Is it worth it?

err yes. If you know how to use it to your advantage.

Suppression fire is one of the most useful shots in game vs mobs that're charging you. Spray this and voila, they're stopped in their tracks and often are posture changed to kneeling or kneeling to prone.
It's extremely useful.

It used to be a solid gold shot, because you could spam it. You could have 1 group member keep up a suppression fire, while the others dealt damage. It was huge.

Now its on a 30 second timer like other knockdowns, but it can still be a life saver. Flying mobs in particular. Its expensive from a skill point standing, so if you are short, you might give this up, but it is certainly valuable and does work. Its up to the individual.

I really, really like Suppression Fire. It's a great way to minimize damage and you can alternate it with a KD attack (if you have one) to almost keep a mob from ever hitting you. I use it in almost every single PvE battle I have (and sometimes in PvP as a desperate move to try and get some extra distance from a melee or pet).

I'm going to have to give it up in order to master Pistoleer with my current template, but to give you an idea of how much you like it, I'm giving up my 4/0/0/0 Scout first.

(with vehicles and mounts in the game and the majority of PvP fought on fairly level ground, terrain negotiation isn't as much of a requirement as it used to be)

Suppression is invaluable. So are the to hit bonuses granted by that line. In PvP you can keep a melee'er off of you. In PvE you can keep ranged mobs from running all over the place and melee mobs pretty much at bay using suppression and ANY other knockdown.

Plus, I'm not sure of this, but posture down attacks should knock people off their vehicles. Mobs do this to me anyway, i hope it works on players.

wow u must seriously value supression shot, to walk slow again up the mountains of dath when u got 6 or so nightsisters on ur back just doesnt bare thinking about heh

thing is i never use warning shot, or aim, or the other one thats on there, i was also wondering if the +X on the various addons are actually worth it too, how much would i suffer if i dropped all that tree?

in regards to the other post about dirty fighting, thats where im headed right now, gona level teras kasi fundimentals in about 3k of unarmed fighting. then up the smuggler DF tree. thing is i also wanna master TKA and if possible the whole of smuggler, but not sure on that one yet - so ive gota lose some other areas for definate.

anyway, thanks for the help

Hehe, I never would have given up scout in the days before vehicles and mounts, but with all that new speed the 29 skill points I could get back by dropping 4/0/0/0 scout was just too appealing (especially since I couldn't Master Pistoleer without it in my current template). But yeah, Suppression is going last because it'll be the move I give up right before I master Pistoleer... I'm keeping all the way to the climb there.

Are there any plans to remove ranged support 4 form the combat medic tree

i am a master fencer/ novice Ch and the extra skill points needed to get novice marksman and ranged support 4 mean I can never make master CM.. bu i could untrain fencer and go up the pistol/rifle/carbine tree. Could they change what it need to get MCM to mastermedic.40k combat xp (like Commando/bounty hunter)

Wish they would, cant even remember last time I carried a gun, let alone fired it.

I feel like one of those casters from everquest, running around carrying 2 steins haha

Your a COMBAT medic not a doctor there for you should be experenced in COMBAT. Hence the need for ranged supoort 4.
