Thread: How strong are Combat Medics in Combat?

I have recently achieved several skills in Combat Medic after a rather long grinding session; As of now, Combat Medic 1011.

I was wondering how much damage the poison or disease delivery units can do, potentially or theoretically speaking of course....

I tested a few against some smaller creatures, after using the best resources I had (half or above in color bar quality, mostly green) and I got the impression that CMs would need a lot of combat support to keep the enemies off of them.

This is why I've decided to pick up Creature Handler again.....

To summarize, here is my question:Were Combat Medics meant to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time, a smaller

amount of damage over a longer period of time, or to do things at range and affect large areas instead of single targets?

In PvP, combat medics can be devestating against unprepared or just arrogant players. This is due to the relatively low HAM's regular players have and due to the fact that only one class in the whole game can cure poisons. In addition the ability to area heal and even MIND heal (limited circumstances) adds to your groups survivability. Heals mean alot when taking on Jedi.

In PvE, they are less damaging because NPC's dont suffer the 75% attack reduction and have much greater HAMs than a regular player.A mastered combat profession can usually kill low to mid level content faster than a Master Combat Medic and in most cases can kill high level content faster as well. In this case, the CM ability become more support than offensive in nature.

I agree Wimpanzee. I solo'd my first Kimo dragon the other night w/ just a BE pet tank. Very fun combat profession.

Rifleman can do it solo just by concealing, swordsmen although they gotta work for it a bit, can also solo elders.

Jedi have to be kinda crazy to solo an elder.

I've been a CM done the kiting thing.... I get killed more often than not by getting stuck in the throw animation and having the elder 2 hit kill me.

The best thing to do to solo an elder is getting a low dmg T21 and concealing it. (having some rifle speed mods will be a big help in cutting down the time it takes)... takes me roughly 10 mins to solo an elder by concealing it.

In short CM is just another method of doing it, but not the best, not even the quickest. The quickest solo elder kills I've seen are done by rifleman using parawan nutricake for the burst run and then just spamming advanced strafe while kiting.

CH is uselss in PvP. Any good player knows, that once they kill you, who is capable of many different types of attacks, they can simply kill the pet. And I believe with a recent patch, once you die, your pet becomes untargetable, kind of like someone who /endduel's you.

If you are using CM in pvp, you need to grind up the right trees to be effectibe. Either master it, and invest all your SP, or go 4004. If you are just gunna use it at low levels such as 1011, you are wasting your SP, and should try to do another profession. Sorry to be a little harsh, and if you are looking at being a CH for roleplaying purposes, then it is by far the most diversified RP profession.

its great if u mix it with a melee profession that can hit mind or rifleman...i can usually kill a fully buffed and armored person in under 30 sec..

That kind of poison would require spider venom that's better than anything that still drops. Even using that number, you're still only talking about 120 DPS. Let's not try to make CMs out to be gods.

If it sticks...sure. Of course you might touch them but most of the time they are touching you. And usually its morethan a love tap unless you're factoring in superman on steroids.

With the throw range modifiers being so gimp the amount of distance to cross to reach a CM usually gets covered before the 4 second root period is up. If the opponent is pure ranged instead of melee then they get 10 shots at you before your poisEn ticks once (4 of those are free as you are rooted and quene locked).

No I'm afraid I've seen way too many noob CM's rely way to heavily on their poisEns and get owned for it. Granted I've seen my share of noob fighters who still refuse to get resists as well.

After reading over the threads, it has come to my attention that:

A) Someone thinks that I am undedicated, a "dabbler" of sorts. I am now a 3223 Combat Medic, and I plan on keeping it permanently as the profession

which I master

darn, hit the keyboard. "Num pad" enter key. Anyways.....

I do plan on mastering this profession.

I simply wanted to know what the best course was to deal damage with their poisons and diseases. I didn't intend for it to become a discussion on what you could do with other professions against what kinds of creatures/npcs. I simply wanted to know the methods that a CM should use to approach combat.
