Thread: You guys have to admit it,mcm is overpowered at the moment.

Let's just go back to pre-CU. I mean, that's what it seems these whiners want. Let's go back to where you could buy a weapon that does massive damage and spam the same attack to kill ANYONE. Of course, you'd have to deal with super-powerful armor again, so you'd probably whine about that too (after all, it takes a LOT longer to kill someone with 90% resistance armor who uses stims than a post-CU healer). Let's get rid of ALL defenses! I mean, it should be a damage game only, right? If you do more damage than me, you should obviously win, tactics be damned.
Let's take out ALL the fun and interesting things in this game because it should ALL be number-based, damage-based, no-tactics-because-it's-too-hard-for-me-to-kill-someone-when-I-have-to-do-more-than-spam-the-same-attack-over-and-over.
If we went back to pre-CU then CM would be able to rule the world again

Is CM overpowered? I seen much discussion of the CM in PvP, but consider all those MCM that are fighting against NPCs. Against MOBs paralyze from a MCM lasts about 2 seconds.. if your lucky. Electro and Hem. do seem to stick everytime.. the only real useful offensive ability of a CM against NPC's. I dont PvP so maybe it's different. Debuffs to mind or action are worthless against most NPCs I fight, poison, "fire toss", and disease are worthless...
Against MOBs CM is not that great.. where is our area attacks like we had before CU??? We are supposed to be rated high in "crowd control"???? the only area affect we have is healing!
I enjoy playing the role of a combat medic.. healing and rezing a group, but offensive against anything other than another player is not that powerful.
Hey did u hear they took the most powerful ability of doctor and combat medics and made it available to everyone! That's right ,why be a doc or a CM, just pick up a cyborg arm or a ring and anyone can rez!!! Since i'm already a MCM can I get an arm to give me master smuggler slicing ability in an arm? Seems unfair to passout our elite skills ....
From a Jedi: Well spoken. I just wanted to make it clear that I believe PVP & PVE are 2 seperate things. Right now you're overpowered in PVP for 2 reasons:
1) Most resist lines are broken so all of your attacks tend to stick, ticking off many players.
So because other things are broken, CM are overpowered??? You're having a giraffe aintcha?? Here's an idea - instead of nerfs to CM, why not demand the broken resist lines are fixed??? A radical idea I know... So much for the "wisdom" of Jedi's...
2) Yourselves and Doc's are overpowered when it comes to healing.
Proposal you won't like: Remove the ability of CM's & Doc's to heal themselves with Bacta (they could still heal others) and give them a) reductions in their Stim Timers by 50% at Master & b) remove the healing agros. This would balance them in PVP while still keeping them a vital roll in groups.
And your proposal then means I can't do my job in a group. If I can't keep myself alive, I would have trouble keeping my group alive (especially with the reckless peeps I have in my guild).
I'll tell you what, I'll agree to have the ability to heal myself removed if Jedi Healers suffer the same restriction too... So how about them apples?
The simple fact is this; most jedi are idiots. They're too busy being obsessed with their glowy stick and "uber" status to learn their class and how to play it. It's really that simple. I know some Jedi who are damn near invincible cos they use tactics, LOS (not exploits) and their skills to defeat other players.
Bah - I give up; Jedi never listen and never will until they get their "instant I win button"....

I know you guys wont agree but come on, when you can put so many states, debuffs, and dots on people that you literally do not need any specials with your main weapon but /attack your a little to overpowering. The smart mcm right now can pwn knights in 10 minutes, just a waiting game. The debuffs are a bit to long and a tad bit to powerful, i guess its like asking for a nerf, but do you guys honestly think that you guys should be able to destroy anyone in 1v1 pvp without them hardly having a chance?
Leo
*sniff sniff*... I smell a jedi that doesnt know how to fight.
Pre-CU, you didn't even have to be a smart cmto win in 10 secs.

