Thread: Might not do any good, but here's a petition to get CM poison changed...
If you were a master TK it woulod take about 10 secs to clear poison
I'm a master tk and if there's noone to cure my poison, and i don't have muon gold, i'm guaranteed to die. Meditation clearing poison in 10 seconds? You have to be joking. Power boosted up to 1500 mind, I'm dead in like 6 ticks or something, and meditating the whole time, the poison won't have subsided. I've personally tested this with a master combat medic. 10 seconds, bah. I wish
And to you people who make the comparisons to riflemen? I used to be one myself, want to know why I dropped? Because I did more damage to MYSELF than I did to my target. That and the prone bug, but that's another story
Even if it costs you 500 mind to use one charge of the highest area poison, you can feasibly do 5000 mind damage in a really short period of time. And someone said that riflemen have 150 dps... why don't you call up a rifleman and ask him how 'uber' he is. Prepare to be laughed at though
Someone here also mentioned that it was easy to level in combat medic, that they could get to master combat medic in a matter of days. Well, that's because you can sit in the cantina and heal dancers. That's baloney. You are *combat* medic, you should gain experience through *combat*.One can get combat experience by healing people in combat, so there's no reason at least some of your leveling should not be combat xp related.
But I'm with Stringere. Carbineers, Riflemen, Fencers, Pikemen, Bounty Hunters, everyone got damage reduced. The only damage that hasn't been reduced is damage over time. Bleeds, poisons, fire, those are all still at 100%. That's a crock. If you are going to reduce damage, it has to be done accross the board. I personally am not in favor of nerfing, I'd rather see other classes be made stronger. But if a reduction is made, it needs to be made accross the board. Healthshot, actionshot, mindshot, all poisons, bh fire, and especially commando fire, ought to be subject to the same reduction that all other specials and normal attacks are.
Regarding a counter balance to area poison, I think it's only fair that there should be an area antidote as well.
And if you want to talk about hard to get resources, try getting Lokian Domesticated Meat for a ranger's Lok camo kit. At least your resources spawn! ![]()
That's a great quote! Do you mind if I use it in my Sig?
"Why is it called skill when a Combat class kills a Combat Medic in PVP but an Exploit when the CM turns around and kills them back?"
I run around and take mind shots where im down in 2-3 hits, take flamethrower shots where if i get hit once im dead and burnt, and sometimes I'll evenget dizzy and KD'd and NEVER get up in time to defend myself. What do i do?!?! I sack up, go overt and return to battle and lay poison till my fingers bleed. If I'm lucky my poisons will land andhopefully I'll get a few kills. If you cant take the heat then hang out in the cantina with the dancers, but dont come over here and complain.

Master Combat Medic

I keep seeing these kinds of threads and it's ALWAYS a shock that it gets started by fellow Combat Medics. I never see people on Commando or Bounty Hunter threads asking to be nerfed!
We are one of the HEAVIER CLASSES out there! Look at how many skill points you put into becoming a Combat Medic! You can't even make decent poisons till you become a Master Combat Medic.
Novice Commandos get the cert to use Flamethrower and Rocket Launcher.. NOVICE!
Novice Bounty hunters can use Scatter Pistols and Lightning cannons... again at a NOVICE level! Let alone that fact that Bounty Hunters can combine Scatter Pistol with Pistoleer skills. Has anyone ever experienced a Stopping Shot from a Scatter pistol? Did you know you only need Bounty Pistol II to get Eye Shot? Bounty Pistol IV gives torso shot. We have all seen Torso shot, thats the one that even with a 75% reduction still does 200+ damage and sets you on fire!
Commando with FULL Flame Specialization still has 124 skill points left over.
Bounty Hunter with Eye Shot has 81 skill points left over.
In order for a CM to achieve Master level and use the big poison C packs we have to use the SAME amount of skill points as a Bounty Hunter to get Eye Shot.
Even with all the above listed IEXPECT tobe owned by these people. Why? this is their specialty.
