Thread: CM a support class now.
Was always support... CM's are a huge force multiplier in groups.
There are no classes in SWG.
You are telling me you have not spent any skill points outside of CM, except for the requirements?
In the SWG professions system, you are supposed to be able to take multiple professions, or even parts of multiple professions. Even BH (the most point intensive master) can take points in other professions.
No profession stands alone.
No 1 profession ability should define it.
I'll agree the +1 fix feels makeshift.. but it didn't bomb CM back into the stoneage.
CM is more then the mindpoison kill.
A grouped CM, can manage a combat and seriously bend the outcome into his/her side's favor (always kill the doc first heh), PVE or PVP.
A solo CM can whup butt, providing he/she has other skills to back up CM.

So we're a support class. So what? We're still effective. Even using only the DH17 I qualify for with the novice marksman required for CM, I can solo the highest level rebel missions I can get (granted I've got either a Male Brackaset, Graul, or Greater Sludge Panther/Gualama out to tank...but I still do just fine.) Our biggest advantage is in groups, and there's nothing wrong with that. On large guild hunts I'd easily call myself the most important group member and on those hunts I don't carry a gun. In fact, I tend not to do any damage whatsoever, personally. But the damage I allow my groupmates--be they people or pets--to inflict by making sure they aren't incapacitated far outweighs any other single player's total possible damage contribution.
You want to be able to solo PvP? Drop CM and pick up BH or Pistoleer or Commando. If, on the other hand, you enjoy healing, and being a member of a group (what else is the point of a MMORPG? If you don't like groups go buy a single player game) then keep CM and stop whining.
As many of these posts as I see, some eloquently stated, some barely puked out onto the screen, the sense I keep getting is "I used to be an uber soloist, and now I need help! Waahh!!" You know what? Suck it up. Everyone needs help. Get over your macho image of yourself and make some friends. You'll be glad you did.

Ok I'll go make some friends thanks for helping me with that. I will be one hell of healer.
Master Combat Medic / Master Carbineer
I went with Combat Medic not for the poison, but that is a nice secondary reason, I did it mainly for the healing ability. Ranged and area of effect healing. I also took on Doctor as well as this is my play style. With this combination and my ability to read a group I can make almost any size group (more then 2 constitutes a group) invincible against anything the game can throw. (Krayts might be an exception butI have done as few as four in a Krayt group)
My biggest problem now is the rate of resists in PvE. This is unbeleivable that 1 in 5 of my best made poisons are going to get resisted. That alone consumes almost 1/2 of my mind. The poison resist in PvE needs to be looked at seriously.
I have been yelling about the +1 change for a long time, and now I am just going to give it up. There is no reason to keep screaming about it, it is not going to change. That just means to me that PvP is not going to be a part of anything I want to do. I want to be more effective against the environment then and I will be happy.
The thing for me is that I think EVERY profession should be able to stand toe to toe with any other profession. When professions are no longer able to do that they become cannon fodder and grief material for the Bounty Hunters and Riflemen of the game. If I am alone and waiting for a shuttle and get attacked, I should have the same chance to come out of that fight victorius as the person attacking me. As a combat medic alone I cannot do that. If I master Pistol or something MAYBE, but even then that is arguable. THat is why the +1 hurts the profession.
If you attack me, there should be a consequence for you the attacker. You might be victorious, you might not, but the way things are now, there is no consequence unless I happen to get a disease on you as well as a poison. The fact is without armor (and to be effective as a CM you cannot wear armor in my opinion I have tried) you are a sitting duck, now even if I hit the attacker with poison, they are not too concerned because all they have to do is make sure they kill me, they know the poison is not going to do them in.
That is my problem with the +1 change and why I am not going to do PvP in this game. In fact I think I will give up my affiliation and go back to neutral.
Now that CM is a support class for mostly healing do you plan on keeping the skill or untraining.
I'm personally looking at just keeping Master medic and using the points on combat related proffesions. Can't justify all those points just for area heal.
rofl what?
if CM is a support class, it's the most passive-aggressive support class ever created.
It probably is the most passive-aggresive support class there is, that is actually true. Some might argue one way or the other, but they are probably both right to an extent.
I would like to see some more passive support abbilitesmyself... such as a +20 to your willpower when your grouped with a MCM.
I plan on staying a CM, support is important to me, thats what I do.

I am a Master Combat Medic and a 0-1-3-2 Pistoleer and I can solo darktroopers without a pet. I wouldn't call us just a support class.
Can you kill dark troopers without your pistol? No your poison supported you. your a support class the devs say so.

Uhmmm ... since I had to take ranges support in order to become a CM and that enables me to use a gun and that gun can kill . . . I'd say not just support.
Using a pistol is part of the requirements to being CM (or at leat some ranged weapon). Why would I fight without a ranged weapon?

I would not recommend fighting without a real weapon as this poison cannot kill. Your 2 skills combined equate a combat class/combat support, your pistol being your primary weapon. your poison being a support tool, healing is a support tool.
IMO to be a combat profession you need to be able to actually kill something with the tools within that profession.
