Thread: How are people supposed to get med xp now?
Everyone and their brother has a pet of some kind now (Faction or through CH) and since player HAMs can never even remotely match creature HAMs players don't take, pets do.
That means players aren't getting hurt and don't want to get hurt since that also means having to buy new armor. If they're not getting hurt (as much) what are we going to heal for exp?
The beautiful part of getting exp off healing pets was that I wasn't stuck in the Med Center/Cantina hoping someone would come in all banged up.
We all know about Med center exp being famine or famine (can't ever really be a feast because it seems everyone has at least novice medic). If you're on a busy planet there will be 3+ other medics/doctors there all trying for the sameexp as you. If you're on a dead planet you can wait literally hours before a person ever trickles in.
So what are we left with?
Med center healing? Better hope they don't have insurance or that negates your WHOLE profession..
There's always Cantina healing if you can handle all the whines about tips and are lucky enough not to see other medics there trying, once again, for the same exp..
Enhances, for those with some doc skills, are huge experience. An enhance-d is good for 600-900 xp. You buff only health and action, followed by a heal and you're picking up over 2k xp for 30 seconds work or less. Buff the secondary attributes and the gains get ridiculous.
Getting in a hunting group has always been better exp than med centers. It's not quite as good now without the pet healing, but it's still very good. If you're fighting really tough stuff, just make sure that you don't attack yourself. There's nothing that will kill a hunting party faster than their lone medic getting killed in a big battle.
If you wait for all the critters to lock onto someone, you can safely run around in the middle of combat healing at will without any risk to yourself.

Eh? Thats what ranged stims are for, so we dont have to run around where we might get attacked.
I can stay 30 meters back and still get everyone in the group.

Your a combat medic (presumably since your posting here) so get some combat. Get yourself in a big group of people and go look for something to kill. Me anda small group of friends went to Fort Tusken the other night, and ended up merging with a nother gorup of people there, so I had more than 20 people to heal as we ran through the caves. I made 30k med xp in about an hour that night, just from ranged heals.
That's good and all if you play during peak hours which I don't always (or often) have the opportunity to do..Quite a bit of the time I'm one of a few souls running around at 2-3am EST..
To be quite honest these recent changes have me losing faith in the game. I simply do not look forward to doing the same stuff I did as a Novice Medic to earn exp.
I still insist this change (pet healing exp) was done because they felt people were 'leveling' too quickly. How in the world could this not have been forseen through beta?
Player HAM=1000-1200ish
Faction Pet HAM=8000-9200
Battle something 'small' like a nest of Giant Dalyrakes and see which you get better exp off of (assuming your not healing yourself) in an hour or even 30 mins..
The same way as everyone did before there were so many pets ?
I mastered CM and never healed a pet.
Pet healing needed to go, it was too easy to level in medic.

I momentarily forgot which forum I was in ![]()

so are you saying that the only way you have been getting med xp was to have your pet fight, then heal it?
if so, that was never the intent of this class. A CM is intended to heal damage to other players during combat (with a few uniquePvP attacks). We are a support class, andIt SHOULD be very difficult to level up playing solo.If you dont find yourself in groups very often, perhaps you should re-evaluate your goal for being a CM.
And im not telling you you should give up CM.
Im just suggesting you think about what aspects of CM you like and want to be able to do, and then figure out the best way to get it.

I'm sorry, I just looked through my manual but missed where it said I couldn't have a faction pet and then heal it after battle for exp.
My work shifts change quite a bit and since I'm not always able to play at times where there are big hunting parties I substituted with pets and made my own 'mini raids.' This allowed me to keep on pace with my friends who DO get to play during peak times so on the rare occasions I could play with them I could keep up with them.
For the record: Maybe YOU see it as a support class, but that ~hundred thousand of COMBAT experience I earned pre-healing gives combat exp patch says otherwise, so does my pistol line as well as my Pistoleer spec.
I'm tired of playing healing classes that can do damage and THEN told I'm not allowed to do that. Clerics in DAoC were like this too--in the beginning they could heal, they could do damage and they could buff. Their damage line got nerfed so bad that no one trains it anymore.
I see the same things starting to happen here. Instead of allowing Mind Wounds to be healed (like everyone wants) they just nerfed our mind poisons. Instead of being able to solo when I wanted to with pets AND further my career I'm now 'not allowed' to.
I thought the beauty of this game was that we got exp for doing that very thing. If I'm healing why shouldn't I get healing exp?
