Thread: So this is fair??

Ok, I'm hanging out in town getting missions as an overt imp. All of a sudden, I'm poisoned and diseased. I look around, trying to find the culprit. I see the red dot and it's inside of the starport. I start to make my way to combat this rebel, when I fall incapped...all MIND damage. My imperial guard can't do anything to help me because they can't SEE the rebel. While I'm laying there, and poisons are getting put on my guard while they just STAND there, I get poisoned AGAIN. Now, when I stand up, I'm incapped again. Once again, I'm poisoned while incapped and when I stand up, I fall again...this time to die due to the three incap rule.

At what point was this a fair fight? I got to move about 3 seconds before it became pointless for me to even bother. There was NO RISK whatsoever to the CM in the starport. He just kept kicking out waves of poison and disease.

Now, I could see if this was a fight where the guy was right in front of me...or even out in the open (so to speak in the city) where I could at least have a shot of going after him or having my guard help me out. But inside a large building in a lag filled city?

I've been reading a little bit of your posts here. Many of you seem to think this is quite ok to do. What I ALSO realize is that you're all also CM's who enjoy this particular ability. Whatever else your issues are, you still have this VERY damaging one.

I don't mind so much that you can poison from so far away. What I DO mind is that you can do it through walls (if you can't see me, how can you throw something at me?), and that it only damages (and a lot of damage at that too) the mind..which is the only stat you can't heal in any quick fashion. If it had been health or action, I could have just kept healing myself while I tried to get to my attacker. With mind damage, what's the point?

Personally, I think that if you really really want to keep this non-LOS perk, then we need to balance it with non-LOS for all ranged attacks. That would be fair, right?

And let's settle this debate about what your class is. You train one tree in marksman, and 4 in medic to qualify for combat medic. Medic is a support class. Yes, you can poison and disease, but you're MAINLY a medic. You make stimpacks and woundpacks. You can heal quickly and at range. Points wise, you don't spend as much as some hybrid classes, and the same as others that are more nerfier in battle. You guys are asking for the equivalent of Asheron's Call's life mages, who used to have almost no hitpoints at level 20, but could do level 126 Tuskers through walls via macro while they slept. Every other class had to wait many more levels to be able to go near them. In PVP, they just drained you through walls while you ran around trying to get to them.

You were meant to be a support class with SOME offensive capabilities. You were NOT meant to take out other players with no risk to yourself whatsoever. THAT is an exploit in any game's definition. No risk to player=exploit. Don't agree? Ask yourself if you ever complained about others doing things like that in other games. I have, and I am again. You're unbalanced. You need fixing. Your ranged attacks need to only affect healable stats, and you need LOS gone.

'nuff said.

Ever fought a KD spamming player?

Or how about 3 ATST's at once.

Feels about the same doesnt it.

If I could kill with NO RISK to me at all, then I'd be the first to cry NERF! But KD's can miss, and AT-ST's have dumb pathing and BOTH of those factors require LOS as well. Give me another example where someone can stand deep inside a building and kill lots of people before they can even get near him? I can't.

So.....

Spamming knockdowns is fair?

Spamming eyeshot is fair?

Hitting someone with torso shot and running away is fair?

Having gurreck hitting you for 500+ damage is fair?

It's not supposed to be fair you freaking whiners. If it were fair, they would have madea static class where we all did exactly the same thing. You pick and choose what you want to be. If you think that he is overpowered, then why don't you become a CM and do it? You'll find that it's not that much greener on the other side.

Oh and another thing, other games have non los aoe as well. Its a fact of life that you will havta be more aware of your radar. Dont complain to us because you were suprised by a undoubtably a master CM and payed for it. If they can see you, you can see them, los not withstanding of course.

Next time I get soloed by a fast moving Imp with a single ATST Ill think of you.

Oh, ok...so let's try this point ONCE AGAIN...for the logic impaired.

How about we give all riflemen no LOS, then? Then they can just land in a starport and mindshot everyone around them...including you. I wonder if we'd see your whining butt in the forums complaining then?

You're only cheering for it 'cause you can do it. Put you in a fair fight and you get to be the whiner.

And yes, I wrestle and restrain behaviorly challenged teenagers 2-3 times a day for a living. Most of the time, while they're swinging at me and trying to bite and kick me. I get to talk tough. And you do what for a living *coughsafejobcough*.

Again, you've gone clueless. Read the first post. I see red dot inside starport. He sees me. He throws poison at me, I get 20 feet towards him and fall to the ground incapped. The fight is done. I never had a chance to even see him, let alone defend myself. And applying poisons while I'm laying incapped? L A M E

No, you dont understand.

1) IF the red dot can see you, then you can see it.

2) The kind of potency that your talking about is master level, try fighting any master level class and see how ya fair.

3) non los is our special trick. Want KD taken completely away? How about Pets, or ATSTs for you Imps? Same idea, suprise is the single most effective weapon in anyones arsonal.

Why is it that everyone that posts and gets into a somewhat interesting discussion needs to suddenly become a "Cop, Marine, superman, superfly, lawyer, poopsmith"? Whatever it is we dont care, nor believe you.

yes, but me seeing a red dot inside of a building does nothing to me...I still have to get to it to do anything. A CM doesn't have that concern at all.

yes, but I'd still defend myself against a master or die trying. Having a master kill with no risk at all is LAME.

Yes, I don't want KD able to be spammed. Pets have LOS and need the same damage reduction as players have. AT-ST's should have SERIOUS costs. As a human, I can get them for 9.4k..which is a day's worth of work or so.

And you speak of surprise? You can still surprise someone in the open. Surprising them while you sit snug inside a building and they can't get to you is lame. Being able to keep applying that poison while they lay down incapped and unable to move, so that they just fall again when they stand up is LAME. There's no strategy there. Throw poison...wait a few mins, throw poison again. WHEEE! You're really using strategy there! Anyone who believes this crock is fair needs to remember the days of Whompa camping in AO. You weren't even finished zoning yet and you were dead....hmm...seems alot of people didn't like THAT very much, did they? How's this one iota different?

You said you cared when you tried to belittle my "'nuff said"

I don't have to prove it to you, because you're insignificant in my life anyways. I know what I do and how hard it is. The job is called "Residential Instructor". Look it up if you want proof. Hell, just pm me and I'll give you the address where I work so you can come visit me at my work. You can watch while some 300lb dysfunctional kid starts punching out entire corners of walls and you're the closest one to him to take him down before he starts swinging at people. *laugh* I don't care if you believe me. But don't cry "nobody believes you" 'cause you're nobody and I got no problem proving it anyways.

There is no question now that KD is being take 'out' as you like to put it. KD by no means at all is actually being removed, its being put on a timer. Subtle difference and one in which BH's will still be dominant on the BF due to thier other tools they use.

Take away offLOS AOE and you leave combat meds with ... well just meds. The price we pay for havingstrong AOE attacks is that there is high resistance and its a DOT. Thats what it means, heavy preparation and expensive maitanance vs ranged combat classes just having to buy a gun from a vendor.

PvP is really a group based system, 1 on 1 is an abboration, and the participents of which usually die very quickly. The smart players group and the smartest players get riflemen as the counter to the med classes. The fact that there arent that many people smart enough to figure that one out... well ill leave it to you folks to figure out why.

If you've played DAOC you know precisely where this will head, and where a class with a non los aoe was used.

People bitch and moan too much invirtually all MMORPG PVP games
