Thread: Bug or what?
On taming missions, keep other pets stored or store pet after killing adults then shoot lair and see what pops out, remove weapons before starting tame, and stay within 200m of lair if the baby agros, to lose baby agro, run around the lair at a safe distance from adults of course NOT away from the lair in a straight line. best bet is to try to circle the lair at about 60-100m, the baby will lose interest (calm down) soon as it loses interest, run up to it as fast as possible and start tamin again, hopefully keeping you at a safe distance from any adults that may have spawned while runnin from the baby.
Mind you of course you are on Dant and doing the above to lose the babies agro is not an easy task due to the amount of red creatures, but if you run out past the 200m mark the baby will despawn on you like it has been happening.
Alternative to keeping pets stored or storing after killing adults is to NOT have your pet guard you and do not under any circumstance have it attack the lair, the fastest way to lose a baby is to send your pet in to attack the lair, since it will almost immediately start attacking your pet when it spawns.
Generally for myself when on taming runs, if I must have any pets out so I can dispose of any adults, I never have them guard me and when all the adults are gone I make my pets stay a good distance from the lair while I go and take a shot at it to get it to start spawning, wait till spawns are done, if no babies pop, I then begin disposing of the adults again with my pets... rinse and repeat until you get the baby you want.
NOTE: it's been stated before on this board that if you are down to the last adult (lol if you have been keeping track of how many you killed and know how many are suppose to spawn) you can try running out past 200m at which point the lair may reset itself, ie. healing full, spawns resetting thereby letting you keep using the same lair rather than having to fully destroy it and move on to another... Now the devs may have fixed this, I did see some sort of note to this effect in one of the patchs but it may be like the fix they did on group members becoming invisible to other group members... they said they fixed this but it is still happening. I haven't tested this since that patch note so I have no idea if they really did fix it.
Anyway that's my thoughts on this.

There are 2 ways to get a nest to reset. One is with missions. If you have a mission, ANY time you go out of range of the nest, it will respawn. This gives a chance for new babies, heals the nest and makes more in the nest.
For non-missions, they will still cycle if you leave the 200m radius as long as you do NOT damage the nest or anything guarding it. You can just run back and forth from 200m, making sure that you actually let the nest disappear before you run back (let it disappear from radar). However, if the nest is damaged, it will save the state and not reset no matter if you leave the 200m radius or not.
