sounds like you're not a cm it's not as glorious in battle as you seem to think it isAre you a cm? rofl of course cm is pretty damn glorious right now. I dont have to worry about armor blocking my attacks or anything blocking it for that matter. I love cm and I dont want a huge nerf, but there definetly needs to be more protections against it.
CM is glorious when you take care of your party. Sprinting 40m to mind heal the tank who has 2 NS elders or 2 krayts on him just as his mind bar gets below 100. Having to position yourself to get the best possible use of your area stims because we can throw a poison 80+m, but can only throw a stim 35 or so. Tracking down 6 month old resources so you can pick up an extra point of effect and an extra point of range on your poisons.
Thats glorious.
There is nothing glorious about running around in pvp chucking poisons at people from 80m. Infact, I'm thinking of dropping master so I can master an elite melee prof. I could care less about the diseases or strong Cs, I just want the healing.

Well, you have to admit compared to most of the other combat profs cm is pretty glorious.

i can only speak for shadowfire but the way it is on our server, it helps a lot to have either CM and/or Doc as part of your template. the winning side ismost likelythe one with the most CMs and Docs. is it lame? hell yes it is lame! and this coming from a mcm.
i can honestly say i had more fun with my flame4/materpistol/rogue template over 5 months ago. MCM is not much fun:
stay in back out of enemy cm range,
target closest,
move within range,
aoe poison,
run out of range,
find doc to cure poison from enemy cm,
rinse & repeat.

I did not see anyone answer the original question so I will..
If you want your pvp win's spoon fed to you, Yes you must be a CM/Rifleman these days.

I will name lots of profs that are unstarwayrsy. Tailor. Chef. Doctor. Swordsman. Image designer. this game would suck if it were only people running around with blasters and waving glow sticks. There has to be some variety.
Tailor - surely people have clothes in star wars, and Anakins mum was sewing in EP1. Apparently she grinded Master Tailor in a week.
Chef - Im pretty sure Ive seen people eating in the films, not sure if they had bio enhanced food and all that tho
Doctor - True I never seen luke pop a stim-b when he was soloing vader, but he got healed up by a medic droid when he had his hand lopped off in ESB.
Swordsman - Stands to reason 'non jedi' people will want to pretend to be a jedi using swords
Image designer - No hairdressers or tatoo artists in the SWG universe? Course there is
Hell I didnt say combat medic ISNT possible in the SW universe, Im just saying its not very star warsy. Add to that its the most powerful combat profession in SWG when it doesnt even get a mention in any of the films, that dont make sense.
Give George Lucas a ring, and ask him if CMs are the uber combat profession in star wars.... Hell we should nerf him to make EP3 contain lots and lots of CM/RMs owning all the jedi etc...

Poisons tick every 10 seconds and theres nothing that can make them tick faster. You cant die from a poison alone but stacking a disease on top will kill you.

I think the guy Obi-Wan meets in the diner in episode 2 would be considered a chef. Or maybe a fry cook??? lol
