Thread: PvP Vs Riflemen Mind Heal is Mandatory
I'm a rifleman and the ability to target the mindpool is the only reason I can win in PvP fights. There are too many one shot kills made by any class (carbines, BH, pistoleers, rifleman, etc.). Most of the damage that is done to the mind is offset by the slow recharge times of the big rifles. I can one shot most players with my T21, but the recharge time on it is in the 8s after being sliced. If I miss, it's the end of me, especially since the dps is so low.
However, I do think that there needs to be a limited way of healing the mind pool. Not so that you can use the stims to heal yourself of mind damage (and keep using stims indefinitely), but just enough so that you can raise a teammate incapped from mind damage. It stinks having to wait around mindlessly as you wait for someone to recover from a mind damage shot, while everyone else who "survived" the battle incapped is up and running in 10 seconds.
My thought (which may have been brought up previously), is you have a skill similar to in fucntion to /tendwound,which heals about 50 mind damage at a large cost to your own. Basically, the skill is supposed to be used just to get an incapped teammate off the ground. It's not for "healing" of mind damage. Any item that allows for "healing" of mind damage could be easily exploited to allow for medics to use stimpacks/woundpacks for an indefinite period of time.
my beef with rifleman is that fact taht they attack a unhealable pool...
no I am a total supporter of the fact that sniper should do massive damage...but i dont see why they couldnt do one hits to the H and A bar simultanously...
fact is all that needs to be done is to preserve the ability of the sniper to one hit...
it doesnt have to be to the mind pool

I would say that mind damage is a problem in PvE just not aas bad as PvP...
We have a winner! Where'd you go Carver. I got 3 words for ya: Hunting Group, Lok
Has anyone bothered to take the challenge I threw down a couple weeks ago? Get a nice, well rounded party and go to Lok and fight pirates and mercenaries.
You'll see the importance of mind heals then... after half of your group is incapped to mind, and the other half gets wiped out because you don't have enough people left standing to kill'em before they kill you.
Seriously though, I wish entertainers will get it, at the moment there is nothing they give to a hunting party
Entertainers were made for the social players/rp'ers of swg, this is from back in beta. They were never meant to be an out-of-the cantina class.
There are not, nor will there ever be a Bard profession in swg.
If mind were healable there is still a llimit fto combat length with a couple of Medic in PvE. You can only stim so fast adn each heal has a price. Once the mecis get targeted, that price become even higher if they start taking mind hits as well, and if you are figthing any PvEs with ranged weapons, like hte aforementioned Pirates on Lok, you cna be quite certain you'll find people going down in tht manner.
The lmithing factor here would have to be, IMHO, only to ensure that the Medics cannot stim themselves to be able to continuously heal bystimming up their mind more than they are using it. So yes, I think some kind of rework is needed. I just don't know in what direction, yet. I really think we need some guideline for the discussion from the Devs on the matter. Otherwise it looks like we have 90 different solutions (including the It-Ain't-Broke-So-Why-Fix-It solution) to what appears to be a very hot-topic issue and the Devs will just come back to us and say "You see? You guys just can't agree on anything, so what do you expect us to do?"
(That's pretty much the answer we got on several issues brought up in Beta and that's NOT an answer IMHO. Instead we needed a more focused discussion of intent from the Devs in order to provide more coherent solutions without seeming wishy-washy about everything.)
Zarlor, you forget one of thte biggest reasons that no one can come up with a solution is because the devs themselves created the system of mind damage to be duel. In one sense, they make mind the sole realm of the entertainer implying that BF and mind damage is about trauma, while on the other hand making it targetable in combat which shows its a definately about physical damage.
Its mostly the devs fault that we cant come up with a coherent concept of mind damage, thus we have so many different solutions because people are trying to come up with suggestions that address each side of the debate of mind damage. Thus we basically get more than twice the solutions.
So a lot of this confusion is because the devs have yet to really define what mind damage is to us...I really dont think the devs know what mind damage really means in game...
Riflemen have the worst damage per second of any other profession (besides commando). We take 3x damage up close and we cant hit for beans up close. 75% of our skill tree is broken and useless.
With the upcoming 75% reduction to damage, rifleman will no longer be able to win in one shot (the only way we can win). Were going to be completely useless in PvP. Yet you want to make that even worse?
Come off it. Get a clue. Learn some facts. Dont cry nerf on an already nerfed proffesion.
I tottally feel for the rifle class...actually if they where the only class that could do mind damage, i wouldnt even say anything about the mind damage issue...
thing is mind damage is a problem and the rifleman class is the "easist" class to target that has this...but I will as eyeshot and fan shot are far more of a problem...
I think the fact that BH and pistoleer have pistol range pistol speed mind damage is absolutely crap...
rifleman just get a bad rap over the mind damage issue...
personally I think if a rifleman can get a clear shot at me at rifle range i should be one hit... I have yet to meet a rifleman that could beat me in acity fight...
But mind damage regardless of who does it is an issue that needs to be resolved. Rifleman definately need to maintain the ability to oneshot. I really think this could be done without mind damage and just incredible damage to both H and A at the same time enough to incap any player except those on the best buffs in the game.
mind dot is really powerful....
we are potentially the biggest abuser of mind damage...
my mind dot does about 450 and last a reaaaaaaally long time...
i was in a pvp battlefield yesterday and basically wiped out 10 rebs using mind dot...
4 imps killed 10 imps...
before that i was fighting in moenia star port with 3 other imps and10 or sorebs were pinning us inside the star port and i based incaped 8 of them using mind poison in about 3 mins...
but there is a counter so i dont see the problem...
master doctors with high powered cure packs just because ur best friend...
i would be more than willing to give up mind dots tho if the whole mind damage issue was fixed...
Combat medics doing mind damage is a big problem.
My factory-made fully experimented poison C does over 300 a tick and kills almost any profession in 3 ticks - under 30 sec. I can apply it from 0 to 40m, it takes a combat move (3s) and does not even require LOS.
I have already killed master BH, master CH and many others just by getting a drop on them, my poisons kills them faster then they can get me with pets/ knockdown.
Can someone describe how to combat that ? How does doctor healing poison works ?
