Thread: Combat Medics in PvP
Oh well. Maybe by the end of summer when the game is reduced to Mind-Shot Arena, they'll look into it.
I hope Elenora sees your post about that 1900 mind-shot, I've never seen higer than 1750, but I don't have that much experience. I don't think, even with food, AND spice buffs, any race but a mon-cal can even get their mind up to 1900. That's just sad, (but of course, if WE could heal mind-damage, then WE'D be unbalanced... sheah, right)
BTW, if you want to PVP, either get in the cities where you can hide behind walls. Or throw a mind-poision from 64 yards and BURST RUN AWAY.
Weak tactics, I know, but the best we've got.
Wanna hear something else that will make you sick?
With the new CH changes, all you need is Taming 4 to be able to have the uber-mobs.
That means only 20 skill points into CH to get rancors.
That means you can be a BH with a pet rancor.
I'm still wondering how the devs are going to get around this slight imbalance.
It seems like NONE of the other classes give 1 tinker's darn about game balance... They just wanna be uber.
And the devs ARE listening to them.
Let's stop censoring ourselves. If this game is going to be imbalanced this badly towards extreme damage, let's get our voices out there for extreme healing.
If it turns out that we're a little too powerful, then we'll get nerfed. But until then, let's shoot for the moon.
Demand insta-on-the-run-full-3-bar-heals.
Demand rez-packs that bring people back to 100%.
Demand buff packs that work.
Demand poisions that would be worth making.
We're the adults in the game. We're the ones who care about having a balanced profession. But because of our timidity, we're getting left behind.
Overpowered is relative
People here that are griping that CM's fare poorly in pvp clearly have not tried it very much.
My firsthand experience are that the poisons in PVP are devastating.
Try playing around a bit more with your poisons before you proclaim that we are a poor PvP class - just because we have umpteen other things that are broken doesn't mean that this particular scenario is as well.
Caveat: Of course we suck against the 1 shot kills, but so does every other class - that is not a CM specific problem, but a general problem that pvp has in this game.
what resources/packs do you use? What tactics employed? Methods?
We need some details.
I'm seeing mediocre at best. Would like to get input from someone who's had a better experience.
Rahv i pvp extensively...
Poison are way underpowered...they are resisted at move than rates of 70% even when they hit the tick between damage is a joke...on par with the damage from my pistol bleed.
current you cant even make most the advanced comps for dots and even if u could, the fact that the game ignores advanced components on identical components makes the whole issue moot as to making advanced DOTs. granted when a Dot hits it can be effective...but seriously what other class would accept a 70% miss ratio on any of their specials...the fact is DOts are borked and thus they are being looked at...
i have toyed with poison extensively...
i have made all potency poisons and all effectiveness poision...
its a wash either way..u either get a dot that stick a bit more and does nothing more than tickle...or u get a powerful packs that takes forever to stick...
all this on top of the fact that our combat medic effectiveness doesnt enhance the damage with DOTs or that applying poison speed is properly linked to CM ranged speed...
so yes DOts can be effective but they arent thats the whole issue at hand...the devs have borked the potential...

Yup, mind damage PWNS... I still can't believe the devs can miss how unbalanced mind-damage is compared to damage on the other 2 pools.

My T21 Rifle is sliced and is listed at 191-528 damage. I went to Moenia last night and killed 3 rebels before they even knew I was there, 1 shot and dead. Literally in10 minutes I went to Moenia, killed 3 rebels and took shuttle home. The 3 shots I made did ~950 on the first guy, ~1400 on second and1927 on third. The problem with PvsP is if someone uses body shot on an opposing player, we can heal that...ok nice. But the blue bar which eye shot and head shot target isnt healable and its not even PvsP, its who can hit their hotkey first wins. This isnt what I imagine PvsP as being. Personally, I think all special abilities should be removed for PvsP and just regular weapons used. This would make fights longer and more real.
There are many things contributing to the 1-shot kill PvP balance.