Ok, I don't normally reply to threads like this, but as I am a new CM, I feel the need in some sense to defend my newly found, and greatly enjoyed profession. I think that any class can be enjoyable and seem overly powered, that is if it is played CORRECTLY. People tend to be looking for an "easy out" for either PvP or PvE, an "Uber" class to help them pwn everything in their path. As far as I'm aware, there is no best class, just better players who have mastered the plusses and minuses that their professions have to offer. I've spent time in-game as BH, Commando, Smuggler, Carbineer, TKM and Doc...not because I was trying to find an indestructible class, but because I was l looking for a class or classes that fit my play style. I can tell you that I'm a much better player as a MCarbineer/MCM than I could ever hope to be as anycombination of melee combination profs. I'm just not a good melee player. And that's cool with me as I get my enjoyment out of my template, just as I'm sure everyone gets their own enjoyment out of their own respective templates. And wasn't that how the game was designed to be played in the first place? Otherwise we'd have tons of the same profession running around...How many Jedi are there in the game now?
I've been pwn'd in PvP and I've pwn'd my fair share, but to say that I'm an Uber PvP'r simply bacuse I'm a CM is silly. Actually every PvP duel where I've lost has taught me much more about how to effectively play my class than any PvE encouter could, and who really cares about PvP ratings anyway? Just like sparring in any real-life combat profession (boxing, martial arts, etc) it takes time and dedication, and an open mind to learn the subtleties of your chosen profs. And, if you get pwn'd in PvP, take some time and ask the person you were fighting, how they managed to beat you. Trust me, after a few of those encounters, you'll learn the weaknesses and the strengths you have, and how to exploit you strengths and cover your weaknesses, against different opponents as well, since fighting a melee player is much different than fighting a ranged player, and so is fighting a Jedi. And this will greatly help you in PvE encounters as well.
Just my two cents on the issue, and I apologize up-front if I offended anyone, but there really are enough professions out there to choose from and find the one or two that suit you the best.

why hasn't this stupid thread been buried yet?
This thread is giant collection of idiocy....
BURY IT!
Just my two cents.
There was a time when CM was overpowered - back before all the changes in late 2003 and early 2004. It was overpowered when the game started dropping that legendary venom. I still remember 20 group decimation when pvp'ing from that 1000+ mind tick, 1second tosses and hits through walls. Ouch, but those days are all now memories though. Are CM's overpowered now? Absolutely not. This is coming from a Jedi, BTW.
Here is what is currently out of balance. Medic 0020 with 1000 pts heals from using HE clothing. It cheapens those who take up CM and DOC for sole pt of getting those great healing abilities. I understand the meaning of the diminshing return formulas, but seriously, this is out of whack. Even with a medic with +25 HE clothes still should not get anywhere near 50% of CM 4xxx or Doc 4xxx without clothes. They have invevsted far more into the healing profession and therefore have earned those heals.

Dr. ElJefe MD (Retired)
Profession: Combat Medic, Doctor's and Medics
- The Advanced version of Bacta Shot, Bacta Toss, Bacta Spray, and Bacta Jab will now heal more damage than the Improved or standard version of the same ability by a medic with the same Healing Efficiency
- Players will always use the best version of the bacta heal available to that player
Has anyone played Guild Wars? Their is a class their called Mesmer that is hard as crap to learn, but once you learn it you can control the flow of battle.
Combat Medics, Pistoleers, Smugglers, and Pikemenare like the Mesmers of GCW, they can control the flow of battle by debuffing their opponents. In SWG any of these profession can control their opponents and win battles... but it takes a lot of practice and mastering of one's template.
Combat Medics rely on quick reflexes and have to think and adapt quickly as we have limited defenses and lots of options. Don't call CM overpowered because if you truly master it, its a profession that takes control of the battle.... Your profession is just as able to win in pvp too, if you mastered (and I'm not talking about mastering a few trees and a stupidbox) it.
Also, why does everyone seem to only talk about MBH MCMs beating Jedi.... you can't call a profession overpowered if its able to do one thing well, MCMs cant tank.... MCMs can dish out quick damage... PvP is more than one vs one... plus arent MBHs 1v1 specialist?!? So stop complaining, learn your own template.
