Ok, I just proudly made combat medic last night, so you all probably went through this, but let me fume a bit, or correct me if I did something wrong.

So, there I was, so ready to make my first poison pack! I decide to try the action poison since I'm a carbine user, figure it would go nice with my action shot and all that. I checked the components, usual organics, inorganics... oh, fungi... no big deal, and 3 other components that probably use organics/inorganics, no biggie. So I set up to find some fungi in the freaking planet (nothing in the bazaar). Finally I find a spot and survey... Ok, so now I can make the components...

First component... oh it needs reactive gas hmm... Luckily I found some in the bazaar, 1K gone no biggie.

Radioactive thingy for the next hmm... ok another walk around the planet, got some...

Aluminum, **edit** expensive in the bazaar, but ok I want to make the poison thing. Pay 10cr per unit, buy 100, another K gone

Hmm... Petrowhat? another run around the planet, got some..

So, after like 5 hours and many $ gone, I can actually make my first poison pack woohoo!!!

Done! hmm... only 6 applications? must be freaking powerful!!!!

Ok, so I find a light blueish creature to test it, remove my weapon to see how fast it dies. Target it, boom there goes the poison! Yeehaa!

6 seconds later, I see the poison effect hit... not a change in the action pool

12 seconds later, nothing

18 seconds later, the stupid butterfly tries to hit me again, almost full everything

24 seconds later I'm crying

30 seconds later I pull my carbine and kill it. Tried to kill myself too, but game wouldn't allow suicides

So... WHAT DID I DO WRONG? Can't be like this can it? Please tell me I did something stupid and it actually works or something. Should I remove my combat medic skills and go for chef?

did the poison affect the target? sometimes it doesnt work. It will give you a message saying if it worked or not. I just got combat medic last night too, and same as you ran around looking for all those materials..but i only tried it on a creature the whole group was fighting so i dont know how effective it was or wasnt

Sounds like your poison got resisted.

if it was resisted, then it's really misleading because the butterfly's bar showed a crossed skull, and every several seconds, a skull graphic rained on it

poison A is about as effective as a stimpack A. It stinks. Poison C has some merit but the damage is still to low. And be careful using poison, the application of poison starts your heal timer. So you will not be able to heal right after using it.

now i could see if poison A only took as much resources as a stimpack a then it wouldnt be very effective, but **edit** thats alot of work for some worthless crap like that. At least you get med xp for using it

I read they were changing area affect poison and heals, but no mention of the normal poison, seems like it's not even an issue. Besides, I still use stimpacks A once in a while, all the way to Combat Medic they're still useful. This poison A if it isn't bugged, it's absoultely worthless, not even if they gave it at start like melons would I use it, it doesn't do anything! my untrained unarmed did more damage to that butterfly than the poison

an update: Yesterday I was in a group of 5 hunting creatures. Those creatures conned yellow to me, light blue to the group. Just to free the slot the other 5 poison applications were taking, I decided to use them for giggles...

5 resists!!! not one sticked

ah, wish I could edit posts here. So yes, the first one I used to test in the little butterfly did stick, it just did nothing noticeable

I have dropped all my combat medic capability because as you found out it is worthless.

Another thing to look at is if you are planning to do PvP you are just going to a grief causers. The diseases do not do enough to matter during combat, all you are doing are forcing people to spend time with in a medical center after the PvP fight is over. Unless you like causing grief to other players skip it for that purpose, and for PvE it just does not matter.

posion sucks, its no where comparible even to the lowest of bleed attacks, even at the posions highest form.

Dont waste your time, everyone knows that the only use for the combat medic is the semi-usefull range stimpacks that can be used a whole 10 meters more then normal stimpacks.

a whole 10m more than normal stims?

i think not...i was dropping rangedsims at 40m+

basically i was healing for 2 grps one with my normal stims and one with my ranged...

ranged stims are the best...
