Thread: making money as a Master Combat Medic

As we all know, medics are poor. We spend our own money paying for harvestors, factories, resources, and houses with chem crafting stations, and droids with chem crafting station. All of this money goes into making stimpacks and woundpacks so that we can heal our fellow players. Combat medics and Doctors are broke all teh time rom this.

We do have some means to make money. We can start crafting out meds to sale. Well most of the Doctors and Combat medics that I know have one class at master, and two trees in teh other medic profession. This does not leave a lot of points left over to become merchants and set up a vendor. So that leaves us with an option to sell in bulk to a merchant for a lower price.

Our other option to make money is to run missions. This brings me to my biggest upset about the Combat Medic class. As a Master Combat Medic, with Pistol 4, the highest weapon I can wield is a DW pistol. when I choose to run destroy mission, the mission terminal checks to see my combat ability, and assigns me a misson based on that. The missions that I can recieveat my combat level, range from 500 to 2k credits depending on how far away they are. I have to run at least 10 mission a dayto cover myupkeepbills.

Now I usually run mission with a friend of mine that is a TKA. He is able to get missions that have a payout of 5k plus! He is not even a master TKA yet. Some of the 5k mission that he recieves are for the same targets that I only get paid 1k to complete.

Tonight Ahazi was loading and I could not get online to play my Master CM, so I decided to create a char on another server and play. Since I am bored and frustrated with surveying and crafting, I decided to make a pure combat class. I created a wookie brawler, I enter the game as a Novice braler. No skills at all. I goto a mission terminal, and guess what? I am getting paid 1-2k per mission. A novice Brawler with no skills trained at all, gets paid the same amount as a Master Combat Medic.

Now, I am not asking for Master Combat Medics to get high level missions to fight things that we have no chance against, but it would be nice if we were able to recieve higher pay for missions based on the time we invested to get to the level that we are at. The mission terminals should not base pay solely on the combat skills of the person requesting the mission. The terminals should take into consideration the skill level of the person that is requesting the mission.

Some of you might say that the combat classes get high pay, because the mission are harder. This is not true. I get missions that pay me 1,5K to destroy a Zucca Boar lair. With my pistol skills, Zucca boarscon white to me. Zucca Boars can kill me. Am I taking less of a risk to run this mission, then say a TKA that gets a mission to fightGiant Worts? No.The missions the TKA gets paid 5k+ for are against creatures that conblue and white to him. We both take the same risk of getting killed. He gets paid more.

I would like to see mission change to reflect my high skills in my chosen profession. Teh combat types can keep teh destroy mission. Give me a class specific mission. Let me run medical mission to deliver medicine to field camps behind enemy lines. Give me medical missions to destroy creatures that carry plauge, they can be against creatures that are even to me, just pay me what I am worth. Make class specific missions for all classes.

Bounty Hunters have thier own mission terminals. lets see mission terms for each class

Medic terminals. Only CM, Medics and Doctors can use. Each mission that is given is based on the current level of medical skill you have. I already gave examples of teh mission types

Bio-Eng. same type of terms for pay. Give mission to deliver DNA samples to people. Give mission to go and collect rare DNA from fierce creatures.

I am a bit tired, so that all teh examples I can come up with right now.

until then, thats me outside the cantina with the tin cup. Please drop in a few credits to support my drug crafting habit,,,

funny you mention this, but every mission i can get on Gorath/Rori is a rasp nest destroy mission, paying between 1.100 and 1300 credits. every single one of them. not a single gualama or squall or jax mission, and i haven't seen a single NPC destroy mission unless it's a faction mission.

Maybe it is the planet that you are on? I am on Naboo and I have no problems finding high paying missions. and until last night I was only at pistol expert. Also my targets range from chubas to RSF camps.

Combat medics don't get an increase in mission difficultly for climbing up the combat medic tree. This affects numberous other class as well such as creature handlers as smugglers despite their combat abilites increasing. They really need to fix the slider so that you can pick a mission difficulty of your choosing. I can solo any mission I can get on the 5 starting planets regardless of what I choose to target, so its utterly pointless to group.

Ok, here are some money making suggestions for you.

1) Do missions out of Coronet on Corellia. Take Crazed Durni missions. These pay big and you should be able to pull them with your current pistol rating. Difficulty 12 missions to kill these fuzzy bunny rabbits o' rage net me 3200-4200 depending on how far away from the terminal the mission is located.

I usually do a couple of these a day as well as...

2) Sell stim b's. There are a lot of people out there hungry for stim b's. Granted, it's not a lot of money, but putting 25 of those on the bazaar a day can net you a few thousand depending on how you price them. Every little bit helps. I usually just run a batch of stim b's in my factory each night before I go to sleep and plop them on the market the next day when I get home from work. They are sold before I can put the next batch up for sale usually.

well elenora, the issue is its hard to know how to do it... SOE said this game would be non-power gamer friendly, but it isnt if you wanna be a CM. we're an expensive class to fund and not everyone has the time energy and resources available to go around researching the best ways to do destroy missions. if you dont have the time to experiment or ask around here, then you're gonna get stuck by the fact that no planets give the same paying missions. if all planets gave missions paying the same amount for the same number of skill points you have invested, regardless of class i'd consider it balanced and fair to everyone.however, as it stands now the system is rediculously in favor of power gamers and combat types when it comes to money. sucks to be us...

agreed that it is far easier for combat types to make money...

