Thread: Devs, Poison Immunity Proposal.....

First before the flaming starts I would like to mention that I am a veteran MCM. But I become very tired of all the nerf calling and nasty tells. So what I would like to see is a profession that has total immunity at master and the people that truely hate poison can finally be silenced.. I think that Ranger would be the most deserving andresistance skills naturally fit ranger.


Anyway I would suggest something that would break down like this


Master Ranger:

Poison Resistance +80

Disease Resistance +80

Frontiering IV

Poison Resistance +10


Frontiering III

Disease Resistance +10


Frontiering II

Poison Resistance +5


Frontiering I

Disease Resistance +5

Field Bioscience IV

Disease Resistance +10


Field Bioscience III

Poison Resistance +10


Field Bioscience II

Disease Resistance +5


Field Bioscience I

Poison Resistance +5

This would give dabblers that would take up only skill one tree +15 resistance, if they take two trees they would get +30 resistance. But to get +110 resistance you would need to be a master ranger. At master you would have almost total immunity to poison or disease or perhaps it could be made complete and total immunity(something like +150). Players with master ranger would still have room to master rifle, pistol, or carbine. Players who would not benefit from this would be defense stackers, BHs, Commandos, and Smugglers. This is the compromise that players must choose: If they want godly offensive or defensive skills then they will be vulnerable to poisons, If they want to be invulnerable to poison, then they will be vulnerable to BHs, smugglers, and stacked combat templates.

Well Thorez, there's already a profession with near Total immunity, it's called Doctor

I see where you are coming from but don't think it will stop the cries. Why because only a certain amount of people will want to dabble in it and it will only help those people. The people that want the nerfs want instant gratification and until they get it they will cry nerf. I like your idea and wouldn't mind to see it implemened to help balance some, but IMHO don't think it will stop the outcry.

maybe a gas mask (biological warfareprotectant)craftable by tailors or armorsmiths, that has immunities toONLY poisons and diseases would fit the need. Crafters could experiment on the mask to increase the resistances to poisons and diseases. I say this would fit well because, if the mask had resistances to ONLY poison and disease, the user of the mask would have to sacrifice whatever resistances are on their head armor (whether it be a composite helmet or a headwrap).


On a closer level, brainstorming on this topic and replying to this post has made me realize that currently, a tusken helmet would fit this need well. It has all the looks to a gas mask, the devs could just add poison/disease resist mods on to certain uber loot tusken helms and you would have yourself a really hot item being sought after by a lot of players.

I guess that example cleared things up. Unless 100% poison resistance is placed at Novice Marksman and Novice Brawler we'll never hear the end of it. (Of course Architects will still be mad because they can't get 200% poison resistance and will keep calling for nerfs)


Otherwise, the idea wasn't bad. But taking cure poison from the doctor line actually woudl cost less points and be more efficient. Now, the ranger option would probably be nice for Bounty Hunters... and they could need some love. Everyone else would be better of with doctor. But they still won't like it. Because that would interfer with their defense stacking.

BTW Yes it is true, I've tested it myself, poison only ticks once every TEN seconds!

There is a simpler way.


All the devs have to do is up the resistences that players already have to poison and disease. The resistances are there, I have seen people resist poisons before. All it will take to balance combat medic a little more if to raise the resistances. By doing this, it will make potency something that a combat medic would want to expirement up.


Then if you want to do something for doctors, then give the doctors a poison and disease innoculation. Of course then the resistances cannot be bumped up as high.

or make cure poi/dis a medic skill but make Doctors the ones that make the cures,with part of the med sourced by a CMedic then everyones happy

Interesting proposal. I like it. Force people to un-stack their templates some if they want to resist poison/disease.

What the devil does being a Ranger have to do with disease resist? If I'm going to be forced to get Ranger I'll get doc instead and be useful.


All they really need to do is revamp the poison/disease resist food. Bump it up to master chef level and allow it's stats to hit 90% resist for 10min.

This idea would make it so that any profesion that did mind damage would become unweildly in PvP. (Rifleman, Swordsman, Fencer) due to the fact that the mind pool would be undefended to these attacks, or at leaste much moreso than they are now.

So to gain resistances you need to be a ranger? You do realize that to even dabble in Ranger you need to Master Scout? Wouldn't it be more cost effective to Master Medic and then dabble in Doctor to cure it completely? Simple math....

I'm tired of this gas mask crap!! I'm a master CM and master Pistoleer... I friggin put the poison in the hollowed out tips of my AP1 bullets!! So a gas mask won't help you buddy! ....now all I need to do is hit you :-(

Ive never gotten a nasty tell from anyone about my poisons or diseases. Ive only gotten get out my way medic boy as I was Incap and rushed to the ground by the impls on my server. 9 times out of 10.