Why should we be nerfed?! There are certain checks that we CMs have to abide. Must have line of sight, be within a 35-45m range of our target, stop and watch that animation of you throwing the poison. With all this is makes us VERY vulnerable. Let's also include that we cant just keep pumping out poisons. There is a 5-6 seconds wait between each poison we throw. We also use a piece of the mind pool to execute a poison throw.
Are there any professions that can put out fire? Doctors can cure poisons and disease.
Yes, we are healers. Yes, we are vital in the support of a large PVP group. This is only 1/2 of our profession! The other 1/2 is Chemical Warfare!
We do not need to be nerfed people. If anything there are parts of our profession that still don't work. AOE disease anyone?
the only significant information i could derive from these novellas is the following:
- every comment seems to be sided from this '1 v 1' theory... sorry, you got the wrong game here
- CM is not a forefront combat class, it is a support class
- regardless of how bad anyone thinks the poisons or disease are too much in pvp, context is important to consider. DoT may be superior if you HAD TEN MINUTES TO KILL EVERY PERSON YOU SAW, but the time and scale of PvP battle makes it a slow killer, but a definate killer. This is by DESIGN as a profession, that our skills are unique different and require unique counters. Our delivery and execution differs from every other combat capable class. YOU CANNOT COMPARE THEM ON JUST NUMBERS, please don't get me started on 'stats'.. bleh i'll argue any stat til i'm correct (and so can you).
- Tell me, do you go charging up to that commando like you do that evil durni? Then take every consideration when you see a combat medic on the other side of the fence. You must change tactically. It's like everyone has one tactic and when it fails, it someone derives 'nerf them' posts. You are bordering behavior of corporations in the early internet days that tried to pass a law that 'prohibits small businesses to look like businesses on the web'... you fools... get your heads out of your proverial anus.
- Co-dependency.... that is what is being fixed. Docs with better cures, and SWG BY DESIGN forces variance upon us all so all the stat whures can't figure out the game with a calculator. This means, one month you'll see execeptionally strong meds, and the next, utter crap (Corbantis has had TWO consecutive tat fiber crops with oq/pe under 200). You can't predict the strength or weakness of your next encounter with a master CM, nor his complement.
- And, i have only one comment that a friend of mine said his coworkers over at sony said when he showed the posts about all the complaints people made ... 'it means you're winning'
I believe Doctor/CM is the underdog champ of all professions... we do it all. Don't ever let some meathead gun freak ever compare his work with ours... NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Look I didn't blame you or FATAL for this instant incap deal. You chose to come out andreveal yourselves. So don't make this into some faction bashing when it isn't. You may say it's BS, but I can name at least three other people who were INSTANT INCAPPED!! Blessed, Booth and Omioc to be exact. Now you say it's BS. We say it's not. Is it possible, in your limited capacity to see things from our computers, that perhaps there might be some flaw in the codingthat might cause this?
You say it's not an exploit. Fine. Let me take your word for it, as that. So that leaves the potential that there's some other coding issue that you nor the devs know about that would have caused our instant incapping. If you want to claim it's BS, there's nothing I can do to stop you, but geez people, I wish you'd at least acknowledge that it's possible it didn't happen on purpose. This game is full of bugs for goodness sakes. It's not totally implausible that this is just another one of them.

TK:
I hear your plea and this is my response.
Look at the thread and read the post above yours. Then reread yours. The way that it is worded is in a offensive nature......Now read the 10 posts before yours.
They are posts that are crying to NERF the posions. Then get down to yours and it sounds like you are joining their cries. Now add to it that you are crying (I don't mean this in a kidish way) about an instant incap. You post sounds like you are fanning the flames and throwing more wood on.
Reading this post it just sounds like you were trying to make someone aware that this has happened and not in fact to cry NERF.
I am still holding fast to the invisible man (see my previous post) theory about that bug in the game. Like I said in that post they can be standing right next to you and you can't see or hear them. It is also possible to have a wound heal, damage heal, and posion placed on you and you would never know till you either relog or the system updates itself of a character change. In your case this person might have posioned you 4 to 5 ticks ago and when the system updated itself that you were suppose to be incap you dropped. This is not a common problem but I HAVE seen it happen.