CM is very difficult...i know many who gave up on CM after trying to get ranged 4...

if you need to know how to make efficient mission runs, ask someone...thats what helpers are for...

and there are some planets that are good for missions and others that are poor...Naboo is a very popular destroy mission planet...easy mobs, easy money...dont go to endor looking for easy missions...

these are stuff no in a manual thar u learn from playing and asking other players...

and missions give you mission based on your weapon skill...so if u find the ones offered are too hard..unequip ur weapon to get easier ones...

As a slow-moving, non-power gamer myself, I'd like to say that I'm a little appalled at the lack of patience being expressed about how "difficult" it is to become a Combat Medic. I've been on the game since Day 1 and have been methodically plodding along in my skillsets. Rather than try to rapidly power up to an advanced profession, I've been spreading my skill points around. I have Survey 4, am working on Engineering 4, with a Level on each of the other Artisan skillsets. I have Level 3 on all the Marksman skills. I'm working on Organic Chem 4 in Medic, with Level 2 or 3 in the other skills. I can support myself solo indefinitely with the stuff my 4 harvesters mine, and have had up to 70k in the bank at various times before spending it on useful items, like a pre-nerfed Probot that's extremely handy hunting things around Theed, not to mention being able to craft with it in the field I'm also advancing up the rank path in the Imperial armed forces, having already dispensed with several high-ranking Rebel "officers", including one Lt. General.

The game's barely been out 1 month and people are complaining about not being able to level up fast enough! Take some time and explore your surroundings people! I am an expert on almost all the terrain on Corellia. There are some wondrous and frightening sights out there on that planet and others too. You've got 250 skill points to use, so advance up the areas you get to and try some of the other skillsets out. You can always drop the skills later when you need them for Expert level, and making yourself an experienced generalist in many different fields can give you options for moving around you won't have by focussing to quickly on one track.

I have a hard time believing I'll get bored too quickly with this game!

Group with someone, you will have same amount of money but can tackle better missions with less downtime AND you'll be getting medical exp in addition to combat.

One thing I have found, as well, is that sometimes there are groups heading to Lok, Dantooine or Endor hanging out in Theed, Bestine or Coronet looking for a doc to go with them. I've even seen people yelling that they'll pay the docs ticket.

You could try hanging around starports and asking if anyone is going to those places and do they need a doctor to come along.

I know I managed to pick up a team when I went to Dantooine to get berries. Made more then enough money to cover the cost of the trip, made over 20k medical xp in a short time, and got berries to boot.

Currently I am doing missions on Lok with scout/pistoler (not master yet in either) and we rack up 5-8k money + huge exp per trip about 20 minutes.

I don't have problems making money as a Master Doc/Combat Medic. I think the only time where medics and their "elite" classes encounter this problem is when they get stuck raising their crafting trees, and have no time to go out on missions or whatnot to compensate for the resource loss. I found that once I established my harvesters and took care of the crafting portions of the tree I was able to make a decent income helping friends level their elite professions while doing missions on the big-ticket worlds.

Yup. What ^^^^^ said.

I am a master of no profression, yet I only haveonly19 skill points left. Getting close to surrender time for some of them, and I don't see why people seem to refuse to want to pick up profession training that would help them now and they can surrender easily later. Currently I have:

Artisan - Engineering IV, Domestic Arts I, Surveying IV

Scout - Explore IV, Trapping II, Survival I, Hunting IV

CH - Taming IV, Training III, Empathy III, Management III

Marksman - Ranged IV, Pistol IV

Pistoleer - Novice

Medic - First Aid II, Organic Chem III, Diagnostics I

I used to have Brawler and some Unarmed too just for kicks.

Best advice I can give for making money: Pick up Novice Scout. You're killing critters anway, so Harvest their Hides, Bones and Meat. You need the Organics and you can sell them for 6c a unit on the Bazaar almost anytime you want to. Those materials are always in demand.

Oh - and I haven't had to pay so much as a penny for my meds. I make and use my own and rather easily keep myself supplied in raw materials, since I can Harvest scads of Organics with Scouting and can sample up any resource I might need. I'll usually spend one morning a week (hence the slow progression in Medic) sampling up all the resources I need to make 40 Stim-Bs then make 'em all in one sitting. They go into two 20 capacity containers and then I go out and fight with my friends and what-not until I start running low.

It's only a grind if you want it to be, and you don't have to make money "as a CM". Make money by picking up some other skills that will let you make all the money you need. You can always toss those skills later if you start running low on points to progess in the skills you really want.
