Uhm Zarlor, were you awarre thats not the case? this is whats in testcenter for CMs atm:

Combat Medic

  • Reworked the way area healing and area damage over time medicines function. They should be much more reliable now and they shouldn't use a charge for each target affected.
  • Fixed a problem with area stimpacks requiring Medicine Use. They should require Combat Medicine Use. This fix only affects newly crafted stimpacks, so old ones will still require Medicine Use.
  • Fixed a problem where the Combat Medic's effectiveness skill mod was not properly increasing the power of medicines that do damage over time..

  • The only thing that soundsremotely like what youre saying is this (from medic profession in test center)

"Added healing kill credit for medics that perform healing on same group combatants"

looks like a healing expaward not combat expaward. Besides, why would the developers award Medics/CMs/Docs combat exp when they have nothing to spend the exp on? It would be like awarding Bounty hunters crafting exp for killing their marks.

It's logical to award FP based on combat exp (since it's common, shared and already calculated). Of course it's my theory.

Still seems like if they didn't want you to actually get the combat XP, they wouldn't award it.

And the reason Doctors and CMs are getting it is... ?

That no experience types are restricted by profession, only by whether you can perform the action that grants that xp type.

I am merely pointing out that part of COMBAT in CM comes from having high weapon spec, which some people say is not required - and I am showing that in fact it is required and provided by game mechanics.

I share Elenora's skepticism about implied requirements. And as I've been saying, it's now possible to make CM without earning any weapon xp.

Anyway, we aren't going to answer any of these questions without developer input, so hopefully they will start answering correspondent reports soon

Here is one last try, and if you can't see it then we will just have to agree to disagree.

    > lol we have to get artisan... implied...
    > we have to get doc crafting... implied..

NONE of the experience that you get in any of the artisian branch gives you experience required to become combat medic.

NONE of the experience that you get in doc crafting gives you experience required to become combat medic (you already qualified at that point)

ANY of the experience that you get in marksman branch gives you experience required to become combat medic.

I really ought to make a new thread about it, but oh well:

The way I see it, there are 2 types of Combat Medics.

COMBAT medics - want to do excellent damage and heal damage. They usually go into weapon line as their second profession. They are overall ok with the class and just want most pressing issues fixed.

combat MEDICS - want to be ultimate healer and do a little damage. They usually go into doctor line as their second profession. They complain that they don't do enough damage, they complain that CM is no better then doctor (and it's a valid complaint cause it's really is not in their way of specing)

Now both of those different lines are valid, but I think the issues that are important for BOTH lines should be resoved first (official top 5) and then if devs will decide to buff one or the other line - so be it.

At this point every person who complains about not being able to do damage or that CM is no better than doctor - please reffer to this post and think: are you combat MEDIC or COMBAT medic ?

we craft and yet we have no way to get resources...its obvious the devs realized that otherwsie they wouldnt have eventried to make /medicalforage work

as only combat medics, we can not make the components to even the poison packs as well as we a doctor could. Granted there might be an argument for stim components staying in the doc line. But no reason for the dot components to stay in teh line. hence the devs are telling u want to make the best packs...see ya in the doctor line

only xp we require from marksman is combat xp. anything else is not required...and now once the devs put combat xp for healing, we wont even need a weapon to get CM. Hence its obvious that the devs didnt design the class so we had to get a weapon in order to function.

As for your two types of combat medics...

neither of your types even requires combat medic...

your first type COMBAT medic - lol just get master medic and a gun. Fact is u cant attack and heal at the same time. So its either heal or shoot. You cant do both at the same time. any bounty hunter with novice medic skills can be a COMBAT medic...but the fact is ur arent because theres a difference between being a warrior with healing and being a combat medic. All ranged stims will make u run around a little less...master medic with stim D and E could do the same. Just remember u have to choose damage or healing...

2nd type Combat MEDIC - lol just be a doctor then...why bother with combat medic at all, ranged heals are nice but on the other hand, most people die to mind incap in PvE and at the current pace of combat, only having 5000+ ham bars will save u...hence just be a doctor...

fact is we are COMBAT MEDICS we do both at the same time. hence dots.

Honestly i would totally agree with ur versions of combat medic if u dropped the ranged support mastery. Since its obvious that we are just healers and need to get a weapon to be effective...Drop my ranged support requirement and i would agree with u 100%.

so the fact is im not a Combat MEDIC or a COMBAT medic. Im a Combat medic...

Commandos dont have to choose if they are heavy weapon commandos, flamethrower commandos, or thrown weapon commandos...

Smugglers dont have to choose if they will be pistol smugglers or spice smugglers

BHs dont have to choose if they want to use pistol carbine or rifle...

so now why do we have to choose?

u know if we were an elite profession i wouldnt argue with u...but we arent we are harder to get then an advanced profession...so its not all about healing...

    > Fact is u cant attack and heal at the same time.

