Thread: Medical Droids and Combat Medics
As I have said before I plan to go Master CM/Master Carbineer. I plan to get a top of the line probot droid for attacking and defending and a Medical Droid to assist me with healing others during combat.
Can combat medics use medical droids and if so are they worth getting? What kind of bonuses do they provide? Also I believe I can get more than one droid at a time so if I buy a Combat Droid and a Medical Droid I can defend myself and protect myself and others and the med droid could help heal.
Another question: Combat Medics can gain xp while anywhere healing group members anywhere... especially during a battle or in town right? I would imagine so because we shouldn't berestricted to gaining xp from Medcenters and Camps. Also if you heal random people in the world who are in need of healing (they aren't in your group) can you gain xp from doing so or do they have to be in your group.
I just picked up novice medic last night so I am new to the medic scene.

You can get experience from healing anyone's damage anywhere, any time. Healing wounds requires you to be in a camp, a hospital, or have a droid with a medical module nearby. Since there are very few high level droid engineers at the moment, I've been making do with a mouse droid and a level 1 medical module.
If you have the droid, you are no longer limited to healing in the med center or a camp site. You can heal anywhere outside (doesn't work inside buildings)....the bank/bazaar or near the trainers are good spots to gain some experience healing people with serious wounds (who, for whatever reason, would rather run a mission with 500 health and action wounds than go sit in the hospital while there are multiple medics available...to each their own, I guess).
In combat, you'll mostly be healing damage, chucking diseases and/or poisons and the like...all of which you can do anyway. As to the higher-end droids, I never got to lay hands on one in beta, and I still haven't found one yet. They can take multiple add-ons later, so you might be able to get medical 3 and armor 3 in the same droid....

CM profession imo you should use a Probot with a crafting station built in. Perfect for acting as both a meat shield and able to craft the top end stims (well bar the ones that need a personal crafting station, i don't believe that apply's).
Of course make sure it has auto-repair, I highly recommend Gilla on Eclipse!
I have a mousie medical droid , hes cute, sounds cute and helps me keep my group healed up.
I have two qusetions re: droids and medics:
1. What is the difference between a medical mouse droid and a surgical droid? Is it worth the $$ to get a surgical droid for an aspiring combat medic. (I'm almost there !)?
2. Can the surgical droid be outfited to be a cross between a probot (help in fighting)and a surgical droid (help in healing/med)?

I can heal in the wilderness with my surgery droid even outside camps if its already out...since you cant call the droid out in the wilderness...

I have one with me when in town all the time for 2 reasons, you can heal wounds on the streets and in some buildings, and you don't have to go to crafting station to craft better medicine, you can do it in medical center in between heals (medical droid acts like personal crafting station), also certain medicine requires you to have personal crafting station (not public one), for example Stimpack D.
And yes you do get medical exp from healing other people, in fact in a huge-populated areas (like Tuscan Camp near Wayfar) your medcial exp will be much much better than healing in med center.
You can not heal declared (or TEF) players of opposing factions and you can not heal droids.
You can heal pets and people outside your group.
Note that if are covert and you heal declared member of your faction you can not be healed by neutrals and members of opposing factions, if you declared you can only be healed by members of your faction.

a med droid does not automatically allow you to craft...you must have a terminal installed when its built...
Heh I am currently collecting Droids. I have a surgical droid wih med mod 2 and a personal crafting station. great for when you want to craft meds in the field, ir works as a personal crafting station, so you can do all meds in teh field. I also have an R5 droid with med mod 1. He was the first droid I bought, and I am rather fond of him, tho he does not get much use, and he is really slow in the field, and gets stuck on rocks and grains of sand. I also have a fugitive tracker droid, with a med mod 1. Was using him today, he is great to take out in town, and follow you out hunting. he is very weak, but floats high enough off teh ground that he does not get stuck on rocks and grarbage in teh wilderness. and at 1k a pop, he is expendable. My next droid will be a probe droid with armor, self repair and a med mod, saving up for him.
Now to dispell some misconceptions with teh droids. I have not seen any increase in heal amounts when using droids in teh field. The main thing about these droids, it that they allow you to heal wounds anywhere, as long as they are out, and have power. Droids with med crafting stations allow you to craft all meds that require a personal crafting station. They also allow you to experment.
the thpe of droid is more of a style choice. my personal favorite right now is the surgical droid, just cause they look so **edit** scary

I am curious if I need to save up my creds to get one. As a traveller of Naboo, I think one might come in handy out in the field. There seems to be no end of banged up people out there. it would be nice to offer help.
