Thread: BHs lobbying to get medic skills build into class
The point of the classes is to be interdependent! By letting BH's have med skills without sacrificing points to medic does 2 things to the medic class:
1) Makes us much less important - if BHer's then Commandos' then pistoleers can all heal themselves without sacrifice, why do we need medics in this game? For revive - doens't do you any good when you are on hard planets alone anyway. To cure poison or disease? Same situation as revive. Why would anyone play a medic if every class has medic skills (I know you are specific on BH, but trust me, you would open up the floodgates for every combat class). If you don't come to a medic for major wounds (yes you could do this on your own as a novice medic, but it would take a very, very long time), how can a doc make any money in the med lab, especially if he does not have a factory to sell them.
2) other classes, including our own, will be (and have) asking for more skills so they don't have to surrender. For example, many of my CM brethren here want survey and more terrain negotiation. I would love to have those two items, but don't think I should. I can make master CM have some pistoleer skills and still keep Scout 1/0/0/0 and Artisan 0/0/0/1 - for terrain negotiation and survey. I currently have entertainer which is super helpful in the field, but now I have to drop it. Oh well... it's the choice I made to become a master CM and have some pistoleer skills. I knew what the rules were going in, so it's my choice and I take responsibility for that choice.
Just to emphasize my viewpoint (and I know I may get flamed for this) I do think our class should have to make the decision between having artisan for survey or not having the ability to survey. It adds more diversity to our class: either A) I want to be a crafter and make great meds... and maybe be a supplier to CM's; B) Just go fighting and buy my supplies on the market for resources, components or even finished products.
Overall tho.... I just want my **edit** class fixed!
"Please read the post I made showing the costs to bring someone with me. My 800K isn't going to last very long if I do.
Put your number of 10K in and the cost dops to a total of just over 4 million... and a per heal cost of about 4000 credits."
I did read them. But I guess you're missing the point that you're not the only class that loses money every time you try to level.
"I am a novice medic... so I did too."
Good, I guess you don't need the med skills integrated in bounty hunter as you already have them.
"I actually have less need of medics at the moment than I would with my proposal - at the moment I can heal some (all?) of my own wounds - I propose a stimpack that is less powerful than stim-Bs only so no ability to wound heal. Taking away the "need" for me to be a novice medic actually increses my depenedence on them. I also take more away from medics at the moment - I will heal other people with my stim-Bs - under the proposal I could heal only myself."
So you're saying you would be dependant on doctors but combat medics would be a waste of skill points. Great going. You just made the second highest costing skill point class obsolete. Heh, NO.
"Also, as I have been pointing out, there are no medics handy in the middle of Endor... which forces me to have novice medic which means I can do the above. When I reach master BHer I will keep novice medic so my need on you won't change either."
Hire a medic. I told you my costs in a previous post. Whine about travel expenses if you want, but if that's really the only thing holding you back maybe you should ask for the devs to lower them instead?
The logic doesn't make any sense in the first place. What about "investigation" suggests healing yourself? Ummm nothing. You don't have to take novice medic to become a bh, so why should you have med skills again?? The only way this proposal works is for the proposed skill to be at the bottom of the tree... so yes.. people wanting the ultimate uber template would take investigation 1 to get it. 5 points sounds alot better then 15 doesn't it?
Your marks are tough and the payout is low... doesn't it make more sense to lobby for them to be easier and worth more than it does asking for a skill you have no right to?
I don't believe that asking for these abilities is anything other then "make me really powerful". IF you just wanted to level easier, asking for the task to BE easier would be what you would be angling for.
Isnt this like saying... for CMs making money and keeping money is hard due to all the rare components. We should have slicing so we have an easier time to get money to level.
CMs asking for weapon or defense skills have a basis... WE HAVE to take marksmen skills to be our class! Its not wholely unapproriate we ask for more diverse weapons... in fact every profession is asking for more diverse weapon choices. Some of the other requests I don't agree with, us being able to res for example. But at least they make some kind of sense in general (at least it has to do with what we freaking trained in).
There are MANY more classes that deserve attention then yours, if anything you should be toned down. What about carbineers? Melees? Those guys are in a LOT worse shape then you. If you want to whine about your missions, do us all a favor... whine that the MISSIONS should be changed. Whats the justification I keep reading for why BHs are so damage causing? Oh yeah cause "we are all offense with no defense" healing strikes me as pretty defensive ability.
asking how do you get 25k an hour as a starting medic?
That is more than i do even now as as master medic so i must obviusly
do something wrong.

I am a 3/4/4/4 bounty hunter working on master. I think this its a pretty bad idea and I am sorta embarassed it was even posted. Just to have you know only a few pretty clueless, skill-less, or selfish self centered actually want this. The tards who wanted to support it posted, and the rest of the BH really didnt want to associate with the post, stayed away
Dont let this bias your opinion of bounty hunters. In general the bounty hunters working the investigation tree are NOT the little eyeshot spamming kiddies, but people who are really putting a ton of time into a single proffession that offers no real rewards and actually seems to weaken you, if you master it.
And no, most of us also think its ludicrious to have medical skills in our investigation tree.
One thing of note on that - the original post was for first aid and medical usage +5 - that was a terrible idea. What I said first in this thread was not the idea that the thread in the BH forum were after - which was way to much and way unbalancing.
I don't like the inherent one..."
Lol that is what I get for waking up too early :-) I totaly misread that.
I am fine with a ability that only works in PvMark (not PvE or PvP).
Also you know what? You guys are 100% correct. If you take a look at the BHer board you will see that people are now after getting the exact same abilities as those that Rangers have (areatrack and cammo packs - through slightly different mechanisnms). Despite the intentions of some people - others will use it simply as a skill point grab. So the slippery slope isn't really from medic stuff - it is from getting the same stuff that other classes have.
So despite what I was after I was wrong (there look I said it).
