Thread: A guide to PvPing with MCM. Or at least what has worked for me

1. Master combat medic! It takes a bit of work, but every skill tree is essential. Ok, the best way to get Master combat medic is to

first go all the way up the healing tree 4XXX, and get the best bacta spray ability you can.

This will make grinding the rest a whole lot easier.

Ok, now you are a master CM. What now?

1. you need the right food. Take at least one food/drink to add to your general health, one

for your action regen, and one for your mind regen. Mind regen as a combat medic is essential.

I would also reccomend the +100 melee/ranged DEF foods. they are a Godsend for PVP. You should

also stack some spices, as you can do that now. A synthsteak on hand is also good, as well as

an ahrisa, should you have the room. OK, pop the Synthsteak, and either port into the action

or hit DUEL.

2. Hit Paralize. At master this ability becomes amazingly succesful. Now you have a few

precious secounds to throw a few states on your target. Do not at this point, use

fire, disease, poison, or any attacks, because this will negate the paralize instantly. You can

throw State effects without causing them to drop the paralize state.

IF they are ranged, you are probably going to want to start out with a Thyroid rupture, which

will drop their attack speed 40%. After this, begin to run away from them, and throw an

intimidate on them if you can.

If the opponent is a melee proffesion, fist hit them with an

electrolyte drain, which will drop their movement speed by 40%, and then follow up with the

Thyroid Rupture. These two states are very very crucial to effective CM PvP. Ok, begin to run

away from your target, and if you have the time, hit them with an intimidate on the way out.

If the target is ranged and you arent, you are gonna want to stay close to them, since

running wont do alot of good at this point. Now, if the target is melee, run out roughly 30m,

and start chucking the nasty stuff. Fire first, followed by poison, and go ahead and get the

infect in there. keep running around till you get all 3 to stick, healing as you need. Now,

get in for close combat, and hit them with a KD attack. At this point, if the target seems to

be spamming specials, hemmorage them, and they are basically shut down. Get a good power

attack while they are geting up.

If you are taking heavy damage, i would suggest retreating

out of their attack range at this point, and popping an instant stim. Spend some money and get

some 1220 stims, they will save your life. once you have some life back, rush back in and

attempt another KD attack. This is also a good time to pop another Synthsteak, or Intimidate,

if you havent already. If you are a pike, warcry will compliment the situation nicely.

ok, at this point your target should have some nasty ticks going, and is going to be spending

a good bit of their healing efforts just sustaining health, while the DOTs go to work. Hammer

them with KD attacks, and hit em hard while they are down. Dont be afraid to retreat when you

need to, remember, they have been slowed down quite a bit.

If your target is ranged and you are melee, Roots can hurt you big time. Do not drop the DOTs

on them till you have every non damage state you want on them, as the DOTS will negate your

paralizing abilities. One good strategy against a ranged opponent in an area with buildings or lots of obstructions

is to get a thyroid rupture and a Fire in on them, and use line of sight to your advantage.

get around some bulidings, put some angles between you and them, and when they come around

that corner, have a KD waiting for them. Drop another DOT, and run the heck away. When they

stop to heal a DOT, get within 35m and Hit them with another, if possible. Keep playing cat

and mouse.

If you are up against a DOC, your DOTS can be healed off quickly, but dont negate them as

useless. You can be hitting them for some massive damage while they are busy extinguishing

your fire.

I myself am a Master Pike/Master CM, and I find its a great combination. Please feel free to

post your thoughts about effective templates, as my experience with ranged proffessions is
somewhat limited.

Combat Medic is a great Support Class for PVE and group PVP, but It is also a top notch PVP

profession. Plus, It is not a proffesion that requires millions upon millions to be effective.

At master Combat Medic, you have a wide variety of offensive and defensive attacks at your

disposale. Enjoy

EDITED::: Adding a bit more info regarding debuffs

Thyroid rupture and Electrolyte drain are still essential to CM PVP, but, in long, drawn out duels, your action and mind debuffs can be the difference in the outcome of the battle. Also, think outside the box with paralize. Peoples instincts when facing multiple opponents is to area attack away. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. If you are facing two or more guys, get a paralize on one, and leave him the hell alone. If its just two, maybe hit him with an electrolyte, which can help you escape if you need to. Debuffing a ranged proffs action will basically secure you a victory. let their action get down to about 10 percent, and KD them. Watch em get uber mad as they cannot KD recovery for a lack of action, and action regen for that matter. Have fun, but most of all, learn your template, so you can think on your feet

From a ranged profession point of view, a KD shot is not always an option. You can always substitute delays or root shots instead of KDing. Stacking a Startleshot for instance in between some fire and poison works wonders. Personally I took the Pistol line of BH and got some good specials that compliment my Master Rifle skills.

Back in the pre-CU days of CM/Rifle, you could use flurry2 with suppressionfire to KD/Dizzy and then let your enemy flop like a fish while you blackbarred his arse. Strafeshots were used alot more than startleshots because of the damage multiplier. Stacking mind poison and then spamming headshot like mad was another quick kill, even against defense stackers.

Startleshot works to deal damage but it also serves to delay your opponent for a few seconds. You can work the delay to stick constantly by CTRL + Click on the Startleshot icon in your toolbar. From there on it will cycle unless you use another attack. I typically combine Startle with an Underhand shot. While my opponent is knocked down, I lay onsome Electrolyte and Thyroid. If the fight takes longer than that, I repeat the process and start using Shock, Infect,Toxinand Fire as needed.

Again this is keeping in mind that I am an MCM/MR/Desperado template.

Also take in mind that startleshot works alot like paralyze in that it now breaks the delay when 1+ points of damage are sustained after it is applied. However, it works great as another delay when trying to get away from someone.

Thanks, nice to offer advice considering the new system (CU). I've been playing for 1.5 years, and and still confused about how to play CM now.

Best jedi hunting template yet that I've worked with: MBH/MCM/Rifles 4000. Take a look at the stats and you'll see that MBH is a better choice than MR. Advanced critical is the best ranged damage special in such a template until they fix advanced sniper. You get much better def, almost the same acc, and can combine advanced crit with improved headshot for excellent damage. You lose some rifle speed, but its not enough to make a difference in the testing I've done.
