Thread: Updated CM issue list
I agree with you, as Zarlor has already questioned the devs about that issue (medical foraging useless) and their answer (correct me if i'm wrong please, i think it's posted in the doctor forums) is not in the line of giving medical survey to medics/doctors/cms but improve their sampling.
A solution i wouldn't mind too much is if medical forage is used to sample the same resources that could be first surveyed and later harvested/sampled.
This way i can know if there is a resource i would like to haverst. I don't know where it is but i can hire a surveyor tell him planet X, resource Y, check me a nice waypoint or i want Z of that resources. This is a solution i wouldn't mind.
Now I need novice artisan, because i cann't hire a surveyor just to sample all the resources, for example there are organics that aren't used in advanced components but have a superb OQ if i know it exists i could hire a surveyor but i cann't hire a surveyor and tell him find me something really good. Their time cost money and working for medics is much less lucrative than working for weaponcrafters. Most of them will place a havester and sell the stock but few of them will search that resource, compare it with medics, see if it's good, etc,etc,etc...
I think that all the medics what they want is to place a havester not sampling 1 or 2 resources, but if those samples are real samples and i can sample everything then medical forage would be a bit useful again.... and it would improve the economy too because a lot of medics will drop artisan and outsource their harvesting.
Medical forage is a useless skill beacuse you cannot choose what to forage. But if i could be used has sample resource i would be of great help. Wont solve any real problem beacuse still need many inorganic material to craft anything, but at least can forage to write the name of materials, so then can ask a surveyor to search that organic you want.
I.E.:
I am on tatooine, while i am with my friends in a camp i forage a nice wheat called miga, so then i can ask a surveyor to find me a good concentration to place my harvester.
With the actual medical forage i will get 10 diferent organics, wich allways are horrible ones, and get my allready filled invetary with useless stuff.
Thanks
/salute
gald to see that someone took the time to get all that listed.# 5 and 3DEFINATLY needs to be addressed!
I guess I am not a fan of people just dueling and slaying to cure the poison after a battle with a CM either. I almost wish to see poison not go away after death, but actually have to wear off or be cured....maybe that is a little harsh, I dont know, what do you guys think?

oh wow... since poison won't kill or incapicate, that would be awesome!

the item decay on death should help to slow down the dueling banjos
The direct responses we've had so far on fixing medical forage and giving some kind of medical sampling some consideration has been:
Ben “Marvelin” Hanson wrote on 9/30/03 on the Correspondent Forum:
“I don't want to make it like sampling since I feel that undermines the artisan skill tree. If as a medic you want something that works just like sampling, you should grab novice artisan. So the trick is, that it needs to be different from sampling but not more efficient than sampling for the artisan (I don't want /medicalForage to become a staple skill for non-medics). If you have some suggestions pass them along.
You can tell the players that this is on the radar for a complete revamp. I'd love to hear their ideas given the restrictions that I outlined above.”
Zarlor passed along the following summation from Ben “Marvelin” Hanson’s response on the Correspondent forum on 10/28/2003:
“The SOE team is leaning towards adding a whole new set of items and such (medicines, components, and component enhancements) that can be yanked from the ground, sort of like scout, but with items specifically useful to medics. No final decision has been made, yet, but that's what they are considering at the moment.”

I won't say that any of that really addresses the issue and I cannot seem to get the Dev team into a debate on it. Sorry. Still trying, though. Still strying.
