Thread: can all CM do this?

just the other day there was an overt imperial on talus roaming around most likely looking for something to do. So a buddy of myne go overt and dispose of him. We enter the cantina to get some BF healed. After just a little bit we see 5 red dots souround the Cantina, then all of a sudden i'm hit with diesease/poison, my mind is rocketing downard, so i quickly hit my muon and start meditating. Anyway after the battle..we come to find out that there were two CM that were sitting 120m away throwing poison/diesease at us inside the building....

Something wrong with this picture...I'm just wondering if this is a bug? or what the deal is.

Ya combat medics are cheap like that. I think all combat medics that use the long range bug to pvp are weak and stupid and should be neutered.

Combat medics ruined my marriage and made my kids retarded, all from 131m! Can they all do that?

they is suppose to bea range cap in place, but it doesn't work atm. I've tried to bring this to more dev's attention, but for now i don't think it'll be fix any time soon.


as for the range, the poison/disease might've been directed at someone outside the building, and the AoE effect reached the inside.

yeah if you were overt and they were still overt or teffed all they have to do is tag a npc or monster at max range of thier poison and if you are within the range of that poison again you will get a dose.


you can experiment or range and if you use the right sub components i think they max out at 70-80 metres.


theres plenty of exploits around, but the combat medic class has allot less than other combat classes


to be fair if you were outside i don't think it would be an exploit but inside yeah that sucks. like allot of ppl say the poison canister thrown at a target is airborne that when experimented on has a largearea affect.

Deal is yes it is a bug, and exploiters will exploit no matter WHAT class they play

the points of interest here are:


Combat Medic


  • Combat medic skill mods can no longer increase the range of medicines beyond 64m.
  • The maximum experimental range for ranged healing and DoT medicines has been capped at 48m.
  • Droids and vehicles are no longer affected by combat medic area of effect poison and disease attacks.

an attempt was made at fixing the range, and another attempt is in the works. let us see what happens after publish 6.



this is a valid issue, however blaming all combat medics for exploiters is like blaming all artisans for the resource dupe bugs that were out...

You should just do a /bug on it. Littering this board with anger/complaints will not get anything solved. Also, I am VERY skeptical on this 120M range you mention. I must be doing something wrong because I have never been able to throw a poison beyond ~45M. If you can, next time this happens take some screenshots.

Well i just made MCM and i always get a note saying i cant throw that far and I have to run closer to unload a poison or disease. I would think these guys are using old poisons made a whiel back or somthing. Now throwing through a building is definatly an exploit but dont blame all CM for it, there are alot that play the game right.


You guys are just Pissed cause you end up dieing to the CM its no more than getting spammed to death by a TK and looking at sky or eye shotted to death. get over it and play recruitmore doctors...

I think the area effect inside a building going through INTERIOR walls is fine. The stuff we throw is a gas, so of course it will spread throughout the interior of the building.

actually i did some tests myself the day pahd came onto TC to test out the new chef foods... i can still make a pack of action poison C with 37 range, and i can throw that pack at 74-75m away. I tried to bring that to JustG's attention, but we'll see how that goes.

well with my range of 40some odd area poisons mixed with a 38m area I will regularly hit things at 78m because I throw at something closer. Now it is possible to get even more range out of the things so I would not doubt it if someone 100m away hit you with an area poison. You would just have been on the ouside edge of their area.



No it is not an exploit and has been addressed as not an exploit for an aoe to land outside a building and effect those inside the building. Devs have said this a couple of times. CMs release gasses that find their ways into the buildings as has already been stated. If you are in a cantina the doors are contantly opening and shutting people moving about... So the gasses could have gotten in easily. Anyway those are my 2 creds.

First, Iknow you cannot go into a private house with a TEF. SO for hiding in a house, not going to happen. If that house is made public, then I am not sure it will let you in or not, I have not tried that.


It seems there is a new nerf cry comin on the horizon. Now it is no longer "range yadda yadda yadda," or "mind damage yadda yadda yadda", now it is "always hit yadda yadda yadda"


Look here are some limitations for you to ponder.


We spend 169 skill points to be our profession, second only to bounty hunter and tied with commando.

We have no skill to collect resources SO

we have to buy our resources from others who can get them for us.

We have to make our own weapons, another combat medic can make them but then we have to buy from them.

Our weapons have charges

Our weapons require twice the number of resources as a similarly constructed weapon in most cases (i.e. FWG5)

Once our weapons are used up they are gone forever

We have very rare resources to make the stronger weapons.

We have no defensive skills

Like carbineer, using our weapon makes it easier for you to kill us

Our weapon has the worse DPS of any attack in the game.

Our weapon does not incapacitate our targets

Our weapons do no damage on initial impact, first damage taken is not until 10 seconds after the attack has taken place.

Our weapon, if resisted will not do any damage.

To increase resistance, we have to weaken our weapon.

The ability to heal the mind pool (this is both a limitation and an advantage since it nearly kills us to do it.)

We have 4 seconds between times that we can do ANYTHING,

Using our weapon makes us stop moving for 2 - 3 seconds.


I am sure the list goes on.


For those limitations we get:


The ability to attack the mind pool

The ability to attack multiple people

The ability to heal ourselves and our friends

The ability to heal ourselves in groups

The ability to heal the mind pool, (yeah an advantage and a limitation go figure)

The ability to negotiate terrian

We have no "to hit" modifiers


You might not agree that the limitations balance the advantages. If this is true then you should try combat medic and see. There is a reason why CMs are a rare breed.


Another thing this poster referred to was mind damage. You know if all the nerf herders on this forum were to complain about the non-healable mind damage pool, we would have more effective healing for that pool. Instead of screaming "NERF THE CMs" how about scream "MAKE MIND HEALABLE". I guess maybe that is too hard to say.
