Thread: A couple interesting changes coming
Healing pets were the 'bread and butter' of medical XP since that was where we got the mad heals since pets simply have the HAM pools players don't get. I shudder to think about anyone trying to get Med XP if/when this goes live at 100-200 xp points a pop when they max heal another player..
It isn't the bread and butter for me. I very rarely heal pets. I get my exp by healing my group when I am out hunting with them...mostly it is just 3 or 4 of us....do this for a couple of hours and you get plenty of exp. I had so much med exp yesterday that I was able to train master cm support, and all three 1st levels of doctor. It was absouletly no effort at all. I don't think I even healed one pet becuase the group I usually am with none of them are CH.
So it can be done. Besides the CHs can buy their own pet stims...so they don't need us to heal them.
Now the LOS situation I dont know about yet. I don't play PvP. In PvE I always have an LOS so I don't think that will be that much of an issue in that regards.
Does this apply to all pets or onyl the pets the CM owns? Clarification would be nice.
Does LOS mean you just can't fire through walls or you can't fire through hills like everyone else? Again clarification would be very nice to have.

If you've ever been to a place like Dath you'd get ALOT more exp healing pets than you would other players.. Myself and 2 friends went there and survived 4 agro'd Enranged Rancor .. I certainly made 10x more exp off our faction pets since in 1-2 hits my friends were incapped-poof-1 Stim D later and they're back at full and I'd get *maybe* 250ish points.. Pets on the other hand I could easily clear 600+ points a heal on..

Darthomir and dantoonie IS where we hunt all the time without pets. If your group is skilled enough like ours is you don't need the pets to heal. I get approx 4k to 5k exp each day from healing my group. We certaintly last more then one or two shots.
No offense but if you think 4k to 5k a night is 'good' then you must not have seen pet healing in action.. I could walk away with 1-2k per FIGHT when its just me and my 2 pets on places like Talus.
I'm sure they weren't expecting people to make Masters already and I'll bet that's what this is about.. Instead of just reducing healing exp by say, 50%, they took it ALL away and that, IMO, is dumb.
For the record: it certainly isn't worthwhile to even heal your Faction pets anymore. They're cheap enough it'd be better to save your meds/med resources and just replace the pets.
The Pet Healing/Med XP change will hurt. I did get quite a lot (maybe 1/3 of the total, I also spend a lot of time in med centres) of my Med XP from healing my pets, but I wasn't one of those people who would go out and deliberately get my pet incapped so I could heal it to full health, I just healed my pet as it fought mostly equal or yellow con mobs.
The LOS thing I dunno about, since I haven't got high enough to use the good poisons yet ![]()
After this patch was announced lat night, I went to Dantooine with my grand wrix and did some hunting, primarily focusing on healing rather than killing critters fast (I used a lot of standard /attack rather than bodyshots and bleeds).
Hunting voritors and hurrtons primarily, I got 35K medical experience in 2 hours. This along with 20K credits, a bunch of pistol and combat exp, and several thousand creature handler exp.
AOE heals in a busy cantina is probably faster exp, but this was pretty darn fast (and much more fun than a med center).
This was solo on a medium difficulty planet with a pet that a level 1/1/0/0 CH can handle. Get a bigger pet, or get with a group with multiple pets, and the exp really rolls in and that is why they made the change.
There was an observation in the CH forum that this was probably brought on by non-CH being allowed to have pets now. I uspect this is correct. Even if I don't spend the skill points to get CH, I can use a rock beetle with 2000 HAM and get ok medical exp from healing it.
sorry that should have been 20k to 30k exp per night.
anyway why are you so worried about getting exp quickly? Just enjoy what you are doing. Stop the powering up. Just get in a good hunting group and enjoy the game without worryign about how much exp you are getting. You will get your exp much faster then you will get your crafting exp. That exp is slow.
Yeah, I know. Texxie. I know it only all too well.
I wasn't as active on the Forums in Beta (the software drove me too nuts to be very active there), but that didn't mean I didn't read them and see exactly just what treatment, or lack thereof, and simple lack of respect the Med classes got. No reason to think it would change on live. I'm just niave.
We just aren't important enough to garner a simple response to our basic issues, which they asked for in the first place.
We were never thought of back in Beta whenever they would make changes. When they changed wound accumulation to be nearly non-existant, we weren't thought of at all. They simply went with the majority of combat-types when they whined about downtime.
When we brought up the fact that the schematic resource requirements were too steep of a jump from A level to B level, we were ignored.
When we brought up the fact that the resources we required were too numerous and too hard to find, we were told to simply buy them from artisans. Forget the fact that artisans would rather find more useful, and more profitable resources for Weaponsmiths, Armoursmiths, and architects.
Then there was the lack of money flowing into the medical professions for doing what they do best, healing. And what did we get told to do? Charge. And those from Beta remember the uproar that brought about.
And not once, during that uproar, did we even get ANY back-up from the man who TOLD us to do that in the first place. Holo was conspicuously absent from that particular discussion, and only showed up on our forums once in a while with no concrete changes or additions made.
No real promises. No real resolutions.
No real response.
Funny...you'd think that now that we're paying customers, we'd get a bit more in the way of response... guess not

elenora wth do you want? You wanted los... what more do you want?
Personally, I dont really care if non-LOS was taken out...ill just figure out other wayst o use poison...
personally I would rather the devs had lower mind poison and left non-LOS in...bit oh well...i can deal with the changes...
what pisses me off is that devs never said a f'in word to us about upcoming changes...something they have been kind enough to give other classes....
in fact we haven't even gotten a official dev response to the our submitted issues and its almost been 2 months...
No reasons no justification no comment is what really pisses me off...
the changes are managable...ill just evolve the way I pvp...
what the problem is the utter lack of comments from the devs...
i wanna hear why they decided to remove non LOS application from poisons...
problem is the answer would just be like uh cuz everyone said so...
its obvious the devs have zero idea whats going on in game and worse dont even care...

Realistically what else is therein the game?
PvP is still majorly borked and being cussed at for 5-10 minutes after a battle doesn't appeal to me.
There is no 'phat lewt.'
I've ran enough Faction missions to have a decent amount of money banked (80-100k at all times, depending on if I had to buy certain resources)
Groupingisn't always an option for me due to playtimes, but when I do everyone just tries to race to the corpse first to loot/harvest--hence why I had pets in the first place.. Sick a pet on mobs, heal during the fight, harvested resources after fight to make more meds.
I'd still rather have seen them just reduce XP from healing pets.. That would be much better, imo, since people could still do what they were doing and still earn XP.
Maybe I just hate nerfs to OBVIOUS game mechanics. It isn't like pets were just added to the game or anything..