    Since when?!?
I wrote detailed guide how to heal in combat (with special moves) a while ago, it's quite possible.
That's beside the fact that I can just assist and do 300-400 a pop with regular shot while still healing DAMAGE better as doc (no need to chase)

    > any bounty hunter with novice medic skills can be a COMBAT medic...

No because he has to CHASE person to heal - so he can't shoot and he does not have additional tools (poisons).
You do realise there is HUGE penalty on shooting when running ?

    > All ranged stims will make u run around a little less...

No, they make you stand still and deliver damage, something docs (and master medics) can not do.

    > master medic with stim D and E could do the same.

From "combat MEDIC" position - yes. Cause you are not shooting at targets - not delivering damage (aside from poisons that should be fixed).

    -------------
2nd type Combat MEDIC - lol just be a doctor then...why bother with combat medic at all, ranged heals are nice but on the other hand, most people die to mind incap in PvE and at the current pace of combat, only having 5000+ ham bars will save u...hence just be a doctor...
    -------------

I completly agree, so why are YOU not a doctor? You are obvioulsy "combat MEDIC" - not shooting in battles (cause you say it's impossible), poisons are not that great at the moment, ranged heals not doing anything for you since you have time to chase people - why bother with CM ?

auto attack and special takes a combat action. Healing takes a combat action..

healing is actually in your combat queue you just can not see it...

so while u cant attack in between heals...you cannot technically heal while attacking...

if we were meant to heal and attack with a weapon, CM would be the only medic class that could get away with special moves and heals at the same time. As it is now, u either spend a combat action to heal or attack.

If you dont believe me, load your combat queue with special moves and see if u can heal.

fact is you cannot heal and attack at the same time. U can attack while healing in the sense that if u have a pistol with a speed faster than the delay between heals u can. but that only works for pistols and carbine and rifles have more delay between attacks preventing this. So while i can see your argument for shooting inbetween heals while shooting a pistol. but doesnt float with other weapons. If this was the case why doesnt CM have pistol requirements rather than weapon neutral ranged support.

As for healing in combat, I practically wrote the book on that...go back to the earliest posts on you will see a number of posts here and on the medic boards on how to auto attack while healing.

Basically if u are talking about autoattack, my understanding is that autoattack damage is completely based on the weapon. In which case, a pistoleer with a fwg5 and a CM with the same FWG5 would do the eactly same amount of damage. There in nothing in the tree that increases damage based on normal non special attacks. All the pistoleer would be is more accurate and faster.

Weapon accuracy while runnning a skill in theall 3 weaponline...last time i check this isnt a problem in ur world were everyone is already taking advanced weapon professions in order to do more damage. So what if you chase and have to run ur gonna be more accurate while doing according to your logic.

Last time i checked i could stim on the run but had to stop to throw a ranged stim so in the end is it a wash between CM and docs on the running thing?

and the finally point is exactly that...why bother with CM...havent you noticed that people are quitting the profession in droves?! Or even worse just avoiding the class in general. In MMORPGS, you usually find that the class that people quit the most are often the weakest or broken classes.

So i must totally disagree with the idea that combat medics are supposed to use their weapons....if so we would be granted the ability to special and heal at the same time...

the penalty for shooting while running seems to currently not work Michael, at least from my experience, but i still have the habbit from beta to stop everytime i see the old special fading in the queue telling me the next one is about to go off, so i could be wrong there

Elly: the crafting of subcomponents does not imply that we have to go Doc, it implies that we are missing the propper skill improvements. Holo already said yes togiving CM the Medcrafting assembly and experimentation skillsin beta, so i realy hope he sticks his head in here sometime soon and explains why it's not on the list anymore and why the list we posted at the end of Beta that about every Medic in beta that read the board signed, got mystericaly lost around the end of June.

I wasnt in beta so idont know what was promised...

but given the current system i would say we have a lot of implied requirements for our class...

Having been in Beta, let me just say this. Make no assumption, make no great leaps of logic, provide no calculations for why you think the Devs did what they did in making class requirements, skills, capabilities, etc. Sometimes things get thrown in as a possible fix for something, but it doesn't work out or is replaced by something they though might be better, but the old stuff is still in there. (/medicalforage anyone?)

Some of the decisions to do certain things with professions and their skills really were snap decisions, IMHO, to fill some percieved need or fill in some exploit or hole.

I think the best we can do at this point is point out what flaws we can, offer what solutions we can, and otherwise hope that the Devs will come back to us with their decisions so we can all be more focused in our discussions of the changes and hopefully provide some constructive feedback.

I think some people areseeing Combat Medic in different lights, because it is very easy to do. The two schools of thought I've run into most often are a. A Combat Medic is a Medic that uses a weapon, participates in combat, and heals his squadmatesor b. A Combat Medic is a Medic better suited to healing in combat situations then other healing professions. While I'm not saying these are the only ones, I'm saying that, from my experiance, these are the two most popular. Looking at the skill tree for Combat Medic, it looks like the Devs went for option B, leaving option A open to those who wanted to take a weapon profession.
