Thread: CM or Doctor?

I'm at that stage, master medic and torn which way to go.

I don't like sitting in the med center and I don't like crafting more than I have to which would tend to push me to cm.

But in reading guides and threads here I'm just not sure what you gain with cm.

One whole discipline seems to be poison related and I've read only complaints that they are useless, especially in pve.

Another discipline says something about gaining skills to help your reach your comrades with healing (not the ranged healing discipline) but doesn't tell how. And again I read here and in guides that cm's don't use ranged much since it's always a lower level heal than the non-ranged they have. Just /follow and heal regular?

So what's left? Why not be a doctor and put on some armor and go out with the hunt? At least you get revive.

Really, I want to know.

why not do both?

Im gonna master combat medic and have enuff doc skills to buff and revive and make revive packs.

I say treatment IV and crafting IV are all you really need to in he doctor line if u arent gonna master it...increased wound healing speed is nice but how rushed are u to heal in a med center that ull need that much speed...besides wound pack Cs right now more than heal for enuff to get a black HAMed toon out in 3 mins...

medicine use is nice...the only thing i would miss would be the higher buffs since i'll only probably be able to use buff pack Bs with some useage experimentation...

the cure poison and disease in the speed line is nice...but as we have pointed out...disease and poisons are so gimped right now...why worry...

ON the other hand if you get CM, you can range heal as well as stim heal close up giving you the best of both worlds...and ur range on ranged heals will increase as you level...

I think by far, the mastering the CM line provides more advantage then mastering the doc line...but thats all play style opinions...

u could always master both CM and doc and still get a weapon skill to specialist level...(you will have to rely on harvesters and the bazaar for resources since you will no have artisan and survey 4)

ok i'm gonna try to become a master carbineer. And i've been trying to become a combat medic. BUT a combat medic is suppose to be a medic that can also fight. but if i become a master carbineeri will already be able to fight. so will that defeat the purpess of me becoming a combat medic?

medic wise.... which is better. combat medic or doctor? and can a doctor heal on the field?

the way i see it is if i can fight already (master carbineer) then why would i need some more combat from the combat medic. why not master the medic (doctor) and also get a strong combat (carbineer) in a way wouldnt i be somewhat of a combat medic if i'm a doctor, but also able to fight (carbineer)

CM is the most powerful class in PvP right now hands down....only the BH can compare and if they get a underhand shot in at the start to keep u from running LOS and tossing a mind poison

Doctors can heal damage just as well as CMs, only they have to be within 6m, CMs can throw them over 30m. If its just self healing you want, Doc is for you. Furthermore, Docs can Buff HAMs, cure poisons, and revive. But then you miss out on the whole poison thing. But if carbine is enough for you, I'd stay Doc.

well i'm a team player so i wanna heal others in battle too, but i also wanna know that i can handle myself in a fight (carbineer)

but telling me in PvP i'd be the 2nd strongest is a very nice thing. now i think i'll stick with that.

Greek,

You have lots of options, several you hit on in your post. You can go full healer, or healer/fighter, or even healer/entertainer if that's your thing. Personally, I've found CMs to be better overall healers on the battlefield especially during frenzied combat. Doc works just fine though if your team is playing tight.

The major difference is revive. CMs don't have it - which is just fine with those who don't want to be a dedicated cleric type necessarily. Doc do have it, and might be viewed as the most "complete" full service healer. Bad thing about revive is that people tend to play sloppy when they know a doc's around.

Both Doc's and CMs have one major disadvantage though. They are financial dead-ends.

That being said, I play a CM/Ent and absolutely love it.

I would expect that a master carb would be able to pull some decent destroy missions.

the main reason i asked is because i heard somewhere that doctors give good buffs. sucks about revive. i was hoping CM would be able to do it. never KNEW if they could, but was hoping. no bigging. combat medic will be my thing. about the money your right CM dont make money. nore do carbineers. if i master CM and master Carbineer will i have enough to master droid maker? (hoping to make money in this area. but i hear droids suck now)

If you master carbineer and CM you'll have 4pts left over, so no room for droid engineer. There are character builders out there on the net, play with them to find a template you like.

Don't get rifle tree unless you want to master it. At master, rifleman has a +90 speed bonus, this translates to a rifle firing as fast(1.0 spd, capped) as a pistol. It is the biggest benefit of being a rifleman, the conceal line is pretty much broken, DPS sucks, HS3 doesn't work properly.

I am an aspiring rifleman and trying to figure out if I want to be a combat medic or doctor. I was leaning towards doctor, now towards combat medic, since I don't want to stay in the hospital and heal wounds.

If anyone else has input about the choice between CM and Doctor, feel free to chime in. I have 6 more boxes to go before novice CM/Doctor so i have some time. I am only 3 boxes past novice rifleman.
