Thread: Doctor or Combat Medic?

As a former CM student that is now putting all of his efforts in to Doctor-

-Doctors can heal large amounts of wounds and damage very quickly. (At 7m)

-Doctors (at Master Wound Treatment) can revive "corpsed" players.

-Doctors can lay awesome, long lasting, buffs on people.

That's the reason I put my effort in to Doctor. I originally selected CM so I could support my hunting party, but CM also has a lot more abilities I wouldn't use often-- namely poisions, which are vert formidable in PvP, but I don't find them as useful in PvE (my main form of entertainment).

If you want to PvP in groups, consider CM. If you want to provide heavy healing support to groups, with the ability to buff and res, I'd look at the Doctor line. When I see hunting groups looking for healing support, they typically want a Master Doc.

Good FAQ. Forgot about the state healing-- but I also forget about that in combat a lot, too.

I usually carry some dizzy/stunned/etc. packs and use them on tanks in battle. They always appreciate that.

You do need to get close to heal while fighting, so plan on working up some fighting skills if you plan to hit the field. I'd avoid rifle-- you're not going to be close enough to your party, and you don't need anything else taking away from your mind pool. I went pistoleer, but a lot of other Docs like those carbines. I find Health to be the most common pool hit in my party, so picking pistol was the logical choice.

You know, I'ma master doctor now and I've never even made a state stim pack (except for a poison cure I made once). They seldom get used in combat, but it probably wouldn't be bad to have them along. This is something that is often forgotten about.

As far as which weapon to use, rifle definitely seems to be out for most docs. I like the carbine but, you're right, most folks hit health and, with a carbine, you can only target action directly. Not bad for going solo, but not all docs go solo very often.

wait until you fight in a big group against something with powerful poison or disease - you will want to be able to cure that quickly.

I have the same question, at first I thought doc and cm but them I realized I couldn't be a master pistoleer with taht so now I'm left deciding between cm and doc, I'm mostly interested in going on raids but I don't know which would e better, recesitation kits for if we die, or poisons and ranged stims to help us live. I also and wonderign who can heal poisons and dieseses, becuase there seem to be a lot of cm's in bestins. finally I'm wondering if all cm poisons require stuff like "lokian wheat" or dantooine berrys" can someone pleasae help me?

Go Doctor..

You can get MAD buffs to 6 pools (Health Strength Action Stamina Constitution and Quickness) which means you'll have alot more time to run to them to heal them..

Revive Kits are great (when you get the chance to use them)--something I can't figure out why COMBAT MEDICS didn't get.. Know many people that have died in a med center??

With the left over points you can take up Pistoleer or some other combat profession and be 3x more combat effective than a Combat Medic..

Ranged heals are ok but they're not 'all that' given the downsides (massive resource needs, the points spent JUST for ranged heals, etc)..

If you're finding yourself living just fine as Master Medic without the ranged heals then there is no need to take up such an expensive (pointwise) profession JUST for ranged heals--something which you won't use until you get to be able to use Ranged Cs or so since Ranged A & Bs are SO crappy compared to non-ranged Ds..

Uh, so WE don't want it, and YOU don't want it in for PvP--then why is it still there??

I'm looking for a little advise from someone that has tried both Combat Medic and Doctor.

I'm almost to Master Medic, and I'm having trouble deciding which way to go...

I guess what I'm asking is: which do you enjoy more, and why?

Thanks for your help!

Doctor are really Defensive medics who help with wounds, damages, and revivals.

Combat Medics are more offensive and alot better on the battle field.

Me, I chose Combat Medic cus you can disease and poison people, which is awesome. With combat medic you can also heal farther away and I believe faster too.

Doctors can heal massive wounds though and revive which I think is good too.

Your choice.

Check the skills in each proffesion and decide which one suits your needs.
