Lol, don't even consider doing melee if you are a Combat Medic. My main character- a Swordsman, Master Brawler gets killed by TKA's all the time. My alt who is a Master Combat Medic/Master Doctor can kill TKA's as if they were nothing. He dueled my guild's Master Brawler/Master TKA and won at 20 m. The bonuses to burst run and terrain negotiation makes Combat Medics the best kiters in the universe. The TKM had mind buffs for 3,000 mind. Area and single poisons still stack for a 1,000 point mind dot. 24 seconds later he was at 1 mind and I one-shotted him with a rifle and I only have rifles 3 in marksman. Since I also applied disease and poisonto him, he kept incapping himself over and over again before meditate could cure his poison and disease. I had to rez him
He should have listened to me and let me cure his poison and disease. He said "I'm fine, I have meditate." Combat Medic is so l33t! Do that and doctor and you will be a l33t pwner of many.

Depends on your definition of 'fun' and what exactly you'd want to do with the profession...

fun... but can be frusterating...
fun because you can own anything, with the odd exception.
Frusterating because as soon as everyone knows your a CM, your #1 on their list to kill.

It rules if you have a group to run with but healing all the time gets old pretty fast.

So so true lol. But it makes it a nice challenge!

yes it does, but in way it doesnt. Especially when in big groups, because I PvP with my guilds Jedi and our gaurdians.

Example: Death Watch Bunker run
1) Move group into position
2) Noob touches a crate he's not supposed to
3) Everyone engages while I turn my back on them and face the ground (the hamsters running my comp. have strokes with the lag)
4) Target the tank or the noobie being eaten up the most.
5)Push the /heal injury hotkey button.
6) Push it again
7) and again
8) and again
9) and again
10) one more time
11) oooooh a /mindheal for someone
12) /heal injury again
13) etc
14) ask if they killed it yet
15) push heal injury again
16) debate if you should let the noobie who touched the crates when told not to die.
Now if you have other healers in the group or the people taking damage have good stimB's you might have the chance to through in some firepower of your own or do other things. If you're the lone CM be prepared to stare at the group's HAM bars like its an entertaining TV show.
Lots O' fun

It doesn't matter really. Get at least xxx4 pistols (for root) and you can solo any melee. What gun you use otherwise is your own preference. (I just switched from rifles to pure pistols).
