Thread: Advanced Stim Resources? Best method for collecting?
Hello all, I've been cranking standard stims out of my factory for some time and have decided to start with the advanced components. I went surveying to all of the planets necessary and found a couple major problems. 1) all the fiberplast on Tatt is CRAP 2) All the berries on Datt are CRAP. However, I did find some good quality wheat on Lok.
My question is this: Is the best strategy for collecting these items to stick a ton of harvesters where the resource is good quality, collect as much as you can, then wait for the resources to shift? Or would I be better off just sticking a couple harvesters in each place, reguardless of quality, because advanced stim parts made with bad quality resources are still better then the ones made with standard parts and quality resources (are they??)
one suggestion: resource sample macro, a mouse clicker, and a bed.... in your travel over time, keep on the lookout for decent resources. when you find them, have a sample macro setup. mine reads this:
/sample;/pause 840;/stand;/pause 240;/.......repeated a lot of times.
what this does is it starts sampling, waits for the time it takes me to run out of action, stands up, waits for my action to regen, and then rinses/repeats. i guarantee, if you leave this macro running in your sleep on a relatively high concentration of resource (70%+) you will have at least 1k when you wake up, if not 2 or even 3 depending on your survey level. then just get a mouse clicker and have it click a random area on your screen every 10 seconds so you arent dropped. it works like a CHARM.no paying money for harvesters or anything like that. i'm slowly hoarding a nice resource I just found last night. hell, i even run this thing while at work. the only problem with it is that i dont know how to stop it without logging lol.
I setup harvesters when I see a good spot with high quality. Once I stockpiled enough high quality normal resources I started going after Advanced resources. Get 3 or 4 harvesters at each spot if you can work that out so you can have a good supply of the resources.
Tattooine fiberplast CAN be good, just depends on the gods of resource change. I got some 916OQ last time and ended up with about 10k of it.
And just try that /sample macro on the fields of Lok overnight. /snicker
Ya, that was going to be my next comment.. I need to gather resources in some dangerous places so I don't think the macro is going to be a workable solution. I'd like someone to put this into perspective for me. I normally make a stim D out of decent resources that has a healing power of about 550. If i were to use advanced components with good resources what type of average power can I expect? How about if I use advanced components and crappy resources?
Well, if you are on the Naritus server by chance, we have started a Resource Trade Alliance. I live on Talus collecting the Talusian water in large amounts and we have others on Tattoine collectiong Fiberplast, then we have some go to Lok and Dantooine to collect wheat and berries in large amounts, this saves on travel and having to work so many different harvesters.
We have a channel on Naritus called RTA that we use to communicate, hope to see some of you in there.
really... those advanced controlers and so forth are useless for any medic. With high grade resources and expermentation you can get better and waste less time than searching for those elusive resources.

Not sure I agree with you there. For CM, those advanced controllers help us a lot. We don't have as many experimentation points as say a doctor, so I find getting that extra boost from an advanced component really does help. I use high quality ingredients for the finished product and the best advanced ingredients I can get my hands on to make components.
wow either u are making incredible basic components or really crappy advanced ones
my first BEC was using a crappy lok wheat 200 OQ and 500 PE and ad 200 OQ tat fiberplast and the finished product was a 10 charge 7 power BEC...and this was when i was at novice doctor crafting with less experiment points i have now..
that beats my current basicBEC of 7c/4p or 6/5 by a bunch...right now with 900 OQ lok wheat and 900+ OQ fiberplast, i get 17c/15p advanced BECs...
are they worth it? i think they are...if u are grinding no they arent...if u are looking for super powered packs...then yes they are...
I get wound Cs that heal for over 400 wounds and have 45 charges...with advanced components...
Gahbunga!
Nice wound pack!
What kinda heals are you getting with your stim packs?
Are the advanced ones worth it? Heck yes....
I was recently at the bazaar in Theed and saw stimpack B's with a heal of 381 and 30 uses....out in the field they heal for upwards of 600 to 1000. Finally contacted the guy because I was so impressed and asked what his secret was...all advanced components.
I've been collecting the resources ever since. The only problem with it is, I've been to 7 different planets and have yet to find certain classes of feul, iron and gas that I need.

If you are crafting just for yourself, you really don't need thousands of resources. In many cases, I find it easier to just buy resources from a supplier, or even the bazaar. I am currently swapping resources with a doctor friend and using an AFK sampling macro.
By the way, if you use a poor quality resource for the advanced components, successful experimentation is absolutely essential. The chance of success is lower, so you'll end up with a percentage of advanced components that are no better than the normal components.
