You know, thinking about it. I don't think I like what Spider Venom has added to my game.
Now a crap dabbler CM can make a poison that is better than the best poison that I make with months of hoarded resources, 12 experiment points and an intensive attention to detail.
I really liked the fact that my PvP effectiveness was immediately derived from my crafting ability. By being a good crafter, I made myself more effective in combat.
Now, if they are luckier than me in the loot drops or buy the good stuff at auction with hoarded money, they can make a poison that makes mine look shabby.
Now its removed that element of skill :/
I should have just not bothered hoarding Tolium. Not bothered desperately waiting for Class1. I should have just camped the Genosian Cave for a few days instead and saved myself the hassle.
I think Venom should have a counter-balancing effect, like Bile does. Perhaps Venom should reduce range, or reduce charges perhaps. Something that compensates for its often staggeringly higher power.
Even a mediocre venom used in place of a crafted IA raises a poison to a level above what crafters such as myself (who have been doing this a long while) could achieve. I had 1 spare venom last night, so I jokingly crafted a Mind-Disease-A with it. You guessed it - it had double the effect that my C's normally have.
Last night, I even managed to craft an Area-Mind-Disease with Venom & my best Rancor bile, and put all the Xp points into charges/range and got a decent 30m range, 190 charge, 300 power area disease.
That will not run out for a very long time.
If you think people cry nerf now, wait until one charge of that wipes out a Rebel raiding party before they've even begun to fight.
Opinions?

Ahh this must mean a 75% reduction is coming in PvP.

not ever going to happen... can't basea 75% reduction simply on a looted part we need to camp for

Heh heh yeah I know. I was just being sarcastic. I do think that we need to have them scaled back quite a bit. maybe make them only like 25 more powerfull than if we used 1000 resources.

well i've never loot any over 90 power since they nerfed the drops and thats when they even drop..... killed 6 fire spiders and 2 dropped fangs and 4 dropped nothing at all

yeah they have reduced the power and the drop rate. This keeps the stuff in a little better balance. I wonder if it was just a typo and they put in an extra 0 into the range of power.

The problem is that a 90 power vs 45 power Infection Amp only increases your base effectiveness by 25 - 30 base damage.

But the 480 power ones I looted do a lot more. The minute I hit a group with that, they are all going to run to the forum and start screaming "nerf CM!!!!". Let's face it, spider venom is not good for our profession.
I agree with Sarkyn. CM was always a crafting combat profession, I kind of like that. Now the ones with the best poison are the ones who spend most time in the geonosian cave. Bleh.

Completely agree, part of our defense against nerfs was what it takes to collect all the right resources to make a good poison, now any CM and any point can do better then we ever did crafting.

I agree that venom makes poisons almost too powerful, and it gives a crap dabbler an edge up.
However, I have made several venom packs using power 160 venoms, and biles to make them last longer, and (possibly due to the crappy resources on ahazi, and partly due to the Biles) the singles have 20 range, and the areas have 18 range.
This essentially makes them unuseable in solo pvp, and still dangerous to me in group pvp.
The 2 times I have used these, I have gotten popped. Straight laid out. Simply due to the fact that I can get no farther 40m away to use them.
So I would like to change my name to "infested marine".
