Thread: Please vote here for +1 HAM cap for poison
i vote no also
why ...first of all the poisen is a hassle to make ... resouces factories and so on.... of course with the amount of time and money needed to make this weapon it should do a lot of damage...its not like a 300krifle shootin thingythat i can keep for ages.
on my server a 10 pack of area mind goes for 60k so do the calc....
thats 340 attacks lol... want to see one weapon that decays that quick![]()
if this change will go in i will also become a lets say comando, or a ch
because that would completly take the combat away from my prof... if i wanted to be a healer only
i would have picked a doc/medic

Sure, let them nerf it and if we don't like it get them to change it back right? Wrong. I don't know what other online games you have played but the track record holds true. If it gets changed, history shows us that it will stay that way and the class will most likely be broken (yes I view this as a nerf) for the rest of the days this game is live. You did a good job when we didn't have a correspondent, how about staying out of the CM's business since we have a new one and focus on doctors.
Truthfully the track record of other MMORPGs (and I have been playing them since the very early '90s, and there may be a few of you out there who know how this can be so) is irrelavent here. We've already seen the Devs back out changes that went live. We've also seen themback out and/or modify changes on Test (as one would expect to happen, since it is a TEST server.)
And I will NOT keep out of CM business because I AM a CM. Been one for alomst as long as I've been a Doc. Of course I have diddley-squat to do wtih the CM Correspondece stuff, though. SO just remember anything I say here is MY opiion alone and has no bearing, beyond what your opinion has, on our Dev for CM issues. As others point out, we all have a right to our opinion. If you dislike mine feel free not to readit.

Couple things here:
1. Me vs. any ranged class after this change....I use poison, they use bleed shot. I could die, they could not. How is this fair?
I agree. (Well, actually I don;t think it's a perfectly fair comparison because our poisons tend to tick for more and faster than bleed shots do.) I have stated before that I'm all for the idea that if they impliment a no-incap rule on poisons that it shoudl apply to ALL DoTs. (And that opinion HAS definiteively been made known to our Dev by Kavedawg, if he does not mind my saying so, because many folks here have brought up that very issue.)
Best point made on that so far. Well, you do have to be "trained" in the weapon, because you get the certifications for the second level weopoins at Novice Marksman, you just don't need to use those weapons normally in combat to go up the RWS tree anymore. However you do have that capability to use those weapons, so why not use all the tools at your disposal? You CAN use those weapons, to not use them would be a reasoning of personal choice and your tactics would need to change accordingly. I guess the qustion would be shoule we HAVE to use those weapons? In other words is there a reason why a CM would not use a weapon do suppliment their poisons? (And that really is all my weapon does, is suppliment my poison since my Poisons tend to do more damage than my weapon most of the time.)
2. You aren't necessarily trained with a ranged weapon to be a combat medic. I am a master combat medic without ever firing a gun. I used combat xp from unarmed training to go up the ranged support tree.
To me this is just as rediculous as making an elite marksman class, lets say a pistoleer, have to throw a poison at someone to get the final blow. Its just too far from reality for me to be able to handle. One of the above posters made an excellent point: it takes a LOT of time hunting resources and crafting to make our weapons, and they DO in fact get used up much faster than any other weapons in the game.
I would just like to see the correspondants put their personal feelings aside and be the voice of the people. An overwhelming majority of responses here is to not make this change.
And once AGAIN let me reiterate that your correspondent (I have absolutely NO PULL on this matter on the Corre boards, because I'm the Doc Corre) IS making all sides of the issue known. What you see on tis forum is our personal opionions that have nothing do do what what gets said on the Correspondent forum.

Just wanted to make sure that these got put in all the threads about this. This is where I believe this issue first came up and these are the threads that were passed along to our Dev about the issue. Just so you can all be informed of where this started at and at least one of the items it was intended to address, I beleive.

