Thread: How to defend againest poison and disease

Hi

Let me start by explaining my situation, I am one investigation box away from master bounty hunter, I have the first two support boxes in pistoleer, and 2/1/0/0 medic. I am not a power gamer, I do not have the super weapons or armor, an unlimited supply of food, and spices, or the million credits bank account.

I do not want to start an arguement about how combat medics are under damaged in PVE, have no defense, no other attacks in their profession, or have to spend 168 skill points, I understand most of that very well. Nor do I want to start an agruement about how they are overpowered, I could care either way.

What I would like is for CM's to offer their opinion on how to defend againest poisons and diseases without having a doctor in my back pocket. I do not PVP often, and usually it is spur of the moment. With the other professions I have found ways to defend againest mind attacks. Riflemen get knocked down and stop shooting, Bounty hunters can be countered with a good helmet except maybe with the new guns now.

What I cannot do is stop a poison once it is applied to me. Maybe I am wrong, but I also seem to get poisoned before I am in range if the CM. I've tried buffs and food, I seem to last another tick or two. From what I understand food allows for 25 poison resists, an arkuaran(sp)belt another ten, potency of the diseases andpoisons are over hundred.

I admit to not completely understanding the profession, my logic or the way I'm trying to combat them may be flawed which is why I posted here, who better ask about viable solutions from a profession then that profession. Without becoming a doctor myself, or never PVPing unless there is a doctor near that I know will heal me what can I do to combat this.

Now to clarify this post again, I am not calling for a nerf, I am not saying your unbalanced one way or another. If this post angers some of the CM's I didn't mean to. Please don't post that I have no skills, flame, or call me a whiner. I'm sure some of you have some possible solutions that I would like to try.

Thank you for your time.

Unlike every other special in the game, there is no way to prevent from being poisoned/diseased.

Good stun helmet (in case he's smart) and secondary mind buffs will pretty much take care of eyespam. Throw in some good sythsteak (additional 40% dmg resist) and you can stand around and laugh at him. If you really want to piss him off stack 2 brandies and some canape and spike a muon. None of these will help against a CM.

And if you're feeling lucky equip a PSG for an extra layer of armor and some more resists.

No, but you could have a doc cure you and you'd take ZERO damage, there's nothing like that for fighting ranged users...sure there's armor and food, but none of those COMPLETELY negate damage like a poison cure does to us... and then there's the "waaaa I don't want a doc, why do I have to rely on someone else?", well you expect us to rely on the armorsmiths to make uber armor and the chefs to make that synthesteak for us so that we can survive against you, why is it so wrong that everyone else has to rely on a doc?

Cos all these whiners care about are themselves. They want themselves to be independant and all the rest to be so dependant that we can't get enough help and are screwed.

Achillies, it's not happening. Shut up and go back to the forums you came from. We don't like you here.

I'll say it again, no other profession requires you to have another player actively following you.

And that is wrong, why? BTW, I would argue that Commandos pretty much require that you have a Doc around as well, for the new Fire Blanket that Docs have. So we are not the only profession with that issue.

Wrong. All you need is a novice medic and decent stims and wound packs.

And what if they ever made stims A's only usable by novice medics? That's still on the bubble and will probably happen.

Not wrong if you are talking about a Health or Action poison, either. That support class will also work in that case. Either way you still are relying on the skills of another profession.
