I was thinking about going:
Bounty Hunter: 0040
Pistoleer: 4032
Fencer: 0040
SmugglerL 0040

giving me +97 speed, +155 dodge, and +115 pistol accuracy.

I like the template but should i drop some dodge for the use of a blaster pistol? any thoughts/ comments?

Hey guys! Can I get your opinion on what templates ya'll like for PvE, I see a lot of posts for templates but I don't know if they are thinking PvP or PvE. I am strickly PvE and still learning about this game and TKAs. Oh, and has anyone ever mixed any chef skills with their TK? Just curious...I think chef could be fun and I am really into doing skills I find interesting.

alrighty, thanks!

Shout out for my 1st post!

TKM/MD is an obvious template.

Other templates include some major defensive stacking skills.

With these you can choose to go up 0/0/4/0 pistoleer or go up the varoius defensive skill trees of other melee profs. In the later case, you should master brawler, but you can also master brawler if you do pistoleer as well. Just mix and match your defenses as you see fit.

Me personally, a defensive stacker:

TKM

MBrawler

4/4/4/0 fencer

0/0/4/0 pikeman

3/0/2/0 swords

Novice Medic. Only basis I really havent coveredat allis ranged mitigation (can address this by dabbling into pistols 0/0/4/0). I like being pure melee tho, so that really doesnt bother me too much. I could drop medic too and finish up my swords defs or master fencer, but I like being able to pop a stim every now and again.

Take a look at the TKA faq at the top of the page to get some more ideas. As to chef, never done it with tka, probably wont either.

Hey another TK/Chef! That is what I am working on right now. The crafting is a nice break from battle. Plus, it is turning out to be quite a bit of fun.

In the end though, do what is fun for you. I had a toon once that was supposedly based on the "Ultimate Uber-Leet Flavor-of-the-Month"template. It got oldpretty quick. Now I am taking the time to try different things and am having a good time doing so.

So that would be my advice, especially if you are new. Try different professions and see which one(s) you enjoy with TK.

If you are really concerned about a template, you can't go wrong with defense bonusesand good old Medic/Doctor skills.

I dont intend on participating in the current FRS system, even though I would like to be a Jedi Knight. Anyway I know powers is terrible for pvp, but what about for pve? How do you guys think a template like master saber, master powers, 4004 healer would work for pve. I wouldnt have the benefits of force running or channel force, but for post revamp non jedi fights, and hunting I really shouldnt need them. So in other words would this be a viable template for a non FRS Jedi?

SOE's philosophy in a nutshell is this. If someone or a group of people are special, and different from others, then by all means strip the special people of the things that made them special in the first place. Do this so that the not- so- special people dont feel bad about themselves. By all means DO NOT encourage the not- so -special people to strive to themselves become special. Its not like we all didnt start with 250 credits a cdef and a melon.

k, i think i got a very nice PvE template down...Master Ranger/Master Rifles/Medic 1/1/0/0 K, now for the reasons why. Master Ranger, i can use camo kits, and mask scent which will make me more effective by creatures not coming after me. Master Rifles, T21, take cover, conceal shot. Medic to heal. Is this a good template, and will it work?

It does work, and Ranger compliments rifleman well, especially the 4000 tree which means you can sneak around much faster under cover while prone.

I would say tho, that ranger 4040 is 99% as good and would free up some precious skill points, for medic 0040 for 1000 heal Stim D's etc.

My personal pref (in the past, I'm doc now) was just Ranger 0040, M Rifleman, Medic 0040, CH 0024 (pet level 28 for a nice tank) with 3 points free for Melee speed tree FS (three boxes will speed cap you on rifles till its fixed).

This was great for harvesting.

I now however have a fantastic BE lvl 10 pet (Gurreck) with 8.6K ham and 50% Kinetic resists - which I am mentioning as an alternative to doing CH - but they are very hard to find. Downside is without any CH I can't pull my harvester droid at the same time.

Having a pet to tank is wonderfull, as well as entertaining. You will be amazed how quickly you will down mob's if they are concentrating on your pet attacking their lair.

Ramble over.

no. CM is not a good PVE skill. killing things with dots alone takes bloody forever and even with the best dot weapon of all time the flamethrower and master commando it would take upwards of a half hour to kill a single 300k ham monster. the rest died faster to direct damage. for PVE CM is a waste of resources.

skills that complement rifles for PVE:

CH, Ranger, Swords, TKM, pistols (defenses mainly dodge), doctor

my favorite was always CH and rifles followed closely by ranger.

hmm well i guess its tk/swords with some medic for my alt i was actually kinda hoping to do ranged on my alt since my main is a defense stacker pvp template im not hell bent on soloing i just would like to able to make money and not have to get 2 or 3 ppl to do it and i guess i dont wanna have to split money made from loot but i guess thats a little greedy anyways thanks for your help on the matter i apreciate it

you dont need 2 or 3 people. just you and one friend is more than sufficient. two of you working together get more loot than one of you working alone. that is a fact. 3 or more and its not worthwhile. 2 is the prime amount of players to obtain loot off 300k ham npc in a rapid fashion.

swords and TKM for sisters. the problem with the sisters is that they are immune to every damage type a rifle can deal except for a few of the lower level ones. the ones worth hunting are either immune or surrounded by high powered immune ones.

an optimum mix for rifles is a friend with swords skill and geared towards defense and the rifle to do the major damage on the elder. elders drop FAST to a rifleuser and a swordperson combo. however if your hellbent on soloing the sisters perhaps you should look at a rifle sword combo.

one thing you need to know that is critical with the sisters now is that they use weapons now and holding a rifle they will hit you everytime. so even if you go rifles/swords your still going to be lacking on defense and will need a friend to tank. however as a rifle/sword you will be able to participate in the killing of the less than elder sisters.

hope that helps some but its the reality of rifles. in sister hunting kinetic damage reigns supreme.
