I play on bloodfin and i can tell you that the posions and other DoTs are useless in PvP i have spent the last week trying to posion someone and they resist everytime. and with the high number of skill points we have to use to even BE a CM it doesn't leave enough to learn ranged/melee defense so i basicly get droped 2 seconds after i enter combat with another player i mean come on a 1200point mind shot on a play thats just JACKED

yea pvp is pretty much whoever gets the first shot off, now that there is plenty of bounty hunters and ch around, its not fun anymore. I remember when a battle lasted a while with you running around shooting and that kind of stuff, Now all i see is soandso uses eye shot on you for 893 dmg, soandso uses eyeshot on you for 943 dmg, you have been incapacitated by soandso....you know the rest

I can make a mind poison with potency of 100 that does 330(says 165 on the poison but usually does double the damage)damage for 5-7 ticks. Probably can kill anyone before if you have the chance to throw it at them.

First of all, how effective are combat medics in pvp? From my experience, people seem to be dead before any kind of healing can even be accomplished, but what about poisions and disease stuff? How well do they actually work?

Also I was wondering what a good character setup would be for a combat medic. Is combat medic enough for a good offense or should i work on being a pistoleer or something too? Thanks

CMs are jokes in PvP...hide behind a wall and heal...thats all we can do

combat medics are very good in pvp, you arent supposed to be master medic, doctor and cm. you are supposed to be master medic, cm, and some other fighting skill such as masterrifleman/pistoleer/carbineer. in which case combat medics are very good because not only do the deal a lot of damage but they can heal others and themselves which is very important considering heals are always needed and bleeding has to be taken care of fast. i dont think i could ever be happyrelying onsomeone else to heal me in a battle.

problems with your reasons...

CM are supposed to be good in PvP but they arent...

CMs werent meant to rely on weapon damage, they were meant to kill with Dots.

You have to be a master doc crafter to have the best components for ur packs

healing damage is pretty much meaningless for the most part in PvP because PvP has turned into mind damage..not to mention the zerg nature of it which makes it last like 30 secs at the most...bleed and first aid is so messed up that it takes an average of 3 /firstaid to stop 1 bleed...even at master medic level...

and like u said since u dont think of ever being happy relying on some1 else for heals, why go CM and not go doctor since the idea of ranged heals is to heal others!

if we were meant to deal massive damage with weapons, why cant we heal and special at the same time...or for that matter use poisons and specials at the same time...

basically what you are saying if u really read ur post is that...

You are good in PvP if you are a master rifleman/pistoleer/carbiner that has some healing abilities...

nothing you have said pertains to being an effective CM in PvP...

dont mix up ur marksman skills with ur PvP skills...some of use are medical professionals and not combat types...but CM promises an alternative to being an effective combatant even without markmans skills...andthe devshave yet to deliver on this promise

Overall I like CM in PvP much better then Doc : you can add a lot to battle with damage (as you should be specialist in at least one weapon line, unless for some misterious reason you gave it up, or better yet novice rifleman/pistoleer/carabiner), heal better then doc (no need to chase) and have poison as utility (does not require LoS to kill your pray).

Most of the problmes with PvP (battles too short, too many mind-damaging, too many pets) are not really class specific.

the only PvP issue we have right now is that Dots SUCK!!

too slow too weak too easy to resist...

other than that they are perfect...

I think the people who say combat medics suck at pvp are wrong, especially once the obvious bugs are fixed. Too many people chose this profession just for the ranged heals and don't see the pvp potential. I predict combat medics will be whined about assuch a strong pvp class that poisons and diseases will be nerfed(if only to require los)

Poison has no los requirement so you can poison people through walls. Poisons are not effected by armor and can't miss, although they can be resisted. Imagine a mastercombat medic using mind poison c with advanced components through a wall on some poor sap and keepingtheir distance. If they're not a tk or a doctor or grouped witha docthey're dead. They will never evenget a shot off at you. Once ae stims are fixed you will be able to killoff entire groups in one shot. Or you could ruin everyone's day with an ae disease. Nevermind the massive heals you get that make mind damage the only real viable way to killyou.

Or imagine using it with your weapon skill of choice. Bleeds and poisons stack. Hell carbine even has an ae bleed to go with ae action poison.

carbine has no AE bleed, it's a bleed + AE damage + AE posture change and at least the posture change is a bug.

the problem is, that poisons and diseases take way too long to take effect, which is absolutely not viable in the current pace of combat. the only thing we have is ranged heals and unless you are fighting on Lok or Endor, there realy is no reason to use them. I can keep any Tusken group alive without them f.i. (ok Tusken are not realy tough except for the blind spin that sends his target to clone imediatly anyways)

I too play on bloodfin, and I have to say, CMs are actually a pretty damned good pvp class in certain situations. those being, where you are taking part in action with many other players. i routinely take part in raids of bestine with a large group of at least 10 people. its great fun and quite effective. I stay in the middle of the pack and wake up incapped players all along the way as we rampage through the city. I can choose to stay in the thick and put myself at risk while dealing damage, or stay out of fighting range and heal from behind the troops. the only thing I **edit**ing hate are rifleman. that mind shot without a way to quickly cure easily makes rifleman the best class in the game. there isnt a single way to counter that in combat, not one. but, alas, not even docs can heal mind, so its ok.

all in all,I enjoy being a CM in pvp in large packs. its pretty much worthless in any group of less than 5 people. but then again, all pvp is worthless then since its over too damned quick.

CM's are mostly useless in PvsP against opponents who use 1 shot kills. Even I can 1 shot Head shto 2 for 1900 damage....nothing a CM can do with that. If you want to go into PvsP combat, be a Doctor/Rifleman so you can buff your health bars and stand a better chance.
