Thread: Should Bounty Hunters get free Medic skills?
If this happens, I would move to ask that we medics get something more to distinguish ourselves from everyone else. Because as it is, it seems like every profession wants a bit of another profession and the distinguishing lines between professions is blurring very quickly. For the most obvious example, CH pets...
If anything is lacking in this skill system, it's uniqueness. In a sense I partly agree that we should all be able to have some basic things without expending 15 skill points - like rudimentary dancing for one - but in doing so we blur the lines between professions which is something that ought to be addressed alongside adding basic skills for everyone.
I agree 110% with that, some people just want to jump on the bandwagon and think that we are pushing to have this skill introduced to bounty hunter tree with that isnt what we are doing. Our coorespondent took a poll and we (as in most BH's) didnt like the idea of asking for medical anything cause we knew that it would cause a stink. Most didnt like the idea period.
2 Things like i suggest earlier
1) Make Medical Mods work (yes the ones you attach to clothes) i have nice medical mods on an undershirt that would be killer had they worked. BTW has anyone seen a "medical useage" mod skill enhancer ever?
2) Make Stimpack/WoundPack A's work with no skill.
This would benefit everyone as a whole, not just a BH or a medic.
I play my bounty hunter more than my doctor and I think this is dumb idea. When asked why the BH is so powerful we say it's because look what we had to give up to be a bh, we only have 33 pts left over.
Well, those 33 pts are enough to get good enough pharm skills to use Stim-C's and to get FA. Or we can get CH skills, we have to choose between those and that's the way it should be.
There is a "med use" one.
However, no matter what your med use, you could not ever use a stimpack without /healdamage, a skill granted in novice medic.
Indeed, if BH did get /healdamage, they could use ANY stim they had high enough "med use" to use (which could conceiveably be stim C, with a lot of skill tapes and BioEng clothing). Currently both stim A's and B's are 5 med use (novice medic is +5 med use) C's are in the 30's someplace... not really a hard number to get. Especially assuming, that if BHs got /healdamage, they would get at least +5 med use (so they could use stim A's and B's) aand C's can be experimented down to lower med use than the 30's...
So it is not as simple as it sounds. The game mechanics are not as limited as you think, and BH's would gain the ability to use stim C's if they weanted to invest in tapes, and experimented C packs.
Basically, If a BH wants healing skills they have to buy medic... yes that uses up some of the small amount of points left, but anything else, would require a redesign of the medic system.
You'd be better off trying to get BH specific/made items based off of a BH only "/ skill".
--------
Anyone being able to use using stim/wound A's would result in medics demanding that anyone could use a survey devices, and other professions demanding novice items off of other novice skills.
--------
All of our (all professions) points are valuable too, yet we have to spend them in other professions to advance as well, in whatever we consider our main focus. BHs are not special in this respect. Low leftover points and/or a bad skill branch are not justifications for this request.
I think a fixed BH profession can get around this in other ways, without infringing (Whenever BH's get fixed). Just as I'm personally sure that medics should not get artisan survey/sampling skills (for whatever my vote is worth).
-T
The survey issue, is with that, because it is a broken skill.
If BH had a non functioning skill that was to allow them to heal themselves, THEN it would be the same thing.
Also there are several hybrid crafting classes not off the Medic chart. Ranger, Scout and Smuggler all come to mind. However Scouts are mostly self-sufficent (they harvest the resources they need for camps and traps, in general). Rangers can also at least harvest some of their resource needs as well. For the rest of their needs, and for Smugglers, the resources needs and stat requirements on those resources are far less specific, of fewer types and theyrequire far fewer resources overall than what even a Medic needs, not to mention that only in once case (camo kits) does quality of the resources even matter for any of the items they make.
Again, we were give a part of our ability needs, just like scout, in /nedicalforage. Unfortunately scout /harvest is useful while /medicalforage is not. It cannot even supply the needs for crafting even a single Stim A (no inforganics) and even if Inorgs were easily available gathing 8 identical organics using a skill that randomly chooses from available organics in quantities of 1 every, what, 15-30 seconds, with a chance of gathering nothing? Odds are it would take more than a few hours to just get one stack of 8, assuming you were even able to hold enough fo those resource types to even make sure you could get 8 of any one of them.
So, there really is no comparison once you take a good look at the request by the Medic professions for something like a /medicalsurvey command and something as completely out there as a request for all (or even part) of a Novice Medic's skill chart.
Also, someone noted somethng about an Advanced Stim A. Just so you know, there is no such thing. Just Small Stim A. If I remember my testing correctly if you had a 1000 OQ & PE organic and a 1000 OQ Inorganic (or vice-versa) the best Stim A would have a base heal rating of 100, fully experimented. Nothing really phenominal especially in the hands of even just a Novice Medic.
Im sure weve all been in guild chat as BH claims how many people he just mowed down
Next week the correspondant will be asking for flame throwers in there arms and rocket launchers. I mean Jango had em and they do spend 217 skill points......
good lord
Why are BH in game completly diferant than ones on boards? Most BH in guild are more than happy to tell me how mant people they just plowed through especialy with my doc buffs.. but no BH On the boards wont stop till they are duel wielding mandalorian wearing flamethrower wielding unbalancing god moding morons
But only if every single BH who uses FA2 once, automatically loses a chance of ever getting a FS slot on that account. *evil grin*
I am also absolutely opposed to this idea. Unless maybe they want to trade us eyeshot and their guns. If everyone can heal themselves (as I've heard suggested elsewhere), without spending skill points on it, then WHAT is the use of having a medical class at all? The idea behind the classes is to make them INTERdependent, not INdependent. So that people with different playstyles and objectives will still need and appreciate each other. This idea is a piece of doo-doo.
