Thread: Suggestions to get doctor if you want to fight cm's are rediculous

I have seen some people post on these boards saying that "if you want to fight cm's get 4030 doctor" or something stupid like that. Bounty Hunters and Commandos do not have the skill points for this. Even if you are not a Bounty Hunter or a Commando, one should not have to get skills in doctor just so they can be effective against ONE proffesion. I definetly dont advocate a nerf im just saying that these are not solutions.

So what's your proposed solution?

Well, alot of the things that have been stated before, like vaccines seem to be extreme as it would make the combat medic useless in pvp. But something like a gasmask, which I know has also been stated before, that reduces the effectivness of cm poisons and diseases, seems to be a pretty good idea. But while your wearing a gasmask, you cannot wear a helmet, so there is a disadvantage. Fixing the bugs like range, throwing through walls will definetly help as well. After being a commando, I know what its like the be nerfed to oblivion, and i dont want this prof nerfed, as I stated before. Only makes things worse.

I also hope you dont advocate people getting doctor as a proffesion to fight against cm's. As I said this would only work if all the combat proffesions in the game costed 92 skill points..

There are tradeoffs for every template and skillset choice a player makes. That sometimes means going without the ability to heal ones self in favor of dishing out more damage, and vice versa.

Not saying 'take doc' is the end-all, be-all solution to everything. But it is a valid recourse available to everyone, whether or not they choose to take that is another matter.

Yes, I guess your right. But There should be other solutions besides doc around. Right now, it seems to be te best. Having doctors around to heal is difficult because the rate at which area poisons and diseases can be delivered is higher than the doctors ability to heal. Meaning that the cm cam effectivly damage more people in faster time than a doc can heal. Area cures for docs is another great idea that people have said.

Oh, I agree there need to be other measures available(my stance on the subject can easily be found) but that does not in any way negate the fact that taking Doc is a viable alternative.

If you want to be effective against TKMs and their kd/dizzy, you get fencer. If you want to be effective against Ranged profs, you master a ranged prof so as to get mitigation 3. If you want to be effective against cm's you get some doctor skills. It's all a tradeoff. Thats what makes it a GAME. It takes strategy. It takes balls(no offense ladies). Can you get them before they get you? Thats what it comes down to. The reason people dont like CM's is because the effects linger after dispatching the CM who threw them. That is why they are called DOT's. CM will lose a fight against multiple opponents. Straight up. They will lose. No defense. Their friends will then whip ur ass because you have 500 mind wounds and 1(10000000) mind left. Thats what pisses people off. They dont take the time to think that maybe a doc and a dancer is a worthwhile addition to ur pvp group. Those who do realize dont come here and cry for a nerf.

I have a Master CM and i agree that it is horibly overpowered for PVP atm and any fair minded person can see that. WE all know that the devs arnt the shapest tools in the shed but i bet they have noticed this as well by now and as soon as they get there chimps to find a way to give CM posions/disease a PVP reduction withotu doing the same to all meds there will be one in place.

These other sugestions such as Gas Masks, AOE doc cures, short term Vaccines are all great ideas but the reason none of them will see the light of our galaixes is that they require too much programing effort and it is mighty hard to get a chimp to keep programing after you run out of bannans to bribe him with

Or you simply kite them with a ranged class. Perhaps even look into eating some of the widely available anti-KD food.

I think some nice 80% composite armor goes a long way to protecting against ranged profs.

Or... oh wait. There is no effective defense against CM's other than doctor skills. All classes, except for CM,in this game can be countered without the need to change your template.

It's all a tradeoff. Thats what makes it a GAME. It takes strategy (Unless you happen to be a CM). It takes balls(Unless you happen to be a CM). Can you get them before they get you (Not unless you happen to be a doctor as well as a combat profession)? Thats what it comes down to (Being the FoTM). The reason people dont like CM's is because the effects linger after dispatching the CM who threw them (Not to mention the fact that they can destroy a group of 20 prepared fighters with one flick of the wrist). That is why they are called DOT's. CM will lose a fight against multiple opponents. Straight up. They will lose. No defense. They dont take the time to think that maybe a doc and a dancer is a worthwhile addition to ur pvp group (Do people PvP without docs anymore? A lot of good it does them). Those who do realize dont come here and cry for a nerf.

I think this sums up why the "get a doctor or die gimp newb moron" argument is flawed pretty nicely.

Allow me to add some facts to your post.

1. CM's can wear armor, yet their attack bypasses all armor.

2. CM's are the only profession whose attack is not affected by the 75% PvP damage reduction.

3. CM's are the only class whose DOT's haven't been nerfed.

4. CM's AOE is the largest area of effect in the game.

5. CM's range in the largest in the game.

6. (In the interest of completeness) CM's have to stand still for 4 seconds after throwing their poison.

But I for one don't see any balance problem.
