lol it's funny seeing how cms are unwilling to give up power for the greater good of this poor poor game. I was a CM/doctor second month after release of SWG. I hit 400 a tick (with a negligible application failure rate and 50m range) with the 75 CM effectiveness that we had until they fixed that and even at that early early time i knew CM was an overpowered class. Hell, i was a freaking wookiee back then too and i was easily one of the well known pvper's. People complain about the lack of defenses that CM has. Who needs defenses when you can just break LoS? Even a stupid rock in the middle of no where will break LoS. Play as a wookiee CM/Doctor back when there was no such thing as wookiee armor, i assure you that if you know what you're doing, you can still kill people left and right because the combat medic profession IS OVERPOWERED in it's current state. Im not saying necessarily that CMs should be nerfed but something has to change and there are only two options: A) nerf the CM profession B) raise everything else to the level of CM.

Why do you assume there are only two options? Even I can come up with more than two options and I am not all that bright
- add poison damage reduction modifiers to armor just like all other damage types
- or create a medicine buff that would do the same as the above (probably easier for the dev's)
- turn on the mind healing ability of stims
- change how poisons and diseases effect a target
- Limit or remove the ability of a CM to stack poisons
- Reduce the maximum stats of Venom drops since this is what makes the poisons that cause the waaah posts
more than just directly increasing everyone's damage or giving a CM a botched vasectomy

Try going to their boards. LOL. They stopped freakin out months ago. It's pretty common knowledge that a pure smuggler is dead meat in PvP. I'll always be a part of the smuggler community so I don't fear for junk from them (nor from you).
Just because you call Combat Medic a hybrid profession or a support profession doesn't make it so. We are a combat profession. Smugglers might be hybrid fighters or wannabe fighters but we are not. We are fighters (if we choose to be).
Are you smoking something? All of your xp is medical xp or medical crafting xp. Half of smuggler is earned through "combat xp". Maybe one of your titles is "chemical warfare expert" or something of that nature. Are you calling combat medic a pure combat profession??? If you are not, which i seriously hope for the sake of your argument, you need to admit that you are a combat hybrid profession.
Smuglers have one tree devoted to fighting. They also have a tree devoted to drugs and one to hot wiring armor and weapons. They have one tree that I have no idea what it's for and it only apears to have bonuses in the first box (Languages?). Smuglers don't even get a bonus at Master. Now you should be demanding the devs devote all their attention to Smugglers. They use up 600000 pistol XP and 620 AP and do not get any bonuses beyond a new title.
??? You don't have a clue about anything about smuggler man. Two (2) lines of smuggler are earned through pistol combat xp. It takes a grand total of 1.95 million pistol xp to get to master smugger.. that's not counting the prerequisites of smuggler. Then you'd be looking at 2.041 million pistol xp and 91k unarmed xp (which is a grueling grind even with a vibroknuckler).
Go to the smuggler boards. I am a part of their community. We have been pressing the game developers hard for the better part ofa year now. I think you need to check my post records and maybe even read the smuggler forum every now and again - it is a large part of the smuggler's historical memory calling for reform bro...
Combat Medics have one tree devoted to crafting their tools. They have one tree devoted to using better tools. One tree is devoted to using their tools better and finally one tree devoted to using their tools faster. If a MCM decides his tools are weapons then that make him a fighter. Not a hybrid fighter. Not a wannabe fighter, a real fighter.

