Is this worthwhile for a commando to have? If so, any tips/guides/FAQ's on getting it?

Question:
If I only have battle armor stats of 20% will this armor hinder me to much? or should I get Master carbine which give me 40%?

first of all, the commando itself cannot wear the katarn armor, and if you are master carbineer as your second prof you will have NO hinderance because you have 60% for all three hinderance modifiers 
with my template i am not able to wear the katarn armor... ridiculous... a commando and not able to wear an armor which was designed for them lol 
but who cares

whoops, and yes, 40% hinderance will be not good for you

What about a commando/pistoleer?
Can only commando/Carbineer's wear it?

So what are the profession requirements to wear katarn armor? is there a certification needed to wear this?

Katarn Armor is Battle Armor. You would need one of the prof's certified to wear Battle Armor in order to wear it. Yes it is stupid that a Commando must be a Fencer/Doc/CM/Carbineer/CH/Ranger etc to wear it when Commando is mentioned all throughout the quest... Blue was the color for the ARC troopers, as well as Anakin's personal Commando unit in RotS. They must have all been carbineers...

The devs said they would fix this so commando's could wear it.

At least they couldgive us the Rebulic Commando game armor as a bone until AOE, Elemental damage and our actual usefulness is fixed.
