonna be given the amount of power that we are, we should have to master commando to be able to be as strong as most can be now with only a few skills in some of the trees.
