Thread: Tired of the argument our poisons need 75% reduction in PvsP

This is dumb logic plain and simple. For anyone who thinks this, read on.

First off to use the best poisons you have to be a Master CM. You have to reach the very top to get the best poisons and diseases, all ones prior to this level basically suck. So we are talking about a Master skill, not some novice skill

Comparison:

Master CM poison with the best of resources might net you a 500 damage per tick dot. 1 tick is 8 seconds long, meaning every 8 seconds, we do....500 damage. Lets compare

Commando: Flamethrower -1176 damage in 8 seconds

Bounty Hunter at a measly Tier 2 ability gets Eyeshot - 784 damage in 8 seconds

Pistoleer - Bodyshots - 566 damage in 8 seconds.

These are just 3 examples of classes, all NOT Master who all do more damage then a CM poison.

If we implement a 75% reduction to poison in PvsP my already underpowered 500 damage poison will now do 125 damage every 8 seconds. 125 damage every 8 seconds....how the heck is that balanced with other professions damage?

In every MMORPG I've ever played, one thing has remained constant...

DOTs suck.

Nothing is more irritating than getting hit with a DOT. As such, calls for DOT nerfs are usually very loud, and very popular.

I don't see the devs changing our damage. They didn't forget about DOTs when they put in the 75% reduction, they knew how much damage we did, and they left it as it was. In fact that same patch boosted our damage by making our skill-mods work.

It's just the nature of our damage that infuriates people. Not our DPS, or our range, or even the old non-los attacks we used to have.

I believe the devs rely on their little database queries to determine who gets nerfed. Until their database says "x percent of all PVP deaths were caused by poision", they won't nerf us. And I don't see many people taking CM just for the poisions. It's got too much crafting, and too many skill trees for it to become very popular.

I know I see very few CM's on my server. And the number doesn't seem to be growning. Until I start to see people jumping on-board the CM profession, I won't worry much about getting nerfed.

Very few Master CM's on Chilastra. Ive seen 4, myself included in that 4. Considering the resources required to be a Master CM and do it effectively, if you are a casual gamer it will be very difficult to maintain this profession, ideally IMO we are a power gamer profession if there was ever to be one.

I dont expect them to nerf our damage either, if they did we would be totally underpowered. Thats the day I would drop CM, possibly the game as well.

Khragoni personally know and group w/ 2 others so i guess that makes 3 right there.i have seen quite a few pop up since they made our class competitive. when i was still advancing i couldn't find one to save my life, cost me a pretty penny to get to master. but they are all over the place. seen a lot of expert CM too, they are just a blink away too.

most of the MCM are in PAs. thankfully most of them are in rebel PAs.

The people who always get upset are the power gaming flavor of the month types who spend the least amount of skill points for the best PvP char. This month is the sub 100 point master pistoleers who just cannot stand to see someone who spent more points in something they refuse to do themselves have a tough char in PvP. They will use every possible excuse to get their class attention and every opposing class nerfed. Especially ones in which they dont have the patience to do themselves.

You see these people will not craft for hours, spend 30- 100+k a week for supplies, or take a primary healing class. They are concerned for only one thing. How good are they solo in pvp with the least amount of effort.

If a commando hits me with a flame thrower and I mind poison him at the same time... not only do I die first but I die with about 400 wounds.

If a bounty hunter sees me first I am knocked down and eye shot to death before I get into range.

If a Rifleman sees me first by the time I do get into range I can either throw the poison if I still have enough mind or first aid my mind bleeding after which I dont have enough to throw my poison.

If a meleer catches me off guard at close range I am dead before I can throw a poison or heal myself.

Were not uber, but were not easy victims of the flavor of the month classes either. So they will continue to whine.

I didnt say I dont see many CM's, I dont see many Master CM's. Maybe you see more then I do, but I presonally havent see too many *shrugs*. I do agree that there are MORE now then in the past, but that will always be the case. We will see more a month from now too.

The rest of these weapons are correctly setup (at least for now). The commando class gets next to no defensive mods. They have reusable weapons that are fully functional at 16 meters or less. All of their other damage producing abilities are based around consumables which are extremely expensive.

-Raph Koster,

This quote made today about Commandos sums up for me that for CM's the fact that we have a long delay on poisons(same as heals), have only a 50m max rangeand the fact we use a large number of components and rare ones that the 500 damage per tick is more the justified and is not an imbalanced damage ratio compared to other professions.

> Bounty Hunter at a measly Tier 2 ability gets Eyeshot - 784 damage in 8 seconds

Heh at 150 per shot each second in 8 sec BH will dish around 1200dmg (see screenshot, and that's normal occurance)

They have 150dps comparing to our 30-50.

But that's not even a problem, problem is - one-shot kills are back (got hit with LLC yesterday for over 1000 - fare enough, don't go close to man with cannon, and then by acid rifle for 1300 )

By the way there is at least 7 master CMs on Chilastra, at least 4 are imperials, 4 master CMs are very active on this board.

i hope i see a 500 DOT on my server some day but with the poor resources we have 300 is the best ive seen.

On the other side weaponsmiths on my server do some awsome weapons, i was 1 hit eye shot before this patch, oh yes this server as some awsome weapons, frig i do 120 in PVP with my novice marksmen skills, i get hit fore 600-700 by BH with eye shot, and they can do that 8 times fore 1 tick of my DOT.

We are too much dependent on resources to haveatacks this weak.

Actually we got hurt by this, We were getting 100% increase of damage on poisons, after the patch our effectiveness modifier at master is +90, which means only a 90% increase in damage.

500 a tick?! Wow, I really need to find some better resources as the best I've been able to come up with is 300 a tick. And here I thought I had some pretty decent resources...

i think the most ive gotten is in the 250-300 range myself...atho what really hurts is i need to burn up several packs before on lands. so to get that 300 or 500 damage i just spent 3 or so packs...not really effective imo
