Thats dumb. Never poison+disease. The disease would never tick

Ok, so if we assume that letting a DoT kill somebody outright is too much (plus we need that DB to come form a player in a faction situation anyway), and the fact that DoTs delay (I guess that's to encourage someone from just incapping to "cure" the DoT insted of trying ti find a Doc to cue it) leading to situations like mentioned in the first post... what they heck should DoTs be doing on Incap instead?

I wonder if there is a way to let a DoT take a bar to only 1 damage and actually hold it there for the duration of the DoT? The situation above could still happen, but only if the CM actively does the initial incap then sticks around to continuously incap. That might even fix the stupid no-loot problem on NPCs.

Any other ideas?

Z,

My take on the grace period was that the devs want to 'help' the player to make sure poisons weren't a 3 in 10 death before they could get to a doc...but it's the same effect.

Taking it 1 should fix the loot/fp issue, but that should elicit a strong response from suicide bombers and bioterrorists of throw/retreat/return to db incap. Your resolution would end the grace period 3/10 paradox since the incap would have to be physical damage and still result in 3/10 being death.

But I'm not sure it answers the duration argument, which I read to be the real issue. That he was affected for well over a half hour. Holding him at 1 (barring healing) would have mostly the same affect, would it not?

PvP duration reduction, I think, is the easiest way to solve this particular problem, though I like the idea of trying to solve the lot/fp issue.

Couldn't the loot/fp issue also be solved by having a successful poison impart like 1 physical damage? Just some token amount.

Liem,

I could (grudgingly) support poison expiration at incap, but I can't see how making them longer would be more useful. I think the annoyance factor is exactly the issue here in the original poster's mind. This could easily happen late at night with no docs around, providing no resourse whatsoever.

For the most part diseases won'tcause woundsbelow +1 of any stat from my limited experience. If anyone has seen a situation where someone had woundsbelow +1 please feel free to post. But if no one has received more wounds than thierHAM can support maybe the devs could patch some of that code into the poisons. For PvP the final damage for an incap would need to be done by someone wacking the target with a big stick or some other weapon, and once incapped the poison would not do another tick of damage untill the targets HAM had enough to support the damage. And yes this would work in PvE as well, the poison dot would stop just shy of killing a mob leaving the max of around 500 points of damage to do which can be accomplished easily enoughwith a CDEF pistol.

Well dropping damage levels to only 1 (and I think you guys are right, I should denote this as a poison thing since disease in itself won't incap) means the Poison won't get stuck on the delay timer. The problem is not that the Poison lats 1/2 hour, because in reality it doesn't last that long, at least not the poisoning part. The problem is that there is a 5 minute incap delay on the posion (Same for disease) such that when you go incap the posion/disease state is still on you, but nothing happens. I don't think that's a bug. I think that's by design.

I think the reasoning here is that you are trying to give someone dropped time to get help.(because it is possible to get a way, or eliminate the target but still go down to an incap). I guess it could be argued that from a CM point of view it's not big deal if 1 incap is enough to drop the state, but from the Doc point of view it might be considered an easier cure than bothering to get a Doc. From a balance point of view you make the counter to CMs (the Doc) unecessary if you can just get yourself a quick incap as a cure. Now how strong or useful that particular argument is, I'm just no too sure.

So I guess the current answer is not let poisins be a version of ranged DB (if the tick the final blow) as that might be too powerful, but letting them drop on incap might not be balanced enough either. So I think the timer delay (which makes the poison look like it lasts forever, which in a way it does, but it doesn'twork it's effectsfor all that time) might be the answer they tried to use there.

Since it is kind of apain to have someone constantly going incap with not really all that much time to be able to get a cure (for whatver reason the incap and no DB is occuring or the reason to not be able to find a Doc, who are probably stealth titling anyway, even if they are around) I figured maybe we could come up with something that might help the situation without gimping CMs and without reducing the usefulness of Docs.

Hmm... maybe a poison, instead of incapping, could switch effects? Causing a state for the poison duration or causing wounds (but less wounds than a disease woudl do)?

I say poison them. then disease them. let them tick.

If you dont want to deal with it, dont go overt. No big deal. Your call though.

I have seen neg wounds before. Believe it happens when someone buffs their stats with spice, food or whatever. Say they have a health of 1500 for a limited time, but get hit bad ans suffer 1000 in wounds just in time for their buff to wear off and return to their natural health of 900... bam neg health bar.

Saw this in a med center when someone walked in and literally had no health bar.. not black or anyhting, it wasnt there until he started to get healed.

As to how this factors into the idea of a poison never taking you below 1 health... I'm not sure how that would work as I see more and more PvPers taking buffs, although it is certainly a rare case for a CM to cause that much in wounds. Maybe if you had 3 or 4 CMs in a large PvP situation all hitting the same guy...

I don't know if anyone has thought of this but is it posible he COULDN'T db him? I don't do PvP all that often and when I do I poision the heck out of people but never live to see anyone die. But anyways I know with PvE even if I shoot the heck out of a creature or npc if the killing damage is done by my poision I can't harvest/loot. is it poss that this same thing affects PvP? If the poision incaped him is it poss especialy if the cm never directly attacked him that he couldn't db him? I know you can't db other people's incaps unless you helped with the kill. Anyways I could be wrong. But it stands to reason that if the guy was really in the mood to be **edit** he could have just diseased every stat you possessed and let that take it's affect.

at any given point in this situation, the victim could have run just outside of town popped a monster with his fist and then peaced to get the agro and have it incap him. He would have had 2 incaps within the 10 minute timeframe anyway and the 3rd would have killed him.

The other option would be to continue PvP'ing. while that CM wouldn't kill you, someone surely would, or at the very least, you'd get pushed over the 3 incaps/10 minute barrier.