If this change goes into effect it will kill the game for me. I've been a Master CM since about a month after the game started. I do not make it a habit of doing PvP, and rarely do. However, I do have Reb faction, and do occasionally get jumped by Overt Imps when I'm doing mission runs. I believe Poisons are the best defense CM's have. I have been left alone by Overt players because they know what I can do to them, even though theycould kill and DB me. What would be the fear in attacking CM now if we can't poison our attacker into incap mode? How come you don't stick you hand into a fire = it burns. How come you don't pet a skunk = it'll spray you and make you stink. How come you don't attack a CM = they'll poison you. If they limit our poisons what is the fear of attacking a CM now? Answer - NONE. This game had been circling the drain for a few months now. If this patch goes into effect, it'll be time for a flush from me. Or I could be like every other PvP charcter and become a Commando (until the DEVsnerf them). Or I guess we all could just sit around a campsite and sing campfire songs and hug.
This call for +1 HAM is bunk in my book. Let's make all weapons and skills stop at +1 HAM and see how long this game lasts.
Brauer, on Flurry
I totally agree Brauer. I vote no.
Mordra Faile
Master Combat Medic - Bria
I vote yes, because seriously if you cant do 1 point of damage to your enemy, something is wrong
Yes tactics will have to change, but guess what, we ARE NOT primary combat classes. Why do you think you should be able to solo a BH or Commando? I dont understand this, it makes no sense at all to me. Their professions are to do damage, we are a support class. If I wanted to be king, I would have gone one of the two said classes. This change will do nothing at all to those who group. Hell I have Pistol 1 and I know I can do 1 damage very easily to the said classes.
Oh, but I agree that if it is to change, ALL dots should not incap.
yeah this master combat medic who's not in our faction has a harvester around our pa, all this person does is drop in radar range, poison, run out, run back, mind poison again, etc. killed 6 people just doing that including hitting on people just doing missions. u think 600 mind poison damage a tick doesnt need to be nerfed eh? each person was dead in less than 5 seconds. face it, it needs to be nerfed, cause it's nothing but cheap when u dont need to fire 1 shot outta ur gun and can kill multiple people in a short time.
I assume you are talking about me since I'm the one that said I go out to your guild area to hit my harvestor... and I've been harrassing your guild members for the last few days... and if I'm right you are in guild OF on Lowca, right? If so... let me correct your exaggerations with fact:
That time I hit your group where you said I killed 6 of you with 600 mind poison damage... You are lying. There were 5 of you and one pet. Most of you were already half dead because I ambushed you while you were fighting imperial NPC's (on a mission). I hit you with an area mind poison-C with an effectivness of 137. As a master combat medic, this translates to to a damage rate of 260 points every 10 seconds. (I've heard the ticks are every 8 seconds, but I have timed them several times over, and it's really 10 second ticks.) This means everyone poisoned wouldget incappedwithin 30-50 seconds depending on the size of their mind pools and amount of will power when hit. I did NOT hit you all and run away... I stayed there and continued to blast you all with Fan Shot and a formidable FWG5 krayt enhanced with powerup (60-394 damage). (Yes, I'm also a master pistoleer). You all kept shooting at the NPC base while I did this making it pretty easy to kill you. I came close to dying because the commando in your group had the sence to turn his fire onto me, but was out of range for his specials, and the pet in the group was also smarter than the rest of you and attacked me. But I prevailed with my uber stimpacks keeping me alive and spice. Yes, I was thrilled I got to death blow 5 rebel scum killing my brother imperials. No, there is NOTHING overpowered about combat medic. I just know your guild is all GREEN and don't know how to watch their backs in PvP. Even my most powerfull Single Poison-C can't hit 600 points of damage even using all 900+ quality resources. The best I've ever made with Uber resources has been 551... at the huge expense of a potency rate of only 65 points which gets resisted WAY too often to make it even worth crafting. So please, next time you get owned and feel like crying to your mommy, don't come here and start whining nerf the class that I didn't know how to fight that killed me yesterday! I used to whine about my class because I couldn't kill anyone and got killed too often myself... untill I finally figuered out the tacticts I need to win.
It makes me laugh soo hard when you say "each person was dead in less than 5 seconds" Poison doesnt even do it's first tick until 10 seconds AFTER application, and NEVER killes in one tick unless your already almost dead. Learn your facts before whining on the froums.
My guild was hit by a combat medic on our way to raid their base in Theed the other night, and though he died very fast, his area poison imcapped 9 of us... and you know what I said? "Good shot!" Combat medics spend the 2nd most skillpoints in the entire game so they can do 3 things... Heal, Poison, and Disease, the latter of which is totally useless. Add that to the fact I spent every last skillpoint on being a master pistoleer, and I caught you off guard, already half dead... no it's not suprising you got slaughtered. If anyone here disagrees with me, go ahead and voice your concerns, but be SURE to back it up with logical reasoning and facts.

I became a combat medic with my second account because I didn't want to become a commando like everyone else. I'm really suprised by this change because usually when there is an alleged unbalance there will be tons of those characters. For example early in the game tons of creature handlers, recently tons of commandos. I can only speak for my server but on Starsider there are not tons of combat medics. It is a challenging profession and believe it or not its ok to have some be more powerful than others. This isn't a FPS. There needs to be diversity. Combat medics add excitement to the game and can turn the tide of a battle. When i get poisoned i say "oh crap" and run around trying to cure it and cure my group members and sometimes we win, sometimes we dont. But its always fun.