T21s are the only weapon with an AR 3, and they are rifles. AR 3 basically ignores any armor including composite. AR3 v AR1 (which is what all armor is at) is 50% bonus damage which negates the 50% resistance armor would give you.
The other factor is that the main way of resisting mind wounds is by buffing. Both food & spice take way too LONG to take effect. If you see an enemy in PvP you can't eat your food/spice, because by the time the **edit** things tick to max effetiveness you'll already be in the cloning facility. They should instantly raise your Mind Pool. Currently food/spice = USELESS for pvp.
The best PvP healing class right now is the doctor. Because people will die, there's nothing you can do about it, but the doctor can revive them from death. Trying to keep someone alive in PvP is a joke.
First of all i think you are all thinking of the combat medic the wrong way. yeah maybe poisons was meant to be an effect killing tool for us. but right now its broke. look at it it this way. I was a Medic in the US Army for 10 years. ok a medic has been taught his medical skills. Great. and he is taught basic fighting stuff. well your not really meant to be great at either its a mixture of the 2 your looking for. we can fight long enought to get off a ranged heal on one of our group mates that needs a quick heal. i know we cant do diddle about the mind wounds that pvp has turned into. but throw around a health heal or two and they will see ya doing what ya can maybe youll take a few hits for a buddy to keep him alive longer. run out and get your incapatitated buddy off the groud before he gets DB. thow a few first aides at the bleeding guy do it all. why? because we can. your a combat medic. your ment to be in the shiznit. if ya dont like mind shot take up rifle. i can go prone with my lazer rifle and pop off between 500 and 900 mind wounds a hit and im just and i dont even have riflemen yet. you guys that just kept your ranged weapon support and dropped the weapon skills are crazy. i got rifle and postil skills too. i can kill ya for afar and if ya get close ill pull out my pistol and shoot the crap outa ya and i can heal myself in the process. heres what ya do go find a mob tougher than your self and i mean a real challange. start combat prone at ranged. when ya take a few hits or the target advances on ya stand up do a quick heal and go prone again if ya can or pull out the pistol if there than close and keep firing. throw in a few heals on yourself. keep doing this until ya kill the mob or he kills you. its a good way to practice combat healing. now once ya good at that try it in a group instead of healing yourself heal a buddy. keep your meatshields alive and chances are youll stay alive too cause your mind shot have killed the opponent or your meat shields have. take a risk heal a buddy instead of yourself. but im low health and im gona die if i heal him first. you say. well if ya heal him and he kills the target and you die. big deal its a game. but then again the guy you sauved might turn out to be you new ingame best friend or a strong ally cause you just gave up your life for him. make a good name for yourself and youll never have a hard time finding a group, heck they will come looking for ya cause ya on they friends list and theyll see ya log in.
im having a great time as a combat medic broken or not. i like beings a healer and a combatant. if ya want to be a doctor with the best medicines then be a docotor dont waste your points on a combat medic be a healer in the rear with the gear. if ya want to be a medic the be a medic and pick up combat skills with your extra points. a rifle in the hands of a medic is a very deadly tool get at range 60m go prone fire off a few head shots and see what happens. heck i look for all you medics and docs on the feild cause i know chances are most of ya dont got skills in combat. and i hold my own against the combat types. i proably lose more than i win but im not meant too one on one but ive had several send me a tell saying your not as easy as the rest of the medics i fought. or good job and stuff like that. heck ive had a few that were shocked when i ran back from the clone and whent looking for them and killed them the second time around cause they hadnt gotten any healing.
dang.... try playing a brawler without any knockdown =) running at same speed as any kiter, taking similar damage... without a chance of catching up (especially against KD-er or smuggler).. can't tank yellow con mobs without a lot of luck.
compared to that, no LOS area effect disease that can't be healed other than by a doctor... hmmm...
but then again, for the points invested in CM, this class should defly be more effective...
I'd say lower the resist by a lot, but lose the no-LOS crap... (lose it now so there won't be any need to hear 13070173686 whine post about it later)
