Haven't had the HAM freezing issue with buffs in over a week. That stupid problem with not being able to be applied to a person if the previous buff of the same type expires prematurely is there still though(annoying as hell).

If you're a combat medic, you can cast ranged heals on people to keep them alive. A doctor has to run up to the victim and heal him from close range. If you get there late, well, you use your revive ability and bring him back to life.

Combat medics get disease attacks, using medicine. This is supposed to be a good griefing skill in PvP, assuming it sticks. Just toss a mindpool disease on the turkey, and camp the cantina. I haven't seen much point to poison or disease in PvM.

If you're a fielddoctor, you'll probably need to blow 24 points getting explore 3 from the scout line. If you're a combat medic, you'll probably need to blow 20 points getting revive from the doctor line (and buy rescusitation kits from the doctors running pharmacies).

I think doctors are best at PvM, and combat medics are best at PvP. Monsters (in SWG at least) don't go 'MEDIC!! KILL NOW!! Players do. So being able to hide behind a wall and still cast heals on groupmates is a hell of an advantage over having to run right next to the guy getting fired on.

It is possible, albeit a bit redundant, to master both doctor and combat medic, and also to just use parts of each, to make a character you enjoy playing.

From what I have seen playing a doctor is very easy so long as you don't participate in the fight. You can walk around and heal and the guys will ignore you since they are usually preoccupied with other. However, there are some mobs that attack those who are closest. So offset this I am going to go creature handler. This seems like it will be a good combo.

no way i can keep my grp alive with the turbo charged damage thats PvP is turning into...

not to mention player bleeds...

and dots in PvP are a joke...

hiding under cover and healing LOS should be a powerful ability but the pace of PvP has basically make it worthless and thats not even to mention mind damage

ok, I'm a new medic but I am already more than half way through the tree, and I wanted to know what are the advantages and disadvantages of both of these professions. I am going to open a store to sell medical supplies and wonder whcih one would benefit me there? I was leaning toward combat medic because of the poisons and ranged stims, but can anyone clear this up for me?

I just made Combat Medic.

I would say if you are just planning on opening a store and selling stims and wound packs go for Doctor. Plus, you'll need Marksman(ranged weapon support)skills as a combat medic.

I chose Combat Med cuz I enjoy healing others in the field and the combat makes it all the more exciting. Plus, yeah like u said the ranged stims and poison are kewl. Just used them for the first time last night - very cool. Plus I've been in the Med Center and there's nothing any of the Docs could do for a person who had just received a dose of Mind poison - hehe.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread but Im facing the same decision myself!

I cant decide whether to get Doctor for pure healing power and Buffs

Or Combat Medic for Ranged heals and Poison!

I already have ranged support from the Marksman tree so that requirement is not a problem.

Somebody help me!