I am hoping that the Devs will have a fix for this. From a Medic stand point it is a pain not to see a HAM bar heal when we throw a stim and not to seen someone who we want to heal.
Dedman, if you've also seen this before then you know what I'm talking about.I'm more crying because I didn't have a chance to run off into the base to try healing the poison than I amabout nerfing the distance in which poisons can be applied (granted I still don't like 80+) which some CM's are claiming as reality in some cases. So long as someone here conceeds there may be a problem with the systems updating faster (and that being the reason it appears to be an instant incapp), then I'll shut up. I've also submitted a bug (not surewhat good it will do, but..). This is the same kinda thing as lair spawns all of a sudden springing right on top of you from no where. This happens all the time to me, and perhaps it's inner-related.
I think that all bleeds, piosons, and diseases should be subject to the 75% damage reduction. I mean, everything else is, why shouldn't these? It would make healing the poisons and such more viable to keep people going, because right now it seems as if being poisoned or disease (mind disease really sucks in PvP cause if you do manage to live, your spending a good deal of time in a cantina - but such is the nature of the beast) are death sentences once they are landed.
Bottom line is that how poison/disease effects PvP will be changed. That is a fact, be it sooner or later. People here can discuss and provide suggestions to the devs on how to change it to keep CM's happy, or you can fight the losing fight, and threaten to quit the game when these changes go through - but they will go through.
There was no immediate incap. I'm calling BS on this.
How do I know, you may ask? Probably because it was my poison that felled them. This was a battle between a few rebel pa's and my pa, Fatalis, on Starsider.
This was out in the open, on Rori, and yes, the zerg was all bunched up.
We had two combat medics. Moon and I were both poisoning.
Now, it might be possible that this person was quite far from one of us when he/she was poisoned. However, he's not taking into account the area of effect. One guy rushing into our midst or someone sending a pet makes a great way for us to land a poison on many of you well out of weapon range.
Then they get strewn out, with half of them chasing after the CM that poisoned them, and half of them running in the opposite direction.
They had combat medics as well, and we got poisoned. The difference is, we have a large percentage of doctors compared to most groups, and they do a good job of curing the poison. It also helps, as the poisoned victim, to not run around like a chicken with its head cut off.
And never mind the exploit comments. The board posters on starsider are full of rebels that cry exploit every time they die. Not all of them do it, but most of them do.
They also failed to mention that we lost two of the five battles that occured in the Rori wilderness that evening.
But as far as mind poison is concerned, combat medics aren't the real target here. The real target needs to be mind damage. Any attack that targets an unhealable mind pool is going to be the be-all-end-all of pvp.
First I have to say CM's are defenitly not overpowered. Even with my best mind poison it's going to take far more time to kill a player than any of the other elite specials like Eyeshot or LastDitch. Not only that but if the other group has a doctor, then poison is usually worthless.
As for using ae poisons effectively is very difficult and often results in a fast death for the CM. When I try to use AE posion in a large scale pvp action I know I'm basically a suicide scout. I'll run in to get close enough, hoping that the ae will actually effect most of the players, even though many will resist it, then promptly die. It doesn't take long for the other players to learn your profession. I usually find my self running away from Pvp as a huge line of pets chase me into the distance.
The only thing that gives me a slight edge is having doctor skills as well. Being able to buff my stats usually buys me an extra few seconds of life, but that's about it.
I do agree that presently it's a little too hard for Doc's to cure an effective AE poison. I've been in a few situations where I'm the only healer trying to cure 10 other players before they die, I might if lucky save maybe three out of the 10. Perhaps a Doctor only AE cure? Not ranged, but if a ae poison or disease get's tossed everyone could gather around the Doctor for the ae cure. This would encourage doctors to participate in pvp more perhaps.
Nearly every elite combat class has a special that will drop another player within 5 seconds or sooner. Just because poisons are frustrating, doesn't mean they should be nerfed. Eyshot or Lowblow, panicShot, Last Ditch combo can be just as annoying and final.
Try paying a doctor to accomppany you on your next pvp romp and luagh hysterically at the CM that tries to poison you.
