Thread: MBH/MCM +37 points to spare....

Ok so i got a predicament on my hands.

Looking at my end spend, im back from a long break and MCM looks real cool so im gonna go MCM. Someone said if i was gonna get the investigation tree (well no, keep the investigation tree, im an old school BH not a CU one, no offense though...) thati might as well keep MBH in the spend for the mods and for advanced critical. Seems like a sound idea to me, and i always like keeping the MBH so im not considered a dabbler.

So the question is what do i do with the left over 37 points?

I have 3 options

1) I dont know if MCM and MBH is enough, so if i wanted i could just sprinkle the points into fun skills, like survival, hunting, etc..

2) I could master any one tree in an elite ranged prof, i just dont know which one.

2a) Which tree do i take? And do i choose a tree for recon armor mods, a certain skill i should have to hunt jedi? Damage? Or to get state recoveries since MBH only has KD recovery?

3) I could get doctor. Thus allowing me to heal wounds, have way better healing mods (i do care about PvE and PvP) i can register at a medical place, better single heals.....and to make up for no state recoveries, i could just heal them off me.

I just have no clue what to do, because i dont know what my ability to go toe to toe with a Jedi is with only MCM/MBH and no other combat.

And my next question is this. If i go with option 1 or 3, which weapon should i use with only the MBH mods? rifle pistol or carbine?

Thanks for your time

or

lol, I'm having the same problem like you atm.

BH/CM and what? I am thinking about Carb0400 but then again I like the pistols. Problem is, if I take a pistol tree, I only have adv. critical shot as strongest special, if I have carb0400 I can have adv. crti. shoot and leg shot, 2 very strong specials to alternate...

Well I have been in a similar situation and came up with this template:

MBH, MCM, 4000 Rifleman + 3SP (Vehicular Control? for me)

Reasons to pick a bit Rifleman:

Imho the only "decent" weapon there is at the moment is the Advanced Laser Rifle (as only SAC and Max. Dmg counts, Speed is broken as far as I can tell, so DPS is totally ignorable) Did I mention the Range Advantage of Rifles?

Accuracy is important so I want all of that for my Rifle.

High Damage Specials are important, too, and looking at the trees I found all I wanted in 1 tree: 4xxx Rifleman.

Defense in that tree is a bit gimped so you should take food to compensate that, but on the other hand we would be taking that food anyway for J hunting.

Added to all that you even get movementmitigation for recon armor, which is vital if you need to kite something (like a jedi or a krayt).

I have tested this templatea bit post 19: I soloed several Giant Dune Kimos (I want RIS to hunt in) without any problems.

I "only" duelled a not finished jedi twice, once he incapped me, once I incapped him. He even used a CL30 bot on the try I incapped him.

I am pretty rusty on my PvP or PvJ skills, but the template feel pretty potent, maybe not uber, but a very nice base and its the only templateI found to deal with them pesky Master Defender.

In order to debuff the jedi you would have to be right next to them, but with rifles they have to be at least 15-20 yards away to do any good damage. I would go 0004 pistoleer. You get stopping shot plus you get great defense bonuses. Going doc wouldn't be a bad idea either. With the heals now, you won't really need to be great with a weapon, though your mind will probably go down quickly.

All I did was decide what weopon I wanted to use (pistol) and get marksman 0404 and as much pistoleer as u can and even try n get fs ranged speed anb accuracy cause they realy help, u will have a good pistol speed n acc, very good def and master cm abilities and if u manage to get uber sea's, guns and armor u will simply be a terminator !

You really need to decide what type of player you want to be. Master Bounty Hunter by itself is not anything special. In fact its one of the most overrated and misunderstood professions around. Any pistoleer, carbineer, or rifleman can match it easy. Its only when you combine MBH with another ranged profession that it really shines since BH is all about GENERAL ranged mods. But now you throw in CM and you have a mix that can be used either way.

You can go up rifleman which gives you better damage and speed mods for the laser or trandoshan rifles but leave you lacking in crowd control or other support abilities. You also have access to recon armor which is generally better PvP wise due to the fact that kinetic weapons are lower damage than energy and therefore less prevalent on the battlefield as well as the lack of melee templates (jedi have kinetic powers but their LS are energy).

You can go pistoleer which gives you excellent crowd control ability but only pistol speed mods unless you forego stoppingshot which isn't recommended. This is an excellent group support that keeps full template pistoleers, melee, jedi, and creaturesin your range while out of theirs. You get access to battle armor which is a nice balance between kinetic and energy.

You can go carbineer which can give you one or the other. Instead of roots you get snares and instead of headshot you can get legshot but you have to choose which. Once again you get access to battle armor. Snares are more effective now especially against creature npc's which in the past they did not work at all.

Finally you can pick up novice doctor. This gives you the ability to cure wounds which is a nice thing to have but is for pre and post combat situations. You do increase your healing efficiency a nice bit and get the basic nutrient injection (hp boost). That comes in VERY handy as a group support tool especially while doing combat rezzes or emergency buffs when no other doc is available.

There are a number of other considerations involved so these are just few to ponder on. Hopefully this will help with your decision.

With BH you get some really cool carbine weps, so with that same template I opted for 0040 Carbines for all the defensive mods. You also get Improved Charge shot which rarely fails to knock the target down allowing you to apply DoT's. The combination of the carbine def mods and Duelist Stance plus your healing ability make it hard to lose.

Id always recomend having heals. However, sometimes it does get a bit silly whereby ur constantly healing urself instead of dealin out dmg bcos u got a low melee def.

If u dont go for heals and u want extra defence, theres always 4000 comando. A lot of people seem to overlook this mix but its got some uber defneces, +accuracy and +spd (some only for melee i think). Might not be wot u want but it certainly helped me use up my remainin sp.

I went for MCM MBH with 0400 carbs for the 2 good specials (adv. crti. shoot and leg shot). This tree give accuracy bonuses. I thought about 4000 for carbine speed but the specials in that tree are the area ones which i rarely use.

U get some real nice weapons with MBH, I've just bought a real nice heavy lightening rifle which i've sliced for speed and even though i've got no rifle skills i'm dealing out big damage with few if any misses, if mobs get too close i can whip out the proton carb and give em a squirt without the penalty for em being too close that u get with rifles.

I started out as a MCM, did the hologrind when MCM became spider venom insane then turned to bounty hunter after i unlocked in april'04 and have been a rangedMBH ever since so i'm with ya on the old school thing.

When the CU hit test center i was thrilled to find out that i could be a MBH/MCM something i had wanted since i started playing back at launch. I tested the various wepons combo's and decided the 2 that were most effective for me and my style of play were 0400carb and 0004pistol. I liked the pistols alot, had the choice between a couple pistols and was always within range for my MCM attacks. However 0400carb with the proton carbine was just too good for me to pass on so i decided togo withthe MBH MCM 0400carb-Proton Carbineoption.

Based on what you said in your post i wouldsuggest going with 0400carb with the proton carbine. This gives you some real nice dmg with the added benefit of being able to stay outside of a jedi's ranged specials such as saberthrow.

good luck on your decision, whatever direction you go in will be fun and effective...MBH/MCM is a great combo no matterwhat yourweapon classof choice is.
