Thread: Diseasing Corpses right or wrong?
Disease is WORTHLESS without the ability to disease corpses. If you hadn't noticed, about 95% of the time, the person you just diseased gets a friendly DB from his buddy before the disease even ticks. So I say EXPLOIT THE EXPLOITERS. If they are going to nullify the value of my skills, then i'm going to do everything in my power alter that state of events.
I made a disease pack, and used the whole thing one night. Of all the apps, no more than 2 ticks occurred from ALL applications combined. So, what is the point of using them???
Can anyone name a realistic situation where disease is useful against a Player, aside from corpsing him and keeping him out for a while?
Again, the exploit isn't in applying the disease to a incap or a corpse. It's an exploit because they don't clear properly on clone. You are not out of the fight until you clone. As long as you lie there in hopes of a rez, I should be able to apply DOTs to you.
Please explain to me why it's a bad thing if the DOT is cleared on cloning?
Man this thread keeps getting better and better.
Ok Let me make a point here. Star Wars is based during a time of war. In a war, there are no rules. Sure you dont have to raid the medical center and kill every TEF there, but people do. There is nothing sacred in this game that leaves you from getting attacked other than being covert. If a person of the other side comes to attack me. Why should i hold back? I will do anything and everything to defeat him and who ever else comes with him.
People are offering some good suggestions on how to make diseasesbe more effective.
1) Allowing them to stay on a person after getting cloned (great idea. because it will make doctors useful for something other than buffs) If you get diseased. You can no longer have your friend kill you to get rid of the disease. Which when that happens. Your basically tossing out 1/2 of a combat medic's arsenal when that is allowed to happen
2) Increasing the timer on the wounds that a disease inflicts. A Great idea in itself. But how long should a disease last? I have had my poison last a little over an hour and a half in game. My friend played a guinea pig for me to test this. Diseases last a max of 10 minutes. They do over 6k worth of damage in the end. So basically diseases are made to wear down some pretty strong things in the game. But it is never given time to work. If we increase the speed that disease will work. It will actually put some use into making them.
3) Increasing the wound damage through disease and decrease the time it takes to add up. Basically the reverse of 2, but in a sense it is the same thing. All it comes down to is Time it is working or Quick wounds
Diseases are only used in PVP. So what would be a good way in improving them? We will never use them in PVE because the mob will instantly attack us and it will never be given the time to works.
Everyone has a different view on diseasing a corpse, but what is the use of a weapon if it cant be used. Remember there are only 2 weapons a combat medic has. 1 is poisons and people cry nerf cause they die. The other is disease. You dont die when you have disease on you. Your allowed to walk around. You can choose to go to the medical center or die in one hit.
So where is the middle ground?
The only time i ever have deseased a corpse was when the guy kept coming back and harrassing all of my buddies and me, btu then i felt bad, healed his desease, but he still kept attacking, so i dk, i hate to do it, but if i need toi will
Disease is far too slow to be of any use. I used it once in pvp vs a very weak player just to test it out. I had to basically sit there for what seemed like ages wasting stim packs waiting for the disease to do in apreciable damage. I got bored after about a minute of this and his wounds were still pretty small even after a minute, so I poisoned and DB.
I consider disease a deterent more than anything. If we are defending AncorHead for instance and I want to give the noobs a little breathing room, sure I'll disease the annyoing Imp's corpses, just to get them out of the fight for a few minutes. Again, it's how you use it. If you'r diseasing every corpse you manage to find, then that's just boring. Rather use it on the annoying Pvp'ers to put them back in there place.
If you want to see diseases cleared after cloning, then I would suggest making our diseases as fast and as damaging as TorsoShot or Commandos Flame damage. Then it might be useful in pvp.
"I went to bed with a model. I'm not bragging or anything but it took me all day to glue it together."
Casper I sort of agree with you on this. Just want to point out a few things. There ARE rules to war. We don't go around and torture prisoners for information or go to a village and start shooting women and children until people talk. Most countries have a way of conducting war in a civilized manner,
And i know this is takin place in the GCW and i know we got rebs and Imps who will kill medics and healers so its not very honorable.
Personally i think diseasing a corpse is wrong but I do understand as of now thats just about the only use of them. I think the diseases would be more useful if they made 1 major change. When you die with a disease on it makes you clone with massive wounds.
That will stop people from having their friends DB them to save em and make it worth diseasing people in PvP. It will force doctors to run around and heal their diseased friends before they are killed and taken out of the fight. Maybe even increase speed tick and how fast the wounds appear while lowering the amount of wounds made. This way diseased person will start to take wounds fast and they'll add up.

one thing id like to point out...is if you didnt store your clone at the clone center then what the hell are they using to clone you with?? hmm?? if you didnt store your clone data at ehe center before the fight then what they are doing is sampling you CORPSE to get it..which means they got the disease too. Now if you had a stored clone data there...then i agree with brian you should come out with some massive wounds...anything to make diseases viable.
i personally dont even bother with diseases for pretty much the reasons ppl have stated (too long between ticks, too easily negated)...and i agree something need to be done to make them viable without resorting to an exploit. ANd the 30sec timer on the disease is worthless...and it makes it completely useless in pve where most fights are done in 30secs (if you have a good group and not hunting things like krayts).
maybe make that a DB in a DUEL wont end the disease..cause then you couldnt turn to your bud and have him db in one after getting diseased...and your team would know to leave him incapp'd if your group was using tactics.
Wounds right now are the only stoppers to Clone wars...and as CM's our disease should be the most effective...heh...it would be more useful to slice the clone terms to give themwounds when they clone than our packs are atm...but that would encroach on smugglers.
Diseasing copses is an exploit and is being removed with the next patch
Diseasing/posioning incaped players however is perfectly legit.
The only problem here is the fact that it carries over after the cloning center. Fix that and the problem is solved. I don't use Diseases but after the patch I will be i think. Incap them then disease, then DB that way IF they are revived by a dr. they will feel the affects of it.
Then after this comming patch they will have a choice... have a dr. try and rez them then heal them and keep fighting and possibly take massive wounds or go ahead and clone making them go overt again to get back into the fight. Which would you choose?
Interesting that most of the people are people that are not CM's. Now today I was called a noob player because I corpse diseased someone. Explain to me this. What fun is it to run into a town and keep cloning and TEF'ing everyone? I personally think the TEF system is stupid and should be taken out and according to the Test Center it is being taken out. Also I will corpse disease anyone that keeps coming back because for one it will take them out of the fight for good. 2 I can end a fight that would otherwise last for hours on end. I usually do not do this but when you see someone keep cloning over and over again to keep TEF'ing that is just plain stupid. It is wrong to do it. It may be an exploit. But either way it ends an otherwise endless fight. Also any doctor that is worth his salt can heal any disease in one shot. If you want to do good in a PvP fight be friendly to your docs and maybe they will help out. I myself dread meeting a good group that is equipped with a doc. Because a doc can one shot heal pretty much any poison/disease I throw. Stop trying to be uber classes in a situation where because you can do 10k damage isnt the only reason why you are good. Give us things that actually work.
On the constructive note. I agree with brian that if diseased and you die. At least more damage should be done to your clone. It is unfair that if we disease you all you have to do it have you buddy DB you and you can come running back happy as can be.
I dont do this, but I do see hwo some people use it.
Because of the Revenge TEF(cloning wars), some CM's use disease on corpses to keep them out of the battle after their initial death, they have to go get cloned, then heal the disease then the wounds, and after that, their TEF to the CM or any overts in the battle are gone, hence they have to go overt to fight again.
I'm not saying 2 wrongs make a right, but you have to admit, it does work logically.
