Thread: Can a Master Doc/Master CM solo PvE missions?
Hi all,
I play a Master Doctor that has taken Pistoleer up to just the first "Novice" box, and I am finding that the road to move up Pistoleer is too long and too boring for my taste (I play odd hours and solo Mobs and missions often, and find combat skills are boring to develop). Anyway, I was thinking of picking up CM and becoming a PvE killer via poisons and disease as a change of pace. Can any Master Docs/Mast CM's comment if they can handle missions, or kill tough Mobs on Adventure planets, without an elite weapon (like pistoleer?). I imagine that a MD/MCM can make some very potent chemical attacks, but are they enough to bring Mobs down?
Thanks!

You should be able to, but remember, your missions are based on your combat skills, so you will get easy missions that pay very little.

Sure, get yourself a good Rock beetlepet and you can do about anything. (just don't forget to buff it)
For giggles I sent the pet to attack a lone Kimogila on Lok.... I won. I'll not complain about the power of my character ever again.
Trillium,
Max mission difficulty I can pull on a non-adventure planet is 10. Those are a cakewalk given i have a cowardley gurreck with me to tank.
Adventure planets are much more difficult. I can do mamiens on Yavin and pirates on Lok. Problem isn't in killing either one (I do use poisons on them some). Problem is in killing the lair. Busting down a 30k HAM lair when you only have marksman skills taks a lot of time. Several minutes of just standing there pounding on the thing because you don't get the damage multipliers like you do in other elite professions.
Missions with social mobs are difficult but perfect for AOE bombs since they're gonna come anyway. Problem here is just keeping your gurreck/beetle/krevol alive through the fight. 2-3k ham isn't a lot of wiggle room against a mob.
I think the limit of what i've been able to do for challenge was solo 2mountain squills in Tat. Big damage poisons on both, bleeders, shooting and and healing. Think I also used /warningshot but can't recall.
Hope this helps. I refuse to be a Merchant Doc, and can still get by on credits from tips and other means, but it's difficult.

Solo a mob using nothing BUT poisons?
No
Not unless your just killing durni or something equally as week.
Poisons do damage over time, so if you throw a poison at a mob, and then just stand there waiting for it to tick down, the mob is gonna kick your but pretty quick. You will need at least SOME weapon skills, or run away while the poison is working. But that seems like a lot more work then just getting some pistol skills.
I really reccomend you go up the pistol tree a ways. A very effective PvE tactic that I use is:
1. throw a health poison C - causes health bar to drop over time
2. use /healthshot1 - causes bleed, more damage over time
3. use /healthshot2 - causes more bleed, more damage over time
4. use /bodyshot2 - causes a pretty good chunk of health damage at each hit
Using that combination, I can take down mobs that are quite a bit tougher than me, so long as i dont get ganged up on.
Groupette, really?
Now that's nice. I will have to try that.

Here's a little tip for those that don't know it...
When using a pet to tank very big bad critters (Like Kimogilla) make a macro for the following...
- /yell FollowMe
- /yell Trick1
- /yell Attack
Using whatever your pet's commands are for those actions. All you have to do is make sure you are not "enganged" with the critter (/peace) and that you have th critter targeted. What does this do??? It will instantly heal all mind damage to your pet. You can heal the rest.
- /yell FollowMe
- /yell Trick1
- /yell Attack
Or use /tellpet so you don't annoy everyone in the surrounding area ![]()
But yeah, this macro is key. You target the mob you are attacking, strike this macro, and your pet's mind is inst-healed. Assuming that the mob never agros on you and you don't run out of stims, you can solo anything this way.
To do it fastest, have pistol 4 skill, have the pet attack, bleed the mob, health poison C the mob, area poison C the mob if there's nothing else around that will agro, and then bodyshot, heal you pet, or reapply dots as required.
LOL Agent001, that's a good one, Durni's? LOL
I'm a Master Combat Medic with Pistol 4 in the Marksman tree, if you're on Lowca, give me a tell and you can come watch me solo a Bull Rancor Lair with my poisons and my Cowardly Gurreck.
Wow Groupal,
By using a Rock Beetle, can you hold aggro long enough to kill the Mob with poisons? Seems like a great strategy if you can keep the Mob ticked off and fighting your pet...
Thanks for the feedback all!

Stacking single and ae poisons along with bleeding a mob are important for a soloing CM. Instantly healing your pets mind damage is easy enough to do with
/tellpet come
/tellpet trick1
/tellpet kill
That's the macro I've used for a while now. Pet never loses agro and keeps going. Battle Fatigue from this action is minimal and it eats a little bit of your mind pool. I'm starting to think that CMs are the EQ bards of SWG.
uhuh, WITH a cowardly gurreck. Thats the same as picking up a weapon skill IMO.

**edit** to the rescue!
Anyone with a pet can pretty much kill any mob in this game "solo" even though your not really soloing, since your letting something other than yourself take the brunt of the damage, just like if you had a TKA friend along with you instead of just a pet.....
lol
why did it filter out po ke mon ?
thats hilarious......
Anyways, he is asking about NOT using any other combat skills, not about how your doing it with pistol 4, and a pet........
Show me how you can efficiently take down rancors with nothing but poisons....
It can be done, but it would be time consuming and a lot of running away.....