Just because Smuglers and Combat Medics have crappy defences does not put them in the same category of profession. Yes they both have crappy defences but apart from that similiarity, they are nothing alike.
Actually I think you are right. Defining the CM role in respect to other combat professions is so difficult that I say they are too different to even compare. Perhaps you know whyI list them as a combathybrid. You only havefour (4) boxes of any type of combat skills,the rest beingaugmented with another skill type (medical). The result of this mix of marksman and medic gives the combat medic profession. In science or biology when two traits are mixed it is called a hybrid. Take combat and hybridize it. Combat hybrid. The hybrid part is "medic". Combat Medic. Combat hybrid. Combat medic.
All a MCM can do is make his tools and use his tool or maybe sell his tools to other CMs. I guess we can run up hills really well also. No Prof Mastery requires more Skill Points.
A smugler can sell drugs, destroy public property for personal gain and hot wire armor and weapons for money. They also have 48 more points to play with to complement their setup.
If you do not believe that a MCM is a fighter, how do you account for all that lovely damage we can do that you are constantly whinning about?
It has been well accounted. The paperwork is being looked atby the devs. They are acting on our accounts.
Under ideal conditions, we can out DPS a dozen other players. Under less the ideal conditions, we are out DPS'd by a Smugler.
Look, MCMs are really easy to kill. They have no more defences then a smugler and get stuck to the ground for 4 seconds no more then about 40m from you. You've got 10 seconds to do something about it before any damage is done to you. Take those 10 seconds and either get cured or go kill the MCM. He is stuck to the ground. Standing still. Vulnerable to whatever you want to throw at him. When he starts moving, he is still pretty vulerable. Maybe not to a Smugler since aparently they can only do about 6 points of damage every second, but to any real fighter, a master combat medic is easy to knock down, dizzy, stun, whatever.
You have low defenses. Where is this paragraph going?
Seams like a coincidence that the fighting class that is the very easiest to kill is also the fighting class you have to kill first.... mmm maybe the devs were thinking when they set that up.
Oh, I see where it is going, lol. My bad. For a second there I thought you were praising the developers for making a combat hybrid class that not only is easy to kill, but will always be targeted first!!!! Sounds like fun!!!
You know what would make a Master Combat Medic even more useless in PVP then a Master Smugler? A doctor. Bring doctors with you to big pvp fights. You need them. You need to bring doctors with you. You know those guys that have Doctor in their title? Bring them with you when you PVP. Maybe I am not clear here but here is a secret. Bring doctors with you when you pvp. Doctors can cure poison quicker then we can toss it. and as a bonus to them, they are not stuck to the ground for 4 seconds when they cure. They can do it on the run. Maybe you should bring these guys that can not only res you if your dead, put out a fire on you, heal your HA with one stim, fix your HA wounds if he's got a droid out... Docs can sure poisons and diseases. So pay attention and go for the CM once you get hit. Let the doc cure his own tics while you (well not you, your a smuggler, aparently you can't kill an entertainer in armor) and your buddies go kill the CM. You may take a tick if the doc has to chase you down but if you have a couple docs that are supporting you, you will be ok (again not you...as you said smuglers don't hurt anybody in PVP unless they strip naked ).

I'm sure you will whine some more but be a bit more original then trying to compare us to drug pushers. We are the force to deal within large scale PVP. You are requried to hunt us down and kill us as soon as possible. We require immediate special attention. The only thing we have in common with slicers is poor defences. That's it. As you so easily bashed their prof all to peices, they have absolutley no reason to even think about PVP. Why would they do more then watch if all they can output is 6dps. Jeez the counter to that would be what? /sit.
I tell you what man... go to the smuggler forum. Post this link there. Cry to them that someoneis saying they only do 6 DPS in PvP. LOL. I dare you. You're gonna get a whole forum who say,"Yup, that Ternque01 guy has it exactly correct." Pshaaww! Smugglers are my brothers and sisters. Their community is more honest, strong, and warm then any other I've been in. (looks around the CM forum) I see alot of hate in here. Drop the hate, drop your defenses, and realize that I'm only on this board for one measly little thing: game balance.
I even further to dare even post what you have said your post here. They will laugh you into oblivion. You aren't aware that smugglers have been in a die-hard battle to get their profession revamped for the better part of a year. You even claim that it only takes 600k of pistol xp to master smuggler. Ahahahahahaha. Take your threats of what the smuggler community would think of my ideas and try to make something of it, warrior.
From your description of their abilities, they belong in PVP as much as a Master Droid Engineer. granted they do have that one tree devoted to fighting that DEs don't get but aparently, from what you say, they are about as scary.
