Thread: Bounty Hunter correspondent wants free Medic skills for all BHs
/no sympathy
that is why they have 33 skill points left. We have to use ours wisely too... do we keep novice scout or novice artisan or do we master an elite combat profession.
since they think they are a solo act why dont the DEVs give them the ability to make their own armor and weapons. clothes while they are at it!! We CMs will give up poison to them. The poison needs to be 5x more powerful and can incap PCs and creatures when ours will stop at +1 HAM. Doctors need to give buffs cure poison and disease, and resurrect self kits to BHs and entertainers need to give up mind healing, mind buffs and they must go to a BH for instruments as they are the only one who can make it. Bounty hunters should be proficient in all weapons... they should have all the special shots in the first tier boxes. They should take away from DEs the ability to make BH droids. BHs will still need to make their own spices, slice their own weapons, tame creatures, ranger camps, all their resources can be bought off of the BH terminal and create uber food that chefs can only dream of. And after all this they need the /win command! that was a good one Dejeweak.
Then they will ask what do I do with the remaining 33 skill points? Politician! Only BHs can be mayors
I don't think you understand much about the BH profession. It IS a solo profession. Marks are hunted down and attacked by the BH alone. In some instances he could group with others and they could help, but it doesn't always work. When I was working my way up the BH tree, I was only able to get group members to attack the mark once. 99% of the time it remains white for the group members. There is also the manner in which marks are tracked to consider. Once you get past investigations 1 you start hunting off planet, meaning you may have to visit 1 or 2 other planets to even find your mark. Once you do locate the planet the mark is on you almost always have to travel great distances to catch up with the mark. Most of the time they're heading to a city, so after a while you begin to learn how to anticipate where they;re going.... but it's hard to envision a medic wanting to tag along with a BH just to heal under those circumstances. Particularly when that medic isn't going to receive a portion of the mission payout. BH missions are not like traditional PvE missions everyone else gets, so instead of seeing this as an encroachment on the medic turf, understand it for what it is. Self healing is a required skill for a select profession. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Having medical skills for a bounty hunter would allow all BH's to add something else like pistol speed from pistoleer or carbineer or ch skills with 15 more skillpoints.
I think the intention for the skillpoint division is to allow the BH to choose if they want to deal more damage, or be able to heal themselves, or maybe add some artisan so they can hunt harvesters.
This does not address the problem of BH investigation tree giving crap for skills, however, I definately think med skills should be a NO-NO.
BH already get very good skill bonuses as is. A BH is better with a pistol than a master pistoleer and better at a carbine than a carbineer. Maybe all those bonuses should be divided more into investigation (if they already arent, Im no BH).

I hate so say this, but I'm glad he resigned from the position.
I am a master doctor... with some pistoleer and explore 4. I have no artisan I rely on others to send me locations for harvesting.
I am also a bounty hunter. MBH leaves you with 33 skill points remaining. You can do next to nothing with that. I prefer spending my 33 on pistoleer, but the marks really hurt me. I have next to no defenses. BH's are not uber, last ditch does better damage than any pistol move I have (I recently dropped smuggler on my doc char btw). BH carbines are not that good. LLC is nice but not over powering.
I personally have no issue with BH's getting some sort of self only heal and med use +5. If stim B's ever do get their med use requirement upped it will be even less of an issue. Although I understand the reasons behind not adding it I still disagree. Honestly though I doubt it will ever happen. BH is a very bugged profession and honestly not as uber as some think. My fully buffed Doc with pistol marksman 2 and disarming shot does better than my BH.
The devs have given CMs terrain negotiation, a staple of the Scout profession. I don't see why they wouldn't do this as well.
But as the previous poster stated, I would not be averse to providing the BH with the /tendxxx commands and a Stim-A cert. It would open the market for Medics for stims because, quite frankly, as a doc I wouldn't make any Stim-As. I hated making them as a novice medic and vowed to never use them ![]()
The curreent system woudl do /tends ok... but
/healdamage is independant of stimpacks, it is controleld completely by +medical usage.
+terrain negotiation, while nice, has never really seemed to be a core defining asset of scouts (see mount movement speeds).
/harvest, and camps are closer to /healdamage in impact.
I honestly think BH's don't need healing... What they need is a big reblance (and bug-fixing) of their mission system. If the missiosn are fixed and balanced, they won't need to heal on every singe mission (which is pretty much where they are now, if the mission isn't bugged (which is a lot)).
A lot of profession requests are based on compensating for other broken systems... If the systems get fixed, then there will be lesser need to scavenge skills off of other professions.

I used to be a BH so I know something of this proposal. The medical skill proposal would limit BH's to healing themselves only, so they wouldn't be in competition with medics in any way.
Except that medics don't get to heal BH characters.
And for those of you who haven't studied how many points differing professions require, there is no other profession that requires more skill points than BH. But pretty much every BH invests the 15 points for novice medic plus first aid 1. BH's are indeed a solo profession and I support this proposal wholeheartedly.
BH does take alot of skill points. It requires so many skill pointsto keep them dependant on other characters. There is a wish list item to have astim that allplayers can use, that might help you out.Removing interprofessionalreliance getsaway fromone of the big things they were pushing forin this game though.
I'm good with them having free healing as long as I get LLC usage out of my Combat Medic Support line. It does say combat after-all and I like being as l33t as the next guy. While were at it, I'd like my free billion credits for gaming also, might as well shoot for the moon if we're asking for things that should never happen.
Cheers!
