Currently I am a Bounty Hunter...brand new, just a novice with one level into pistol. But so far, it doesn't seem what I was hoping it would -- I have most of Medic mastered, and love that. From the second I heard of it...combat medic seemed AWESOME to me.

Think I should stick with what I have, and just hope BH works out in the end...or go with my very original plan, the hope to have fun...be a CM, a best group member, and just enjoy the game.

I fear the moment I leave BH, it will magically be fixed and made better. I just am curious as to what current CMs think of their professions...

I am currently and have been TKM (flames not needed) since opening day,I have agrowing likeness for the pike.

I started off the other night and wow maybe I am spoiled but it seems to be one of the slowest leveling professions. I am not trying insult anyone here.

My question is, before I dump my master fighting profession how much of a differenace does MAster Pikeman make.

I know the speed will not be the same as TKM but it seemed like I spent more time casting heals on myself and fanning the creature with my newly created wind source. IE my pike that does not hit.

I am still struggling along, whether it be forthe love of torture or the desire to make MAster.

I talked to one master pikeman in the game and they advised me to stay with TKM. I thought how insulting for your profession.

I kind of like the underdog profession.

I am 100% PVE and what I am asking is, I currently solo rancor layers buffed with very little issues. Will i be able to do the same when I reach master pikeman?

I guess I am sick of so many more TKM out there and would like a change but only if I can still fight high lvl

mobs.

Thanks for your help

Novice and Master pike is like night and day. Our accuracy improves greatly as you near master and isn't much of an issue in the end(especially with a lance with +13 at all ranges). The two +30 accuracy mods you get before master are awesome and help out a lot. At master, I didn't notice the little bit of extra accuracy we're given, but every little bit helps. Also, the higher speed of a higher level pikeman is something that should be noted. Sometimes it's nice to just kill mid level mobs with auto-attack once you get fast enough. Like many professions, I would say pikeman isn't dabbler friendly and you can't know our true power until you reach master.

But to answer your question, yes, you can slaughter most high level mobs as a master pikeman with little effort, Rancor lairs included.

For pure PvE, buffed and with good armor, you'll do fine. TKM is without a doubt though, sadly, a much better overall class.

You can expect: +sweet animations, +fun/useful area attacks, +higher possible single hits (swordsman has us beat by a little here currently), +better armor piercing (the powerhammer/scythe are better weapons, though), +decent bleeds, -lower defenses, -lower speed (though we can hit the speed cap with a good sliced weapon), -lower accuracy, -higher HAM costs (not a problem if you're buffed), -no more meditation/FoW ...

But like I said, for PvE you should enjoy it.

For pre-novice levelling, use a basic lance, then switch to the VL until you have Support II, then you can go with the LVA.

Thanks for the help guys. The Pikeman group seems pretty tight nit. Honestly mostly the class for me is astetics and I dig the animations. It sounds crazy to want to give up FOW,POwer Boost but what the hell huh. It's only a game and I could always just craft some wounds packs..

Its more or less a matter of opinion, the better majority of rangers are so because of choice, it requires dedication and alot of "alone time".

the out come of the prof are pretty nice, with many skills that will help in the hunting of creatures and the ocational person. It may not bring in the baccon like other profs, and it may not be as strong as othre hybride profs, it is self rewarding and enjoyable,

If u really want to be a ranger, then whats stoping you?

While most of our core skills do not live up to there potential (see Calc's TOP ISSUES post), the fact remains that we are still probably one of the more well balanced professions in the game. Additionally, as a long time lurker, I've found ours to be one of the strongest community of players which has always given me hope for the future of our profession.

If you enjoy exploring the worlds of SWG simply for the sake of exploring, then Ranger is for you. If you are an achiever type person looking to max out your character or make a lot of money, then this is probably not, nor will it ever be, the profession for you.

Going the Triple Master route myself. Getting closer every night, and so far it's quite a fun combination!

(Sorry Caylin, I couldn't handle wimping my Pistol skills to go Fencer instead of TK.)

I have found, especially recently, that the triple master templateof Master Smuggler, Master Pistoleer and Master Teras Kasai Artist with good Doc-Buffs are GREAT for PVE.

But against other players, you don't stand a chance. Ever. At all. Unless by some sheer form of luck.

Hopefully though that will change soon.
