Thread: Bounty Hunter correspondent wants free Medic skills for all BHs
I'm quoting this section of the Bounty Hunter correspondent's "State of the Profession" postwholesale and highlighting the relevant portion with orange:
The Bounty Hunter IS a solo profession. Many people pursue it for that reason. Solo PvE is our primary purpose, yet without the tools to survive the encounters, the profession will fade away in its currrently broken state. A change of thinking, or philosophy, is needed here.
-
Addition of basic medical skills to Investigations tree
-
Addition of basic humanoid tracking to Investigations tree
-
Addition of gadets based upon EU Bounty Hunters
Since Development Team entirely determines the breadth our abilities, given we have little skill points to pursue enough other professional abilitiesto effectively survivesolo, the above are not unreasonable requests. 33 skill points to spend following mastery of the profession is not enough to gain independence of groups, which is required by our nature.

What is to be gained by posting this issue in the doctor forum?
Insight.
If enacted, this proposalwouldaffectsall Medics and Medic-derived professionsby sniping our skills and making us less useful to the community.
That's my opinion, but I included the entire passage so that you may draw your own and do what you want with the information.
We have already had this discussion with Wepps. He proposed it a while ago, and the discussion went on for about 17 pages, with 85%of Bounty Hunter's wanting the medical skills added to the Investigation Tree, and with the rest of the Medic/Doctor/Combat Medic community arguing otherwise.
I remember really fighting it out with Wepps towards the end of the discussion, and it wasn't great. I just don't think they deserve skills. When they look at what BH requires, they should know that it is a powerful profession, one of the most elite professions out there, and it takes a lot to get to Master it. Now, I believe that they should have known what they were getting into so they should not demand anything.
But, I'll just say I'm against giving them the use of /FirstAid and +5 to medicine use, just so they can spend the other 33 skill points becomming a Ranger so they can have probably the most powerful skills in the game.
Man is this still going on? We debated this weeks ago....
And its an insult to any profession that paid 15 points to get Novice Medic.
BH's are divided on this issue. I personally don't think thatany medical skills should be given to a BH. But perhaps its not unreasonable for us to request some form of low-level med skills in the same way that the pharm line has /medicalforage for low-level resource gathering (admittedly this is practically useless). As far as stealing injured customers, there are about 6 doctors for every patient in the Coronet medical center. And TKA's can heal their own wounds, cure their own poison and disease, and even self-buff their pools similar to what a doctor can do. My point is that not all classes have cut and dry roles, and thisrequest is not an unreasonable one.
Bag that!!!
I know this is a VERY old subject but ...Creature handlers can heal pets in ways NO doc can, combat medics get terrain negotiation (a scout skill), Teras Kasi can heal their own wounds and status states, if Bounty Hunters are to have BASIC medical skill (which makes them EVEN MORE powerful then before, not that they werent the most powerful class to begin with ... ), then i want surveyin skill to be a part of the medic field. They complain about wasting points for basic med skills, well ... so what, we have to sacrifice at least 16 points just to be able to find our own resources, something that EVERY otherprofession that crafts can do without even thinkin about it. i want surveyin skill anway,, but if BH gets med i DEF want survey
My question would be define "basic".
If they want Stimp-A, then well sure. We want survey I and harvest I, they can have Stimp-A.
If they want Enhanced Buff D, then not unless they give us Tactical Nuclear powered Sub-Machine Stimpack blaster or Enhanced Buff Z which enhance all your stat including mind by oh I don't know 100k or so.
